This Just In: I Drive The V8-Powered 2020 Lexus GS F - Here's Why It's The Lexus I'd Buy!

- ( www.TFLcar.com ) In a time when Lexus is shifting to new hybrid powertrains and all-wheel drive, this Lexus GS F still carries on with its massive 5.0-liter naturally-aspirated V8. It's not the most powerful sports sedan around, but it's huge fun - but should you actually buy one?

Flop in sales, but you have to pay sticker price.Trying to negotiate with a Lexus dealer is like negotiating with my dentist.
@Dora Is Stupid "I'll give you pocket lint, my goat and 50 whole pennies for the operation."
Dora Is Stupid well ur name pretty much explains you. he just compared them because it’s impossible to negotiate
Agree, Lexus dealer does not negotiate. I ended up with a M5, $6k off mrsp and a shit load of incentives... And i just realize how rich some folks here are. I always negotiate with my dentist.

@@Lexman00 lol, I'm cheap and broke, i sell all my used cars to the next Dave Ramsey follower, never have i fixed anything.... I must say i am as poor as they come, but when u look and act the part things are just given to you.. Followed Dave Ramsay for 15 years before i learned this.
I have been driving mine for 3 weeks now and love it more each day. The car is fantastic in so many ways. It is truly a daily driver/track car. Best car I've ever driven. I use every feature on the car, it's like a James Bond car, looks like a sleeper, but she can get up and go with the best of them. It's smooth as silk and at speed. If you pick one up used, stay away from the 2016, it doesn't have the improved electronic suspension and it's needed for a smooth ride, anything 2017 or newer is great, if you can find colors you can live with. They make some strange color choices with this model. I found the 100th anniversary model with the matte grey and blue leather interior that looks great, blue calipers instead of those hideous orange, but that's just me, to each his own, spending that kind of money, I needed colors I liked, not just put up with. Great car.
Bill, nice, I have a 2017 in Atomic Silver and it gets a lot of looks. Love this F !
My 2016 rides great, extremely smooth and comfortable and stiff enough when I push her hard, but thanks for your opinion. ;)
This car makes me stiff and hard
4:24 "unfortunately may be the last of a dying breed". but yet you were complaining about the V8 being old... wats up with you journalists always calling a engine old just because they didnt turbocharge it or replace it with a crap motor like wtf
Have one and love it. Bought it 2 years old at a great price.
Drive one and you will understand.
yeah, how many miles? any problems?
Yeah i want one when i get older
@@lexithelexus7377 Lexus/ Toyota don't have much problem's when new its when they get older like 8-10 ish years
What was the “great price”?
I have a brand new 2020 GSF. I totally agree with you, on paper, it kinda sucks. But once you actually drive it you will understand that it’s just as good as the M5, E53, Audi S6 ETC
Lexus engine is like ROLEX watches. last forever.
Agree.
Yup I've got 167k on my ISF, getting ready to step up to the GSF but sometimes I just think why? My ISF still rides like new. Other than burning through tires, maintenence cost have been minimal
How about Toyota? They are basically same lol
@@EagleWolfSparrow Yes the same. better than German engines.
Great car. I still miss my 2008 GS430 which was an absolute blast when wanted and smooth luxury as well
That's why I will never sell mine lol.
Ohh the gs430 is garbage GS 460 ALL THE WAY PAPI
I like that front end, it's weird but different
Look at the 2016, GS 350, model; looks like a pissed-off Samurai's face!
You lease an BMW / Mercedes. You finance a Lexus. :D
Agreed
Another reason I like Lexus is there is no Boring stick on screen lol
@R. Guardia does that mean that mercedes cars are reliable for 5 years? Like no fail engines?
@@ajreyes1262 Leasing is for you to switch up cars mostly before 2-3 Years when you are done you give them back. The reason why bmw and mercs are leased is because it probably and most likely wouldn't even be able to last through a financing option. Financing is when you keep the car usually this loan last for 3-5 years because of higher interest rates.
Keeper..
Lexus hasn’t announced that the GS is going away, that’s only being said on forums which we all know how that goes lol
The only news Lexus has released is that they’re working on a twin turbo 4.0 V8
Let's GO champ
Yeah, look at how long they took to bring out the redesigned LS.
A twin turbo V8 on a redesigned IS F.
Oh boy, that would be amazing!
Yousef Al-A'ssaf يوسف العسّاف BUMBOCLUT
The car sales person said that they will not be carrying anymore GS which sucks cause I was eyeing it. Well he told me this in august when I picked up an NX. It was not making any sales where I am at and Japan was not really seeing numbers.
The GS F looks amazing. Hopefully it'll stick around for a while.
Rumors are it will be discontinued in 2021
It’s been around for a while already lol Lexus needs to give us the v6TT from the ls500 in the new ISF
xCkillaxC no way they’re working on a V8TT
BASITH PH Proof?
