    "Lexus offer an experienced" I can't agree with this anymore! Who gives a crap about .5 quicker 0-60 or slightly faster shifting when your car will RARELY be in the shop. Not to mention the amazing V8 sound. Go Lexus!

    • @Supcharged
      @Supcharged 7 лет назад

      the problem is the price. at that price point it brings nothing new to the table compared to its rivals. might as well get an e60 m5 with n/a v10 for much cheaper and spend the money on servicing.

    • @MrSpeedy99
      @MrSpeedy99 7 лет назад +14

      You're right HodsBroo! A 400bhp car will feel no different to a 500bhp car on the road. And that's the thing, performance cars like the GS-F and RS6 never go to the track. You'll never be able to exploit that power difference so you might as well go for the best experience possible, not the most performance. And that's where the GS-F steps in, all about the experience, with its fat, old school NA V8.

    • @Supcharged
      @Supcharged 7 лет назад

      then might as well get a subaru BRZ

    Not one word about the elephant in the room - reliability. A few years ago I owned a 2009 M3 for one year - best driving car I've ever owned. But I'd never buy another one because of the repairs (2 wheel speed sensors, door opening issues, DRL burnt out, steering wheel and door trim peeling, bad rattle behind glove box). BMW has recently improved, but they are clearly focused on driving experience when new - not long-term reliability.
    I bought a Lexus GS350 F Sport a couple years ago. Slower and duller, but far better put together, and no issues at all. If I were leasing and just looking for a fully warrented drive for a few years, BMW all the way. But since I'll be buying and keeping, the GS F will most likely be my next car.

      Your comment seems to be one of the only ones from someone who has his driving license here. Many people don't realise that it's one thing to go fast but another one to own the car and pay for the bills, I blame that on RUclips car review which almost always focus only on fun rather than the value of the experience.

      Agreed. I test drove the 3 series, a4, c class and the IS 300h. THe lexus had a ride quality and low interior noise just as good as the new class. The rest of the cars were inferior. I'm going for the lexus next week as I do 30k miles a year and reliability is important!

    • @Randomguy86204
      @Randomguy86204 7 лет назад +7

      Well said.
      I came from a similar experience to yours (albeit much lower budget), I had a Honda Civic Type R FN2 and owned it for three years without a SINGLE issue, everything "Just worked", I sold it and upgraded to a 2011 Mk6 Golf GTi with all the bells and whistles and I've had nothing but issues in 6 months (Weather strips are falling off, windows don't work half the time, gearbox issues, touch display issues).
      Sure my older Civic Type R interior wasn't as flash and luxury, but I'm willing to suck up these first world problems if it means I won't have to wait another four days and cough up more $$$ to send my Golf back into Volkswagen to get fixed again. I'm definitely putting this up for sale once I've payed off fixing the issues and moving to another Japanese hot hatch.
      Edit: Forgot to mention, my god how much it costs more to maintain a german car. $$$$

    A Lexus is a tool, not something that excites you. It works, won't break your bank or make you weep at your poor life choice of owing a luxury German saloon when you really couldn't afford it. If you're not a badge snob, a Lexus is what you need.

    • @rockzs74r

      But an m3 or m5, e63, and rs8 is all better car driverwise though. Every review of the lexus f car is always bad with however it is good if bla bla bla. Because lexus real problem is not the german car they compete with. The problem is the f badge it wears is also can be found on a lfa. The car that universally praised by everyone. So the critics always look up to lfa whenever the reviewed lexus f car. Talking about the badge value here

    The GS F kinda competes with the M550i, S6 and Ghibli S Q4 more than the full on M, RS and AMGs.

    • @harvinmahal
      @harvinmahal 7 лет назад +21

      The GSF does have much more character than any one of those though, as in the M550i, S6, Ghibli S

    • @NikoBell12
      @NikoBell12 7 лет назад +23

      Yup. And I would pick this over all of those too. One thing people will bring up is the price. But if I bought any of those cars you just listed the way that I'd want them they be pushing over 90k. If I bought the GSF how I'd want it it would still be under 80k. And don't get me started on the M/AMG/RS cars. In the right spec those are over 110K. So in my eyes, the GSF does compete with the "lesser" cars and it's better.

    • @ScottZ370
      @ScottZ370 7 лет назад +5

      True but in it's character it rivals the full fat German competitors

    • @Kaisuke971
      @Kaisuke971 7 лет назад +14

      I wouldn't necessarily say that it's better. The S6 and M550i (which isn't out yet) are built to be low-key but maintain an high level of performance, so they have a certain appeal because they don't really stand out: the wolf in sheep's clothing. To be honest, that's my type of cars, very subtle, but with the little details and the unexpected performance.
      The Ghibli S Q4 is all out. Weirdly enough, it's not quite as fast as these (or as fast as it looks tbh), but it certainly looks better than the rest, it sounds like nothing else, and overall it's more exotic because it's a bloody Maserati. So it's for another type of people, the ones who want more emotions.
      The GS F is somewhere between these. It has the performance of the M550i (i think) but probably not the quality, composure and tech of the S6, or the appeal of the Maserati, but sounds as good as the Maserati and looks more bold than the M550i and the S6. It's an alternative, not an upgrade.
      The M5, RS6 and E63S are upgrades. That's why they cost that much more.

