- Street Running Trains In West Virginia! A CSX tank car train with a few flat cars, a CSX coal train Q317, a high railer and a CSX manifest are seen running down the center of the street in Saint Marys West Virginia. This historic town along the Ohio River gets a handful of trains a day. My friend Scott ( 1960gambit ) and I went there to film the CSX streetrunners on August 25, 2017. We saw 3 trains and one high rail truck in about 9 hours from 11:10am to 8:20pm. We ate at The Boxcar restaurant on Second Street with the tracks next to us. This small town is a must visit for any railfans who like street running trains. Trains use 160.230 and 452.9375 for EOT and there is a defect detector a couple miles west of here near MP79. Update: I returned here on July 13, 2021 and found that fewer trains run here now. I was here for 45 hours and only 4 trains went through. 3 of the trains went through at night and one went through in light at 7am. You need a lot of luck to catch a train here. Thanks for watching! First off I'm back, had a bit of a health crisis and came close to death. Luckily I pulled through and still doing a bit better. Always love watching trains running through a town. Longer the better... keep up the good work my friend
When I was a conductor for CANADIAN PACIFIC, we ran thru a little town in Southern Penn named Halifax. It was more than 20 years ago, memory a bit fuzzy, but if I recall, the town was so small, you could almost touch the homes if you or the engineer stuck his hand out the window. It was a little north of Harrisburg on the SE side of the susquehanna river.
I looked it up on Google maps. There are some houses that are very, very close to the tracks there
My friend is from there and she had such admiration for her childhood even when they were so poor.
😅Jawtooh you make trainwatching such a pleasure !!!!!!
I actually live, and was raised in saint marys my whole life. What makes it interesting is the tracks that run through the town lie on main street. Trains have stopped at the beginning of town before for parades. Most of the town is themed with train including 2 restaurants. The Pizza Station and the Boxcar.
Very rare to see a train in the middle of the street and passing through the village, it seems unreal....like
Sultan_Train some actual like town is more common but a village is pretty rare
Excellent video of my old hometown...I was born in St. Marys 25 March 1935 at my Grandma Morris's house around 8:30 in the morning..I left there around 1947 for parts unknown....I went by the name of Bill because my middle name is William and My Grandma called me Bill for reasons unknown...
Jaw Tooth you rock!!! THANK YOU
How cool, now I need to take a trip out there. Loved the old pics you added. Thanks for all your hard work :-))
Loved it! Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Wow its beautiful there Jaw Tooth, Gorgeous train catches down the little lovely town!! I enjoy it, thanks for sharing Jaw Tooth!! 😄😄
Cool stuff, street running right through the heart of downtown. This wasn't some little short train either. Thanks for being the man on the spot, Brian.
I saw the little Foodgiant is still there on the corner. I loved that store. I would stop off there after my night shift at Colin Anderson and buy a few things. They catered to the 1-2 person families. If you wanted hamburger, you could just buy small packs for 1-2 instead of 3 or more lbs that you didn't need.
Its actually the hardware store now! Unfortunately, the food giant went out of business.
Good job jaw tooth I think it is cool to c a train go down the center of town where I live at we don't have that at all but think u for filming this for us train lovers great job
Nice Video!!!!!!!!!!! You are so lucky too see something like this in person. LOVED the draw bridge next to hotel video too!!!

AWESOME STREET RUNNER and definitely had a few coal cars. Nice job JT!
Thanks 👍
I have family that live there. The first time I saw the train come through the middle of town I was a kid. Freaked me out and also thought it was cool.
Great video.I've really enjoyed watching it. Happy Labor day Jaw Tooth to you and your family.
Hrllo, Mister TOOTH well here's a finest job you make ! thanks a lot for all of us, we really enjoy it !
Thanks for the excellent video dear Jaw *i like it* , i wish you a beautiful week,
friendly greetings Jutta 🌼😊
It's the Coooaaaallllllll train!!! 😁
Quiet an interesting setup. Hope you had a great labour day
If you every get down south there is a street train in downtown Tampa Fl., the horns really piss off the million dollar condos right next to the track :P
Great tanker & coal car action, live!!! You gotta have at least one coal train when you're in West Virginia.