xCkillaxC it’s on Car and Driver Lexus is working on a new LC F
I drive the RC F as my daily. Very comfortable, looks bad ass and great rumble with a Borla exhaust.
Color screams "PULL ME OVER"
The Franchise cops see Lexus and say nah never mind can’t be fast
So does the exhaust.
B Long the exhaust is trash stock. They reserved the nice exhaust for the LC 500.
Anthony D. Thank God for aftermarket.
VIN 3053 Press Car - one of three Flare Yellow GSF for 2020! These are rarer than any GT3, GT3RS, etc you'll ever come across! A very special car indeed!
Kudos to Toyota for keeping the V8! And honestly Toyota could have used the engine and interior from this car into the Supra!
I own one, Silver with Black interior and Orange brake calipers. Love the triple beam LEDs. I'm keeping it for as long as I can, no desire to mod it either. But damn that Yellow looks good.
Can't afford a GS-F, planning to get the RC-F since they're the same engine and $10k cheaper used here.
its predecessor IS-F is one of the most underrated cars ever. 420hp NA V8 on a tiny sedan. Few owners have like 200K+ miles with just basic maintenance and still track occasionally. And just an example of how reasonable maintenance is that it needs only regular 5w30 oil! Can any M3 or C63 claim that?
Not to mention the engine is super easy to work.
That car is beautiful! Who cares about it being "old"... If it ain't broke... Then don't fix it!
KeenCrafting Exactly
That doesn’t help sales and will put them in a bad position financially. Lexus was once ahead in the technology department, but now they are far behind.
I loved Lexus a lot, but went Audi and have not looked back. AWD, all new tech, and much faster.
@@ryanb8736 what kind of audi do you own ?
@@cjmilly5727 RS3
These might not be the fastest but this is one of the last pure cars left.
The GS platform in general is underrated. All gs models drive so good. Interior feels way better than the IS or ES. Truly an amazing car and I hope Lexus doesn't discontinue it. " Hey LEXUS " Give the gs350 more horsepower like 340hp and youll sell a ton if them.
If I had money. I would definitely buy this. Reliable and Fast. You cannot get these 2 ever.
I love the GSF but for that much might as well spring for the V8 LC500 they are more rare and also a coupe. Also there interior has been vastly updated
Yes but you can't get an active TVD in the LC500 that's what GSF is all about.
Jappy Time i doubt it, Toyota and Lexus have a really good track record for auto trans, rarely ever see them go out on them. And the 5.0 v8 in it is basically the same engine as the ISF and I’ve seen those with over 250k
Lexus will outlast the other brands.. everyone wants the most updated technology but dependability nothing can compare
With something that's worth 90k if rather just buy a old 2003 gs400 for 5k with mods pushing the same power reliably. Rather pick this up once it's in the 40s.
Do it!! Buy one! I would go get one tomorrow if I had $90,000 to spare. A Mustang GT and a Lexus GS F = the perfect garage.
I think you can still get the genesis with the 5.0.
These used are very desirable property. I have owned AMG Mercedes and the Lexus quality and reliability are very important to consider on this car. There is nothing worse to have oil leak on a 100 k German car. Lexus don’t break and they don’t leak oil.
Oil leak isn’t big deal on German cars, most diy can fix it cheap.
I'm a proud and very happy owner of the GS350 F-Sport variant of this same car and if rumors are true Lexus is killing the GS line altogether then the GS-F is my next natural upgrade. Lots of folks really under estimate the fit and finish, handling, overall driving experience and fun.
These cars are what old school BMW used to be like. Think e39, e30, e46 chassis with same driving dynamics, handling, real steering feel, road presence and overall driving experience is amazing on these cars.
Folks looking for not only a luxury sports sedan but one that won't break down, I'd highly recommend to look for these used. Sure they don't have the latest and greatest bells and whistles like the German counterparts but you won't miss them and won't become an endless money pit.
GIVE THE MAN A RAISE !!!!!!
thanks for a morning video before work
Great cars don’t get old.
No one beats lexus
I have one and it’s amazing. It’s better than my e60 m5. They do depreciate pretty hard from new, but take a look at is-f’s and you’ll see how they kind of plateau. Makes sense, because the market knows these are reliable cars. Not so much the Germans, and their long term pricing reflects that. To me, this is a no compromise car, unless you care what other German fanboys thing.
plenty of mustang's ,challengers , chargers and Camaros with v8s still available
New GS needs to be a sportback like gtr 4dr and 4 series grand coupe and all models AWD with the option to switch 2wd. All Turbos for. Flat plane crank v4 v6 and v8. Large digital dash boards. That is the winning formula for the next gen!
Waiting for these to drop down on the used car market
Rhanier Santiago they never do
I am from former Yugoslavia and I love the shirt.
I love how there isn't some giant ugly tablet stapled above the climate controls like other cars.
Still worth the money ha ha.

