I live in Northeastern Indiana, but I grew up in Richmond, VA which is near Ashland. My aunt had a farm near Ashland. My mother and I used to take trains to and from Ashland to visit my aunt in the summertime. The tracks in Ashland are the old Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac lines of Civil War fame. They are the main North/South rail lines on the East Coast. We used to board trains from the station that was right by the tracks in the middle of town. I don't know if the station is still there. One of my many early memories of these tracks was a time when I saw some diesels pulling a line of rusting steam engines to meet their fate. This video brings back many railroad memories. Thank you for that.
Great video, love the Passenger Cars. My wife and I have taken the Amtrak from Connellsville Pennsylvania to Harper's Ferry West Virginia a few times. At that time, due to track conditions, there were slow areas in travelling (track maintenance going on), but it would speed up nicely much of the time. But we were going to stay at the HillTop Hotel in Harper's Ferry (the Hotel is now gone), so even the slower moments were just more time on the train, what's to complain? The food was great, in the dining car, we were seated with strangers, after all, it's not a restaurant. But again, the food was worth it. The observation car was full length, and at night, when there wasn't much to see, in the observation car, they'd play movies, and they seemed like recently released ones, or ones still in the theater. Fun stuff. Still figuring to go to Reno Nevada one day on the Amtrak, we have relatives there. Thanks again, great show.
Longest passenger train in the UK is the overnight sleeper train from London Euston to Inverness/Fort William/Aberdeen. It leaves Euston with 16 coaches and splits into three portions in Edinburgh.
Millennium is great. I wish I was younger and healthy and could travel like they do. I tell everyone now, do everything while you are young, while you can. Don't put anything off You never know when you are going to get sick and be bed ridden I can't do anything now All I have is RUclips
Great catch! After all these years I finally got a couple vids of this train! Of course, I'll never see it running down the middle of the street haha 🤣🤣
The no left turn connected to the crossing stanchion is unique and rare. Glad you got it on film. P42 Genysis. "Genisys, Genisys is planet forbidden NO!" Quote Star Trek, all rights reserved.
Wife's account and not her opinions Awesome to see this we moved to Florida but we were from Rappahannock County VA west of Fredericksburg and spent many days in Ashland just to see the street running your video brought back many happy memories love your content I grew up in Chicago and remember Milwaukee Road and Chicago Northwestern IC North Shore South Shore and many now merged or defunked railways thank you for your hard work really appreciate it oh almost forgot the SP Daylight when it was the Freedom Train in 1976 was unforgetable
YESS!! LIVE AMTRAK ACTION!! I love the sounds of the engine! Roooosh! haha! Glad to see the ambulance make it across! Enjoyed the street running AMTRAK! Saved to my locomotives playlist! Thanks for sharing!!
Nice video of railroad street running but I wish it was the old school railroad street running where the rails are embedded in the tracks without the roadbed all the way out. But this is still great and love all of the Amtrak passenger trains, really cool.
Mary and I rode the Amtrak from Florence SC to Richmond VA. Took a cab to Ashland, because of train scheduling, and stayed at the Inn in behind the train station. Our first and as yet only train travel/fanning trip. Cant say I'm in love with the travel but we did enjoy a lot of it. Ashland was a hoot!
Another awesome video Jawtooth -you and your buddy millenium force sure get around ! Ash land always looks good for train watching ! That sure is one loooong Amtrack tho ! Regards
Cool video Brian. I believe Virtual Railfan has cameras set up in Adhland VA and you can see how often the freights and Amtrak pass by during the course of the day.
Ashland sure is a hot spot for trains. The auto train must be very successful with a consist like that. Here in the Poconos we have nothing. It used to be a big rail hub, but not anymore.
Looks like the "take your car, too!" train that runs between DC and Florida. There's a good video on YT that shows how they load cars onto the train cars.
@Jawtooth Just so you'll know, I've decided to start a RR channel for real and model railroading. Just wanted you to know my new screen name. PS: Ironically, Meigs County is the only county in Tennessee that does not have any railroad tracks.
Well, this is a first, a single leveled Amtrak train.. with the baggage car at the end instead of behind the locomotive at 4:55. Anyway, another award-winning railroad video Jawtooth! 😁 Tony 59-year-old Black Air Force VET 🇺🇸
Florida trains often have the baggage car on the rear when heading North. And as Hialeah was the maintenance base for them when new, there often were more than one baggage car on a train.
Yes, on Williams Street just like in Ashland. I really want to film some trains there, hopefully in the summer. I think that is RJ Corman Railroad. Is that right?
Jaw Tooth you should go to kings island on May 2nd me and the lukancic band play there you should go to see that and to chill meet me all of that I depart my school at around 6am on May 1st I go back to my school on the 3rd of May so the 2nd we have fun at kings island besides playing there on this trip please go for the oh wait there’s more I can do it you can meet me during that you should make a video when you see me there thanks Phil Kirman AKA rocky fanatic 68

