Gosh I love this channel! Back in the day we didn’t have slow/medium/fast reducers. Painted DuPont Centurion when I could see my breath in the shop. My boss at the Toyota shop started me in the body shop then had me painting cars out of his car collection. Everything from a 36 Packard limo to a 63 Studebaker Avanti. The Avanti was the last car I painted in 1978, and the family still has it. Of all the jobs I’ve had over the last 50 years, painting cars was the most rewarding. Still keep the gun active restoring motorcycles in 2024. Learned painting skills painting model cars in the early 60s. Miniature paint booth and Testors rattle cans.
Great info! Years ago, when I first dipped my hands into backyard painting, I knew little about reducer temp and just settled for whatever result, but being in NW Florida and since adding a booth hygrometer (thanks to you!), I've noticed that even in 60-70 degree weather, the booth temp can get up to 10 degrees higher for a sustained time. Slow reducer and even hardener has now become my standard for the majority of the year with better results.

The closer your color match is the better the blend will be You can blend colors that have darker flops that's where you will start to use body lines for your blends if this color had a terrible flop then I would have tried to blend off of a body line or take it all the way back to the end of the bedside and lose the blend where it wraps around to the tailgate. I don't really care it's a skill on it's own to be able to do a clear blend that doesn't need to be buffed. So I rather have that skill than lack it. Those are paint divas that act like that. They probably don't like them because they are not good at them lol I don't know. 😂

Full fan 3 turns out from closed on fluid and 30 pai
Do you like doing clear blends? I’ve met a couple painters who hate them. I’ve had to learn to get good at them painting boats. Blending in mess ups from the finish line in small areas with no wet bed. I’ve never done a burn in but how do you feel about those?
I don't really care it's a skill on it's own to be able to do a clear blend that doesn't need to be buffed. So I rather have that skill than lack it. Those are paint divas that act like that. They probably don't like them because they are not good at them lol I don't know. 😂
@@thetriggerman954 😂🤣😂 I think diva is a good way to describe it. yeah sometimes when I’m doing little resprays on stuff I can’t fix without a respray on boats I have to come back the next day and buff it. The top coat blender will run quick. If I’m trying to go fast sometimes I forget to dial the fluid in a half turn and blast it. 😂 if it doesn’t run into the clear then it usually just gases off? I’ll come in the next day you can see where the run was but it feels flat. Light scuff and a buff and it usually turns out good. 👍 😂 definitely a skill
@@nickcrill7718 yes sir, have had that happen in the past. Can definitely relate. Lol
Can you make a video of you're favorite base coat and clear coat guns

Is that clear blending before paint ing
@@abcardenas35 not sure what you're asking
What's wet bed
@abcardenas35 that's a base coat blender. Which is " base coat with no color"
@thetriggerman954 awesome thank you
Each one teach one, is your clear base the same product line as your silver base?
No the base blender is a transtar product. I like it because it doesn't need to be reduced. There should be a link in the description for it, it's on Amazon
Man in South Florida I always use slow no matter what.
Facts 😎 unless we're having one of our 6 cold days per year 😂 other than that slow slow slow
What gun are you using for clear?
Sagola 4600 extreme
Hey dude, the Laca trina.
Do you like those guns better than an iwata?
Hey Dude, they both have their strengths for different things. I want a LPH400 and Sagola 4600 extreme are two of my favorite spray guns.
@@thetriggerman954 I have one of most of the guns I can get up here in northern Canada, but honestly, I never stray far from my Iwatas. Been hearing lots about the Sagola, maybe I'll try through Amazon or something
How do you spell the catrina ? Not segola
sagola la catrina

Can't save everybody 😭🤣
TMs troll sounds like Cheech Marin, u'd think he;d to busy counting all that film cash..... Here in the UK we have the reverse prob trying to get everything warm enough for paints to work in their temp operational windows..... thanks for the upload!
Lol @ Cheech 😂 so basically the same rules apply in the UK you can't use slow reducer if it's cold in your booth. You gauge which reducer by then booth temperature 🌡️
Thank you for chiming in James 💪🏼

1 coat for trigger is like 3 coats for me lol. I swear he made like 5 passes then says 1 cost haha . Respect not hating just find it funny .
😂😂😂😂😂😂 It's hard to break old habits man lol I started painting like that when I worked at his shop that had three painters other two painters got fired so I told the boss let me run the show and see how I do so I had two preppers and two spray boots and I was turning almost 400 hours no time put on light coats I put my based on one car heavy leave that spray booth walk into the next spray booth put base on that car heavy go back to the other spray booth by that time the base had tacked off put on my next coat etc etc most money I ever made in my life was from spraying that way. Now I'm on a salary and it's just a habit now so if I ever have to go back to working where time matters I already be programmed that way.
Nice job trigga. I remember when I first started i sprayed a metallic that looked like sand😳 . I had no idea about what reducers to use....the store probably sold me fast for 100 degree Florida heat. 😁
Yeah man took me a while to learn that crap I had a few 80 grit texture Metallics when I first started 🥹