aws Dws if you buy them used is a better buy with the GS.
Loser
Can u do a drag race between this and bmw m3 !
GS F Is a great car!
My 04 Infiniti g35 coupe auto when i put it in manual allows me to hit red line without changing all the time
At 90k you gotta be nuts. Pick one up in the mid 40s and you will be very happy. I prefer the isF. More or less the same drive train in a 3700lb car.
Hey Nathan, nice Ray Bans!
my 2001 automatic IS300 lets me rev to redline.. I think I overdid it one time tho, and my check engine light came on. When I checked it out only the valve cover gasket needed replacing but the transmission was damaged a bit. However that could also be due to taking a U turn over an island that I didn't see.
There's a limiter close to redline. How do you know your transmission is damaged? Is it excessively slipping? Won't immediately go into gear? Unless you cracked your transmission going over an island (highly unlikely) it's fine. Excessive engine revving doesn't hurt the transmission if it's in neutral or park.
I would take a Lexus over a BMW, Audi, or Mercedes counterpart, less hassle with repairs & maintenance. The key word is “less” as there’s no such thing as stuff not breaking with any manufacturers and Lexus/Toyota just requires the least maintenance if you take care of it. Less things to worry about when you are “taking care” of it, and also cheaper parts when you need to replace(in comparison to German parts Lol).
But the shirt man! Love from Serbia motherland of sad sad sad Yugo
hahahha love the car
Love that GSF!! I am a fan of the Lexus cars atm, I have a few lexus videos too if you want to see it :)
I love my GS-F but the transmission sucks in traffic
I love this car!!!