Fantastico video complimenti Jaw ❤
Very nice!
Oakland CA has about a mile of street running downtown. As a kid there were 2 sets of tracks a block apart in the streets and a classic train station right in the middle. Station is still there but repurposed. Only one set now through Jack London Square but very active with Amtrak and freight all day 7 days a week.
I bet there's some awesome night photography opportunities in that place....
Sort of reminds me of the street running on Fentress Street in my hometown of Paris, Tennessee.
Thank you for posting this. I am in St. Mary's every once in a while and was always curious what it looked like to see a train go through town like that.
You are welcome!
After viewing and enjoying your LaGrange, KY videos I wondered if you had ever been to St Mary's, WV. Looks like cool places to visit. Great video.
Excellent!
Many thanks!
Hi...Dear friend. Sorry. I sincerely apologize for your late reply to the beginning.
Thank you for delivering a sincere and sincere support music train video to patients and staff as always. Patients who are forced to lie in bed share a fun time to change anything. Giving patients hope and courage to live in the future lost due to injuries and diseases, your video over a rainbow bridge is a great pleasure for patients. We sincerely hope that our staff will continue supporting your video in the future. I wish you all the best. Have a nice day.!!!
Your friend:-)Sawa.
Every railfans fantasy:to have trains running down the middle of their neighborhood or hometown street. The one in LaGrange, KY is cool too. They recently resurfaced the First Ave grade crossing there.
Hai Brian, very interesting town to stay and film the trains.many greetings on the Family.greetz:Peerke and Tony.
Happy Labor Day Jaw Tooth:)
nice. very cool.
good job friend...like
COOL VIDEO!
Its beyond crazy for me to see a freight train in the middle of the street. Lol its wild!
amazing, Thumbs up! Wish u have a great day:) Love Hanna and Mia
Awesome
My mother was born there in the late 1890s...am familiar with the area. And know about two different train stations up in Wheeling WV too (One uncle an engineer for the old B&O). I had thot you were firsr telling about Ashland VA with its multiple street tracks (orig. 3, now only two rails)...CSX Freights and Amtrak Passenger trains...miss those huge articulated giants hauling the gondolas full of coal for the power plants...and steel mills...and chemical smells (why I left asap - via the military route...was only back when my father passed away and I had to sell the house - to an investor sighs!)..
Awesome video🇺🇸🇺🇸👍🙏✝️
Thank you kindly
Wow! I Never Caught A Streetrunner Train Before On Video Is It Fun I Probably Go To New Bern,NC To Catch One Aso Norfolk Southern Owns The Tracks When Norfolk Southern Goes Streetrunning Down Town New Bern,NC No Horn Quite Zone.

Nice Video 👍
Awesome video Jaw Tooth I subscribed
I'm in Wyoming Michigan and i don't know of a train track going down the main street of any town nearby... your videos are interesting for sure.
Find some time to look at Wycheproof vic australia It has a wheat train the runs up the middle of the town Only one in Australia and goes the whole length of the town . Population is only 635 persons in the 2016 census. it had aGM dealer in the town for 30 years . Population back then was 2500
Well, we got another one in. I was talking to a friend the other day and he informed me that there is street running in Frankfort, Ky. Maybe we need to take a hike down there and see what it`s like before old man Winter sets in? Still got another train from this trip with the smoking wheeled tanker to show!
Very cool Jaw Tooth
Cool!
There is street running in by CSX in La Grange KY also
Jawtooth you have some steady hands your like a surgeon with that camera.
I use a selfie stick and concentrate on staying steady. I also prop myself next to something if I can. Thanks for watching!
Don't they ever blow their horns in town ? Hearing the echo is what makes watching trains fun !
i have to go there some time
wow new CBTX
It's been about 10 years ago since I ran trains up and down 2nd Street in St.Mary's when I worked out of Benwood.
I can tell you it is nerve wracking watching out for pedestrians, vehicle's, and anything else that may wonder out in front of the train.