Excellent Jawtooth! However, near the end...your youthful assistant announcing “There’s more” ....just goes to show that you also need a tripod too...so you can make announcements without the ‘floating, detached head’ effect that the ‘selfie’ produces! We’d get a complete view of Jawtooth then. I wish I could join you on your trips...they’re great....but my travelling days are over. Keep up your excellent work...much appreciated! Rob, in Bournemouth, England.
Funnily enough I’ve been looking in on the Ashland live cams recently on Virtual Railfan’s RUclips channel. What a great railfanning place and Jaw Tooth - this is a great video - very well done. The filming of the night time freight in the crossing street lights - looks great. Really enjoyed it.
Wow. You should have checked it out pre SCL early 60s. RF&P. Trains every 10 minutes during the winter. Multiple sections of Champion,Florida Special ,Silver Meteror,Star ,freights. It was a train watchers paradise.
First time seeing eighteen Superliners on the AT. I had read a few years ago (TRAINS, 1/2015) that Amtrak had upgraded the A-T's Superliners with LED lighting to save power so the HEP could accomodate a 17th car. Must've saved more power than I initially heard. This is right after I completed a project to retrofit my O-Gauge Superliners with LED lights so I could run a model of this train--at the time, 9 Superliners and 12 autoracks--but now I have enough equipment to run 10-12 Superliners and 21 autoracks. After five years, I still have the only video on RUclips of a model Amtrak Auto-Train in O-Gauge :)
There have been days in the winter when they exceeded that number. Longest one I've been on had a total of 45 cars. And had 3 locos. We did not waste any time on that trip although the fuel stop in Florence was a little bit longer than normal. They could run 30+ passenger cars if needed but it would tie up a third loco just for the HEP. Don't think the FRA would look too kindly upon it providing motive power on the rear although I have ridden on a passenger train with two Amtrak locos on the front and a MRL SD-40 on the rear pushing.
It would be awesome to live in such a place, where so many trains could be seen each day. That was fabulous.
Thanks for watching !
Love the rail fans sitting on the sidewalk❤️❤️❤️
I can’t believe I found this video. This is my hometown. I’ve lived here all my life. A great place to live.
Very cool! I have more videos from Ashland and I have a street running playlist you might like
I like watching trains at night.
My father has taken that train,he takes it every year to Florida and back in the winters
I swear I can feel the vibrations when those trains go by.

Virtual railfan Ashland!
It’s also one of Amtrak’s few profitable routes

My two year old loves trains and this video makes him so happy. Thanks for doing this!
That’s a cool location to film trains!
It gives a lot of dramatic appeal to see the approaching locos coming right down a ‘Main Street’!

Your Amtrak Station video reminds of years gone by at night the Amtrak Station in San Diego, CA
Cool video Brian. I believe Virtual Railfan has cameras set up in Adhland VA and you can see how often the freights and Amtrak pass by during the course of the day.
Great video JT!!!!!

Well it's a first again for you Jaw Tooth Amtrak auto racks. Can honestly say I have never seen those before..nice video!
One time I passed a house that had train tracks in their drive way . Now that’s crazy
Where is it
If those tracks are active, I would not advise to park your vehicle in that driveway. Maybe those rails were taken out of service a while ago.

MORE Amtrak videos please! I like Amtrak too! Just like being a caboose fan... Same with Amtrak. They are so FAST & POWERFUL!

Excellent video as always
Thanks again!

Oh thanks! I forgot about the P40DCs
Why are passenger engines different than the ones used for freight?
@@mikepottle6647 Passenger engines are geared to run at high speeds. For example, 79-110 mph. Freight trains run at slower speeds such as 35-65 mph.
There different becuase passenger trains carry people and fright trains carry goods like food and logs
18 passenger cars,31 auto racks, and 2 locomotives. But not necessarily in that order.Lots fo CSX cars on that manifest. Thanks Brian.
Great video jaw tooth live action I love that term God bless
