- CSX manifest over 2 miles long running down the middle of the street for over 4 blocks! CEO Hunter Harrison has been running huge monster trains to cut costs. This manifest has all kinds of mixed freight and took almost 15 minutes to pass me. This historic railroad was built in the road over a hundred years ago and I have a couple historic photos near the end. This is Saint Marys West Virginia along the Ohio River. Thanks for watching! That was a MASSIVE STREET RUNNER with "203" cars! Awesome video JT and as you know the "STREET RUNNING TRAINS" are my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE!
Mine too!
At the back of the train should be a sign “We brake for nobody” 😁
The heartbeat and veins of America, right there. Imagine how many trucks we'd need to move that.
Sean White 203? One truck per carriage...
Seneca’s Adoptive Son don’t think he’s literally trying to think of how many we’d need
@@Dude0000 Most train cars hold more than a truck is legally allowed to haul. You certainly aren't going to have trucks hauling the same load as a 100 ton hopper, or a 125 ton freight car, which are their capacities. Most trucks are 40 tons and below.
scythelord just a guess to get the conversation going. Jesus!
@@scythelord yeah i thought rule of thumb was 3 trucks for every railcar. Like comparing your trunk to an 18 wherler lol
I had enough time to go to the kitchen and make a coffee. When I left there was black tankers going by, when I came back it was grey hoppers. WOW! that's one long train. Great video thanks for sharing.
Wow! Never seen a train go through a town like that so close to buildings and people.
The South Shore Line between Chicago, IL, and South Bend Indiana. There is a part in Michigan City, Indiana where the trains go road rolling along the tracks.
I thought I waited for long trains in the past, but this was REALLY long! And to think I didn't even have to be in my car. I could watch this video from the comfort of my easy chair. GREAT VIDEO! Job well done, thanks. And ONLY two locomotives doing the job. That's quite powerful!
I counted 203. That's a lot of train for only two locos.
That was my count as well.
8,400 Horsepower.
right on the $$$
8800 hp 4400 hp each
#5240 in the lead is a GE 4,000 horsepower ES40DC and #400 trailing is a GE 4,400 horsepower AC4400CW.
Yes, at about 3:01 or so, smoke coming off, what sounds like hand brake still on. That's not good!!!
Oh. Sure enough! Look at that! Real faint but makes sense. First time through, I was wondering about that "squeaky" sound as well. Same spot. That brake, perhaps? Not sure...
Got a handbrake on fire @3:01 the TCIX 175305. Look at the chain and the smoke, and listen to that faint squeaking!
On what appears to be an Ethanol car no less. That can't be good.
Good call dude.
Oh yeah, didn't notice it first time round. Well spotted sir.
It carries sodium hydroxide
Hard NOT to notice the smoke and SQUEAKING.
I find these street running trains fascinating. I never knew anything like this existed. The townspeople probably take it in stride and it’s probably not a big deal to them anymore but you still have to admit, it’s not something most of us see (especially running down the main part of town. Very cool!
Incidentally, I had an uncle who was an engineer and my mother told me he was killed one day trying to beat a train across the tracks. True story.
There doesn't seem to be a lot of love out there for Hunter Harrison. That train took forever going down the street.I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few upset people in cars waiting for it to pass.I enjoyed watching it.Great catch and thumbs up!!!!!
I always enjoy seeing how the city has the traffic lights wired up to approaching trains and the different types of flash sequences and warning devices different cities have in place. 🚦
So....this one flashes AMBER for the main drag.....and RED for the crossing traffic? Looks like an additional AMBER light for the main drag....I thought the sign there was mentioning about pedestrians....lol.
Nothing more heart wrenching than watching a train disappearing down the tracks!
Wow, I can't believe the train is going on roadways along with rails merged with the middle of the road. This is incredible to see!
Holy cow that was a very long one! They townies must love it when that happens.
I was expecting helper locos at the back, surprised to see that lot being pulled by just two locos.
Couldn't resist. "Didn't even count the cars," was said at the beginning. "Had to" (again). 204 cars plus 2 locomotives. That must be some flat terrain on that line for a train THAT long with no DPU. Guessing, what... 0.5% or maybe a 1% leading grade, and 1% at most? Impressive. Nice catch!
Wow....I got 193 cars in that freight and something for everyone except for box cars.
Great little town ....wonderful.
Nice video Brian, love your technique of scanning from the front along to the rear.
Great video, good size train for just 2 big units and no DPUs. Heartbeat of America right there.👍🏼🚂
You got that right!
Another awesome 👏 video guys as always, big thumbs up 👍🏼 from us , super happy 😊 to support everyone guys and you 👍🏼👍🏼👏👏
Impressive all those cars with 2 locomotives. Great catch.
Ringman Allen not really. 2-5 miles isn't uncommon
@@MBTAMoreRailfan still impressive!
That line runs the Ohio River Valley, and this train is headed downriver with no grades to speak of.
That's incredible! The most I"ve seen on a regular track was 138, and those were all the same kind of cars! This one had 194 cars!