That plenum cost almost 4k just to be blue 😂😂
No thank you, I’d rather pay $30k more and get to know my local mechanic at a deep personal level and fund their kids private school tuition.
It also won’t give you the luxury experience of being stranded.
For those reasons, it’s Germans only for me.
It’s a cool car but the price, I could have a Chrysler 300 SRT for like 25,000 used, I would take that over a 90,000 car
You can get these used for $40,000-$50,000. They are way better quality wise than the Chrysler 300SRT
My problem with the new GS’s? It looks like a IS in the front and a ES in the back. I dont care how great this car is. Looks matter. Give the GS its own identity again PLEASE!!!😤😤😤
Well I know for sure the second gen GS can rev to red line and actually pass red line

90 grand for 400 plus horsepower? OR for less you could buy a CTS V with over 600 which would literally eat its lunch many times over in any metric you can imagine including styling. Yeah pass on this Lex.
I'd rather have a 4 cyl sienna

Btw. 4000 lbs is not 2 tons.
Things it does well, lauded beyond fairness, weaknesses, glossed over; back to the drawing board for this review.
90k? Ha ! I love Lexus but the styling it looks like a decked out Camry. Lexus it’s def not worth that I’m sure they won’t sell many, if Toyota wanted to make a fun car they should off put that engine in the Supra and kept bmw out of it.
Nah..interior got to be Wood trim
Now I have to start a GoFund me page. :-(
I'd rather buy an Alpha and I've owned almost every GS model.
Alpha is unreliable junk compared to any lexus

@@pryme2013 so far I haven't read our seen any major issues on any forum. Also there are plenty of persons documenting their ownership. So like I said, I'd rather buy an Alfa for less
@@TeXasDadBod no I haven't, but if I was looking to waste money I probably would. There are many other choices I would pick before I would pay 90k for that. The performance value for money isn't there. They aren't event holding good value anymore. Used GSFs are in the really low 40s and RCFs are in the 30s. Both are also basically not mod friendly. The power grains are minimal vs money spent.
I don't need to drive an F variant to get thrills out of a V8. My twin turbo Sc400 does about the same in HP with about 100 more in torque at the wheels.

I get about 14 mpg real life in my GSF. Not complaining though.
BMW owners replace turbos, replace valve seals, replace cylinder heads, replace expansion tanks, replace thermostat housings. Lexus owners replace brake pads, replace oil and oil filters. Which would you prefer???
There is no other naturally aspirated vehicle out there that features extreme comfort, best sound, great power, fast blazing transmission, top notch craftsmanship and million mile reliability.
That color 😍. Drivers car for sure not focused on being overpowered. Reminds me of the E39 M5 . This GSF is one of the best sedans on the market hands down
Beautiful sedan. This car is a 10/10. Lexus makes the best luxury drivers cars from japan. Love the F brand. Can’t wait to see what the next generation F Models are gonna be like
Probably turbo'd junk with that Madza partnership. I'd rather take the v6 model with more luxury features and less maintenance and fuel cost of the V8. With that said, I am looking at Lincoln as an alternative to the GS and ES. A more special car with more quality interiors and prestige.
Another thing with Lexus is they think their cars are worth their weight in gold and keep a car on the lot for months and don't drop the price to market value for depreciation. I'd always ask for 5-10k off the dealer price due to this vary reason.

If they simply update the Infotainment system and add Newest Auto Lane keep driving Centering function,(basically add all 2022+ Lexus Car Features) this GS F would be GOLD. I would literally Buy this car if theres off market to do it (Elon Musk once said he would be able to add Radar and Self driving hardware to all Car brands later)
Spend 3K more and get an entry level LC500 with a better tuned version of the NA V8, greater luxury and updated tech. GSF exhaust pales in comparison to the LC500 exhaust note.
I owned a 2013 GS350 F-sport and that car was rock solid. Never had a service issue with it over seven years. I wish Lexus would introduce a new generation GS but it seems they are going to kill it. What a shame. The GS was the best Lexus I ever owned until I upgraded to a 2019 LC500 w/ performance package.

Also: they probably chose carbon fiber so they could markup the price more than brushed aluminum. You have to remember with a lot of cosmetic changes they charge more. For example, non matching black mirror covers and a spoiler cost exactly the same to make. Literally just a part swap that doesn’t cost anything but they will charge $500 for that because it makes it look more “aggressive”.