    • @harvinmahal
      @harvinmahal 7 лет назад +12

      i guess it depends on the person. Personally i love the fact that it just has a big V8, kinda reminds me of the dodge charger, but surely this has much better built quality, and probably less running costs than the germans. I find it an insanely dope daily. Plus i love how it looks

    If u want a better quality interior go for the presidential line of the Gs 450h, it has an incredible interior and if it wasn't for the new lcd screens on the E class the Lexus blows it away completely. The choice of materials and craftsmanship is flawless with far less plastic than What's in this car. The truth is all the cars in this segment have some plastic in them, there is not one competitor without plastic materials. What matters is that the plastic is soft touch and that's what is in the Gs 450h 2017 presidential line.

      @MrMustangrick thanks for responding. I love the car but the $50-$60k range for a 2016-2017 with decent mileage is tough to justify considering what can be had for that kind of money....CTS-V, well built or all original muscle cars and classics, etc. An Audi S6 or S8 for around half that with money to spare for maintenance and upgrades is also an option I've considered. I know the GSF has its special place for what it is. Let's just say I have an eclectic taste and can be indecisive. it's ridiculously overpriced for what it is. Specs don't lie. "it's a misunderstood system" sounds like what apple fans like to say when people point out how expensive macs are for their performance.

    I feel these cars are so underrated in my area. This seem like a really good performance cruiser with lots of road presence but I barely see any on the roads. Maybe it's a location thing. I almost feel the lexus brand as a whole is not really out there... Maybe its me. Does anyone agree?

      Well, in Miami, these car from lexus really aren't out in the field. What I mean is that anything that is from their performance 'F' lineup is almost non existent but there a huuge amount of IS 250s and 250 F sports around, you almost see one on every corner.

    • @MonteMatt85
      @MonteMatt85 7 лет назад

      airriderz15 exactly! You worded it better. Yeah the F cars are almost non existent. I was just in Connecticut and I saw plenty F models though. I saw 2 RC Fs. I hardly see any lexus besides the IS in Michigan.

    In the C63, it makes 469 horsepower
    $144,900 to $173,990 for the C63 S and C63 S
    Lexus gs f with a 5.0L V8 producing 467 horsepower
    The 2020 GS F starts at $85,010
    That's insane
    Maybe only rich people can afford to buy German cars and when it breaks you will cry homie

      Dude who would spend 50k on an e60?!?!?!?!? You can get f10 for that price which is laugjably faster than the e60. Is built much better looks better and can produce alot more power with simple mods. E60 is bad example their very unreliable.

    Good video but a bit odd...the interior has too much plastic? I drive a 2015 BMW 335i M Sport and one of my best friends has a 2014 BMW 550i M Sport and our steering wheel, which gets tons of praise, has some of the cheapest plastic in the automotive universe and no one ever comments on that.
    I would also say the interior on the GS is better than the 5 series and my 3 series by a pretty hefty margin. While my time in the GSF is somewhat limited I"ve got a lot of time in the GS350 F Sport which is a far nicer car than my 3 series or my buddies 5 series AND it drives better too, especially in Sport or Sport plus. The suspension is tuned better less wallow and roll, the steering is tuned better which inspires confidence, throttle tip in is great, the transmission is on par with the 8AT sport in the BMW products. Only area where BMW wins in my judgement is brake feel, and even at that its a marginal win. The brakes on the GS 350 are a touch spongy, can't really comment on the GS-F with regard to brake feel.
    Good video as usual

    I can only imagine what Lexus can pull off once they start turbocharging their engines. Lexus has always been deemed lesser of their German rivals because of their reluctance to take the turbocharging route. But the landscape will level once all participants being battling on equally powerful engines.

    This car would be much more reliable than the German cars, guaranteed. Thats why old stuff is used; naturally aspirated engine, a torque converter automatic and not a dual clutch etc. Lexus knows that these things work and will be durable because theyve been perfected over years. If youre not that rich, you'll have much greater satisfaction owning a car that is reliable but not as technologically advanced.

    The reason why you're having trouble with that infotainment system is because you have the steering wheel on the wrong side. If it were on the correct side, ie the left side, then you would probably be using your right hand for that mouse thing. Vast majority of people are right handed.
