What a beautiful piece of work! Especially the wooden floor looks awesome! Just one tip: if you want to prevent the cardboard from warping, you can stack two layers of cardboard having them turned by 90°. This way the lines don't warp in the same direction and everything become much sturdier without the need of 5 carboard layers. Please keep on doing your wonderful-to-look-at videos with your calm voice and the description of each step - this is really rare on RUclips and I would love to see more content like yours. Just found your video today and I was telling my husband about your clogged air brush. He said to be it in pure degreaser for a few days. The purple coloured container of degreaser is the one you want to use. After a few days, get a tiny brush and start cleaning all the little parts as they come apart. And he said once you get it cleaned and use it again, clean it right away every time and especially if you use acrylic paints, clean it right away! Just food for thought.

While I really don’t understand everyone’s infatuation with “steam punk,” or even what it’s supposed to mean, I certainly give you props for your ability to take actual junk and turn it into a very convincing steam punk facility! Very creative and impressive.

This is such a joy to watch. I've been building miniature kits for the last few months, and I enjoy them so much. You are so welcome! For Barbie scale, you could get away with using larger sticks like popsicle sticks or larger tongue depressors. Using a larger stick means less cuts and you cover the floor faster since the sticks are wider.
Using chalk pastel was new idea for me, looks better than using watered down paint. You can also use coffee when making papers look old, it gives them more natural old look. This room is just fantastic, I love it!

Howdy, this was fabulous - so many tips. Every piece fits right in and the random panel at 17:32 has a gauge to monitor the room's temperature, and the other gears lift all three floor metal grates and lowers a ladder to gain access to the pipes and lines under the floor. :-)
I've been watching mini making videos for ages and I'm not sure if I've ever learned as much from a single video. Also, this creator's sense of humour is delightful. So happy to have found the channel- very happy new subscriber! Can't wait to watch more :)

Amazing steampunk diorama, details everywhere! My favorite part is the machine. I use gesso over craft foam before painting it, and the paint does not absorb.
That's great advice. I have gesso, although it's more watery than I'd like, so I'll have to do that. I love the machine. I couldn't believe how awesome it looked once it painted. It looked pretty weird when it was all just random pieces of trash glued together. I'm working on the video now.
@@redshoesgirl Your gesso sounds a lot better than mine. I went for quantity over quality and got a huge tub of crappy gesso that'll last forever. There are definitely much better way recipes than I use but I'm just lazy about it and mix a little water into paint and call it a day 😬
I love steampunk and so does my oldest grandsons girlfriend. A few Christmas 's ago I bought each of them a different color steampunk box from Etsy. For their newest place. 2 places ago lol. Im saving this so I can show her. You have a new sub too. I just love miniatures and your stuff is SO unbelievably gorgeous and detailed! I hope this is your job because you should be making a great income. I guess maybe it's your hobby, but WOW. Any of you guys just amaze me. We have SO MUCH TRASH that could be reused for so much. I keep stuff but I'm just not very crafty. My daughter has tons of stuff that she used with her 3 kids, relatives kids and kids she babysat. Her 3 are adults and we just dont see many anymore so all that is here too. TONS. IDK what to do with it all. Garbage company has a fit, even tho we know these companies DO NOT follow the rules, theirs or the States. That's why landfills and oceans are full. Big reason anyway. They're still throwing recyclables in them. I'm trying to figure a way to NOT throw it all out but to get it out of here because we're pretty close to being hoarders. Ugh! Thank you! @@queencityminis having been on an aircraft carrier before, they have those waterproof, fireproof doors, and I'm pretty sure the big round handle that closes and seals them is also the handle to open them. It's been awhile though. The red paint on the gear knobs is perfect

There is a little built-in cabinet in our hall that used to be the fuse box ( our house was built in 1912). I got this idea that I wanted to turn it into a mouse house, then I saw this video! I love steampunk and it fits with the old fuses. I'm not sure if I should use 1:12 or 1:24, it depends on the dimensions, it's not very big so I am leaning towards half scale.
I am really new to miniatures, so I didn't know about 1:16. The box is about 8" x 8" but only about 3 inches deep. So I was thinking work benches along the back and some sort of machine or boiler. There also is a hole where the cables must of gone which is just calling for a hatch!

I just discovered your channel, and I love it. Also subscribed. I am going to try the canopy glue and squeeze bottle technique that you demonstrated for my own steampunk build. My story for the 'mystery panel' is that it functions as a combination lock that turns on different pieces of equipment in the factory, but one has to know the right positions of each gear to make any of the machines work. If you want to age things / add dust a very simple method is to spray on hairspray and then blow on some ground cigarette ashes

I have a whole stash of them. I've seen them used as plates for 1:12 scale. People glue designs on them or keep them white.

@@queencityminis having been on an aircraft carrier before, they have those waterproof, fireproof doors, and I'm pretty sure the big round handle that closes and seals them is also the handle to open them. It's been awhile though. The red paint on the gear knobs is perfect
Oh yeah...I probably should've googled a reference photo to see what the handles even look like on waterproof doors. I usually Google everything.

There is a little built-in cabinet in our hall that used to be the fuse box ( our house was built in 1912). I got this idea that I wanted to turn it into a mouse house, then I saw this video! I love steampunk and it fits with the old fuses.
I'm not sure if I should use 1:12 or 1:24, it depends on the dimensions, it's not very big so I am leaning towards half scale.
That sounds so cool! Is 1:12 doesn't work and 1:24 seems too small, you could try 1:16 scale.
I am really new to miniatures, so I didn't know about 1:16.
The box is about 8" x 8" but only about 3 inches deep. So I was thinking work benches along the back and some sort of machine or boiler.
There also is a hole where the cables must of gone which is just calling for a hatch!

I just discovered your channel, and I love it. Also subscribed. I am going to try the canopy glue and squeeze bottle technique that you demonstrated for my own steampunk build.
My story for the 'mystery panel' is that it functions as a combination lock that turns on different pieces of equipment in the factory, but one has to know the right positions of each gear to make any of the machines work. Peace!