Speed limit is a permanent 10 MPH through there for the entire train until it clears the speed restriction.
That must really be awesome being in the locomotive doing street running! So far, I have filmed trains street running in 5 different states. Can you believe Tampa Florida has CSX street running? Thanks for watching and commenting!
Jaw Tooth
I run up in Pennsylvania now out of Newell PA along the Mongahela River.
There's two spots up there where railroads share the streets with cars.
NS runs down Main Street in West Brownsville. They see quite a few trains through there from NS and CSX.
CSX runs down 1st. Ave. In Elizabeth PA which is the line I run on now. Again it can be nerve wracking.
happy labor day bro!
What a strange thing a train passes through the inside of a city or a neighbourhood. I imagine the railroad came first and then the constructions, but that way it's pretty weird
This is my hometown, and for us, it's normal. It's a small town built in the mid-1800s during the Victorian era. At that time, it made sense to build the town around the train tracks to make it easier for debarking passengers to get to the hotel, restaurant, saloon, etc.
@@ccudnik so passenger trains run on this track too?
wow awesome!!! i wanna go to LA Grange kentucky to see them never see trains on street because im closer to im from indiana
Across the river in Marietta , OH, the west side also has trains running on the street.
Yes, I know but it is very hard to catch a train there since they stopped hauling coal. I would like to catch one on that line if I can figure out when they run.
This is the (CSX Ohio River Subdivision) which is a branch line that runs roughly parallel to US-250/WV-2 and the Ohio River. This subdivision from the Ohio/Marshal County line near the town of Mozart WV has been abandoned to the northeast. To the southwest, this branch line will join the (CSX Kanawha Subdivision) east of the Guyandotte River and south of the Ohio River just to the west of Buffington Street [ 147966A] near Huntington WV.
This line enters Saint Marys West Virginia to the east near Middle Island Creek at the trestle and Cotrill Camp Road [147550K] between [MP-63] and [MP-64] and exits to the west near the Hi Carpenter Memorial Bridge. The last crossing on the west side of Saint Mary's is located on Bridge Street [147559W]. The station is located on the northeast corner of 2nd Street and Clay [147553F].

Happy labor day jaw!
That first train is carrying hazmat, that would be a little scary for the people and businesses downtown.
Thank you dropped a sub
Live Action!
Live action movie night 🌃🌃🌃🌃 I jump that in hart beat
100th thumbs up! 👍
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE>>>>
If only trains ran through streets like this in Scotland uk I would hop aboard just like a 1930’s hobo 👍🏼👍🏽🙄😳😁🇬🇧
Has there ever been a derailment there and do you ever do a video we're crazy try to beat trains, keep videos coming
happy Labor Day
This is Grade Crossing Number 147556B, George St., Saint Marys, WV.
Nice video of a street running train, Jaw Tooth! Does St. Mary welcome
rail fans who want to go see a street running train go thru their fair city??
Yes, they do. They are very nice here. I talked to a bunch of locals here just a few days ago when I returned. I spent two nights here and filmed a few more trains
Sept 7 geez its like a Time Warp this is pre Norfie
Sounds like the train is a little horn sick. Kinda like the one in my video CSX train at night
I would LOVE to have a section of track put in my yard and a caboose placed. How do I go about getting that done?
What are the lightning bolts on the engines for?
I wanna move to St Marys WV.
Nice enginer
I've smashed the like button 👍👍👍AGAIN 💪💪💪
#support 💕💕💕AS ALWAYS 💖💖💖
So is there an actual physical bell on the locomotive or is it just an amplified recording of a bell?
They have an actual bell on them
Engineer had a,few more cars then he started with! Lol
How busy is this line? I wanna come here someday and I hope to see more videos from you here.
I was there for 9 hours. 3 trains and one high rail truck went by. thanks for watching!
Jaw Tooth that’s not too bad. We’re right in the middle of town in case my family gets bored lol. There’s not much videos where we get to see the traffic lights activate. I desperately want to come here.
That is much more frequent then I thought it would be. So cool the community has embraced this street running train.
It would be great if a Heavyweight car was in the consist.
