2016 Lexus GS F - Redline: Review

  • With a screaming naturally aspirated V8 making nearly 500 horsepower under the hood, the all-new Lexus GS F promises to be the most potent sedan to ever grace the Lexus showroom. Throw in a refined cabin, spacious interior, and wicked styling and what you have is a legitimate alternative to German and American luxury sport sedans. Just don't compare it to a BMW M5, Mercedes-AMG E63S or Cadillac CTS-V.

      i doubt any of these types of super sedans hold value well. There isn't a big market for these cars. And people are saying new GS-F models are already being discounted by 10K+

      Tyler is right, no matter what car you buy, you should always have at least one car that you know will always be there for you when you second car gives up the ghost. Corolla is bullet proof but boring, so Lexus is an awesome choice to always have in your garage in case the POS german toy suffers a stroke and has to stay at the dealership for six months.

    Every time I watch a Lexus review, there's one thing I wish other luxury car manufacturers really focused on. And this is a Toyota/Lexus staple, IT'S RELIABILITY. I swear to god, no other luxury car manufacturer focuses on this anymore. They focus more on the impressive engine and interior technology, which I understand, it's modern-day luxury, but Lexus vehicles last a long time for a reason, and it's because they focus a lot on reliability. I mean Lexus is one of my favourite luxury brands, not only because they have really cool and nice interiors, great value, but also they will last you a long time, they will still be very solid after many years, and will cause you very little problems. I mean I see older Lexus vehicles from like the 2000s, and they're still looking and driving like brand new today. So Lexus, in my opinion, is a very underrated brand, and it's sad that most people don't really consider reliability as a top priority, and Lexus will give that to you. Why would you want to buy a car that'll give you huge maintenance nightmares and you will be spending a crap ton of money to fix that? Lexus vehicles, you'll be spending like very little money to fix anything, or even spending no money at all, because they're just tanks, and this V8 will last you a long time. It's sad that people don't consider Lexus a good luxury brand, because they certainly are, and to me, the best Japanese luxury brand in existence, even more so than Acura and Infiniti.

      My dad has a 2000 Lexus with over 120k miles and the only part his replaced is the water pump (wasn't broken but recommended by the garage) and 1 suspension spring ( lots of speed bumps where he lives).
      I bought a 2009 RX 450h SE-L and everything still works perfectly including the air suspension.
      In 2 weeks I'll be bringing home a 2016 GS F with 35k and all the extras inc painted disc calibers, sunroof and mark Levinson sound system.
      Still keeping the RX because it's lovely to drive and the GS F will be my summer weekend toy.

      @SalamiCheeks 5 лет назад +2

      Yea Lexus is a lot more reliable than most cars but I’ll be honest, if I have the money to afford the maintenance of an m5 or an e63 I would get those cars over this. You can not put a price on pure speed and those cars will blow the doors off of any f-sport

    • @romanticdonkey468
      @romanticdonkey468 5 лет назад +6

      Tony Scar ... It’s not about the money, or being able to afford the maintenance. It’s the hassle of constantly having to take the car to the shop. Being on the highway and waiting for the next problem. Not wanting to use that vehicle for a road trip because you just don’t trust that it’ll get out and back without leaving you stranded. I’m looking at the LX for my wife, and possibly this one for me. I just want vehicles that I can daily drive without the damn thing wasting my time and needing to go to the shop. I’d like to save a large chunk of money and buy each one at about 4 years old. With Lexus, I hope to get many trouble free years out of them.

    I find that in every other review on this car, the handling is universally praised especially on tight bendy roads, and the consensus is that the steering is super precise though a bit light. Sounds good to me for a daily commuter that I can wake up for an occasional growl. What I love best about it is unless someone really knows what they are staring at, it’s a total sleeper. Looks like a 6 second Dad car.
    But as The Straight Pipes declared of this car in their review “this is about 5 levels above Dad-fast”😂

    @redline_reviews The GS-F in Canada has tri-zone climate control with heated rear seats, rear audio controls, rear side window sunshades with a power rear sunshade control and a power trunk control. Everything you wish this GS-F had. Plus headlamp washers for that added touch of luxury. We have do luxury right in Canada 👍. Love this review of the GS-F @SofyanBey

    There will always be something you can argue is better and faster, but it's very intriguing to see a fast V8 sedan that will last a long time and hold its value. For people who don't want to burn through money and have a great car, this is the one.

    That is what makes Lexus more reliable and more affordable than it's German competitors, the fact that there are a lot fewer electronics and options. They don't even offer Apple Carplay, which is really surprising. What would aggravate me the most is the transmission being sluggish when driving aggressive. However, I like the fact that it is something different than the competition and I would consider buying one because I like the way it looks.

    I think the GS F takes the m550i, amg e43, cts v sport, s6 recipe and makes it so much better. Take a fully loaded model of any of those four and it'll match up price wise. The GS F comes fully loaded. If you want a truly M5 and 63 S fighter, wait for the new 4.0TT V8. Either way I'm so happy Lexus is expanding the F line up.

  • @dcharizard91
    @dcharizard91 7 лет назад +5

    Finally! A reviewer that realizes that the GSF really competes with Audi S6, Mercedes E43, BMW 550i, and Cadillac CTS V-sport; not the RS, AMG, M, and V models, especially when it comes to price and performance. Yes, the Lexus F models are suppose to compete with the highest performance models, but not until Lexus offers higher performance numbers and match their prices.