Sweet video I caught a CSX train that came out of Rice Yard in Waycross Ga with 4 engines on it two covered NREX engines and 242 cars altogether. It was 14440 feet long or 2.7 miles long. The new attitude of CSX is "We don't care" IMO.
Speaking of Waycross, you may find this one to be interesting. It's CSX's retirement yard for locomotives. 2:17 long. Drone footage. ruclips.net/video/peSbb7mzGFo/видео.html
Wow! That was one long train, would hate to be the conductor and have to walk that train! Thanks for sharing!!!
203 or 204, they use to pull 300 carloads of coal out of west virginia every so often until the federal government made them stop.
Wow, 300 carloads would be a sight! That would be over 3 miles long. Thanks for watching!
They broke apart going up the Allegheny subdivision grade.
WOw! this is awesome,we don't have anything like this in the UK. Street trains are my favourite videos to watch, amazing & a very pretty town too, thank you JT. ❤
That may have been the longest train I have ever saw in my life 😜
I love that place so much. Cool to see the long train passing through!
I was born in 1940 in a house about 25 feet from the PRR along the Bald Eagle Mts. in Mill Hall, PA. I live in FL. now for 30 years. I like this video and others you made. Also I like your buddy Alan Smith. you both do a great job. I lke to watch the engine to the last car. Those cars tell you a lot about the train and where they are coming from. I was watching trains as soon as I could walk and met a lot of hobows along the way. Keep up the good work that is fun.
WOW!!! 207 cars!!!! ONLY TWO Engines! That is impressive! I had to watch twice and re-count
I always thought those tank cars were just for bulk liquid. But at 4:30, that placard is for Class 2 Flammable gases, with UN1075 being propane. I guess you learn something new every day!🤯
Glad there wasn't an ambulance or fire truck that needed to get through.
Good one, I counted 204 on. Took 13 minutes to, clear. What town is this in.?.
That is 2nd st. in St Marys, WV
204 cars took me like 7 minutes cuz a speed the video haha
If there is no alternative route to reach some parts of the city while the train is present I would be very surprised if there was not an arrangement in place with CSX dispatch to provide the emergency services dispatcher sufficient notice of approaching trains that the latter can dispatch standby resources to cover that area for the few minutes until the train passes.
Seraphina S I’m not sure if I’m right or not but the tracks might have been here before the roadway.
Wow I didn't see slot of Graffiti on this train . 😎😎😎
Erik Max Q Mcc 4:39
God bless America, from the UK!
When I watch this a second time I almost fell asleep again
Boss: Why are you 15 minutes late?
You: I was stopped by a train.
Boss: You're fired.
I counted 202 cars with 2 engines. They have a low speed limit when running through towns. Roughly 10, 200 feet, with locomotives. Close to 2 miles. Consider just how powerful the locomotives are now, to need only 2 locomotives. Their route must be mainly flat.
CSX runs through WV a lot. So no i wouldn't say their route is flat
There was 8,400 Horsepower pulling that train.
Most likely empty, no way they where loaded in CSX territory and 2 locomotives.
I got 203 including the 2 engines. . .
DaaYay loaded 3 head end minimum, only the center beam cars are loaded, everything else is empty.
That tanker car at 3min.7sec.seemed to have a brake dragging problem or something of the sort.It looks like there is smoke coming off of the car from down low and I hear it squeaking.
The only thing missing was a caboose on that train.
The red thing on the back of the last car on its hitch is called a FRED it has a strobing red light to show the end of the train day and night this is replacing the Caboose.
This is crazy a railway in the middle of the street
That was a crap ton of flammable and corrosive placards right through the middle of town.
This would delay emergency services big time if there ever was to be an issue . Can't believe how long the train is . Every tank car and covered hopper known to man is in this train . Nice catch , j t !
Right in the street! I can't get over that. I've never been to WV, but if this goes on, I don't want to.
I like your street running trains. We have something close to this in East Twas, Michigan
• Cheers from The Detroit & Mackinac Railway 🚂
trainroomgary same as in alpena, yet we have curbs on the sides. it sux. BTW. road wise for those that don't know is 62 miles from alpena to tawas, it takes the train 6 hours to get there
trainroomgary sux they changed the name to Lake state railway
Hi Icfruss / Thanks for the tips, I have video about The Lake State Railway, check it out: ruclips.net/video/jFdLS3h1s3Q/видео.html
The South Shore Line between Chicago, IL, and South Bend Indiana. There is a part in Michigan City, Indiana where the trains go street running along the tracks.
Freight trains can go up to 30 times a day right through the historic city centre of Dresden, Germany (560,000 inhabitants). They supply the Volkswagen car factory. It is called the CarGo Tram.
enjoyable film never seen anything like it
Farmers work is never done...Sensational creation...Much love✨& light🌟always♡ peace & joy 💫
Hello dear Jaw, thanks for the wonderful and excellent video 👍🌹dear friend. I wish you a beautiful day,
friendly greetings Jutta 🌞🌼😊🌻🌞
The driver, in that RAM truck ( left side of the screen ) had alot of patience 😇😇
i love street runners
Enjoy all of your video's. Keep up the good work.
small town USA. Gotta love it!😊
Reminds me of the song “City of New Orleans.”😂❤️👍🏻
Nice video! Never seen a train that long before!
A blast from the past!
GREAT CATCH! LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!🤓
2 engines and 208 cars. Give or take some as camera changed angles and might have missed some. Wow! Never ending. Where’s Is it going and coming from?
Fantadtic. Imagine that here in the UK!! Most motorists can't even cope with a 2 car Tram here lol.
Thanks for your videos. I like very much the rail road..
Glad you like them!
Can you imagine if someone who lived in Bible days could stand on that street corner and watch that go by what they would think?
Dear God! Can you imagine the insurance liability associated with this job. Some great photography, though. While waiting there were three engagements, two divorces, one guy bought a building, a woman gave birth to her second child, and a CSx executive peed in his coffee mug while waiting.
sounds like a train version of the movie "Airplane"!!
It's long to make more money, only have to pay for fuel for 2 engines and 2 crew men. Dangerous to have trains that long. Picture a hot box or some other problem on the 193rd car, let's see how long to walk the length, of that train, then decide what to do. How do you set out a car on a train that long. What's if's up the ying yang. It's cool to look at and it makes more money for the share holders. But it is just to long to run in a town.
rich sheehan helper needed then
Imagine being late to work and seeing this shit pop out of nowhere.
@ 14:03 there's a nice restored B&O caboose.
Wow really long train great catch
Bama girl Amy very very good :-))
Hey Jawtooth, nice video but an even nicer barn that you’re working on; how about a video on the barn? One of my favorite cable TV shows is Barnwood Builders with Mark Bowe. Looks like you have a nice post and beam barn there??
Amazing to see, heres a suggestion just for fun, create a time lapse that makes the train look like its doing 70mph in the street,
That's a lot of fracking cars. Excellent video Brian.
Have you ever thought about becoming an actor as a Sargent in a movie? You have the look! With a Army helmet and uniform, you'd make a GREAT Sarg!
Something else! Great video Jawtooth...a nice change from looking at NYC MTA R160s all day😎👍
it was a massive. 203 car. train. HOLY COW
What an amazing sight to see
big like 👍👍👍👍
I'm a conductor for UP and honestly people if i was assigned to a train like that, I'd be laying off for the next for days for being pissed. I'd feel for the conductor if that sucker lost air.
Amazing. I absolutely love trains. Always have. I wish I would have driven one,
Nice video!
Csx has been connecting 2 trains into 1 when they meet up in a certain location. Most are probably empty
I wonder if any person who lived in a town with steam or diesel railroad street trackage has ever played a prank on an out-of-town visitor to " Wait for the trolley " ( that will never come )?
Congratulations very very good
St. Marys. W.V. Wow, America. Thanks Tooth! B.P.
Awesome catch!
Halloooo Brian, wat a long train,202 wagons and the very nice red gaboose/remmers wagen. thanks from Tony and me,greetz:Peerke.greetings on the family.
I'll be sorry for those who are running late for work.
I liked the part in this video where we see the train.
me too
CSX and NS are consolating to run larger loads per train in a effort to cut cost
Nice, one of the best of your vids.
That train's moving mighty slow SHEESH
Only two GE locomotives? That shows how good GE is!
No it just shows how much you can pull with nearly 300,00 pounds of tractive effort. You could pull the same train with SD-70s or SD-90s.
206 cars was my count but could be wrong. so you were right - little over 2 miles.
"Why were you late to work?"
"I got stuck at the railroad crossing"
"Again?"
"Yeah but this time it was 2 miles long..."
"You ca- WAIT!?! 2 MILES LONG!?!"
Awesome but I bet it paralyzed the town for what 16min. yes Hunter will squeeze all the money he can out of CSX .
David Allen yea, I’m not a supporter. Tho sadly he died
Likely the railway was there first
The question is rhetorical, but who the hell builds businesses next to a railroad and then paves the road right up to the tracks so vehicles can patronize said businesses. I guess this West Virginia town does.
Yes, Harrison put the squeeze on and put a lot people out of work in the rail yards.
So many tank cars.
Doing my exercises while I watch this. Thought you should all know.
very good
line my friend
I need to go to St Marys, WV to experience this
All that hazardous material passing through the street like that, that would scare me. They do ship crude oil on the railroad through my town. What if one of those trains derails one day.
Most if not all of those tank cars were LPG tanks, not oil.
There was a time that Quaker State Oil had a Refinery not far from where Jaw Tooth is standing when he shot this video.
Hey Jaw tooth I think this train was so long you was sleeping while it's still recording
Hi Jaw Tooth. I hope you're doing well.
Always travel with a blanket and food in this town.
Luckily an emergency vehicle didn't need to go through.
