This should be titled "Swingin' in The Rain!" Simply awesome!
My favorite youtube comment ever haha
Patrick's solo was literally perfect
A masterclass in how to build solos
yeah, and how to play as one, how to pay attention to everything, how to build a mood together. They make music seem easy..
THAT WAS INSANE!!! Patrick is officially my favorite current saxophone player. Very inspiring for a young saxophonist such as myself.
After listening to jazz for more than 70 years it is SO encouraging to hear a group like this. Life goes on!! :))🥰
The bass solo was incredible!!!
Brilliant! To be honest, at this point we expect nothing less from these guys.
So true.
It is SICK! They're maybe the best ever ever, huh?
crazy to me how much the piano interacts with the solo, truly a masterclass
some of the best comping i’ve ever heard
I loved Patrick’s face when Emmet started playing out, and then smiled when he took it back in at 6:03.
i just don’t think we realize how much of a blessing it is to listen to those cats ^^
Yasushi Nakamura is superbe
totally. Solo was crazy
I love the sly humor and lightheartedness of this! So fun.
This is REAL JAZZ!!! Emmet you're an Amazing Artist and you have surrounded yourself with the Brightest and the Greatest. Thanks for keeping it REAL!!!!🎼🎶
Emmet went crazy on that piano solo!! All you guys killed it
Sounded like Erroll Garner!
agree... some of Emmet's hippest flow state, he's so good on these standards... the whole rhythm section absolutely destroyed that number and PB IS our Bird-man in NY
Is this the greatest hard bop quartet ever? Like EVER?!?!?!
Patrick is in the universe of the greatest jazz genius!
This is now my most viewed Emmet video. We need live versions of the song!
So underrated Jesus you have to listen to this at least 100 times to hear everything that happens
So much genius beneath the surface
partrick bartley is easily my favorite musician to be on this channel. He is the best
I've watched this a few times now and enjoyed the live stream last Monday. Emmet's solo is incredible!! Some might say he was in the zone but I'd say he went way beyond! Out of sight!
So swingin! Such a joy to listen to!
Wonderful. Thank you 🙏
Great to ear your stamp on every Song you play. Amanzingly your own. respect.
What a delighful little band and they played the verse as well as the chorus and do they swing man !
Just so good. You guys have made my week
Fantastic , absolutely fantastic.
Thank you! No other channel brings me such constant satisfaction. Kyle is still king! Patrick is one of my favorite guests as he fits well with the group.
Stunning!!
These awesome musicians brought jazz back to life
This channel makes me so happy. I just sit and smile as I watch and listen to some amazing musicians. A joyful noise indeed!
Thanks!
Génial 👍👏
I Love Patrick's solo.. such a beautiful arrangement ❤
A masterclass!
Honestly, there should be an extinguisher in this living room, it's fire every time ! Great job guys!
This is the best jazz on the planet!
Frickin FIRE
Sweet!
Man, this is so nice, Patrick has a touch of Benny Carter in this vid.
Kyle, your shirt says it all 🤟🏼
Yasushi went fricking insane that was such a funky solo
cohen on fire...
ich jz auch am brennen... sehr geil
I love how sweaty Yasushi Nakamura is. He's going all in.
Just wonderful as usual. Did you know that there is a French version of this number with the alternative title: "Wringing in the Seine".
❤️❤️❤️
Can’t wait to see you in may in Seattle, my first live jazz show!
This recording was how I was introduced to you
好きだーーーーー!!!!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yes sir! Bringing lots of joy and merriment to all! A total thrill ride.
Definitely swinging to Garland's take on 'Singing In The Rain'. Would be so good if you could cover her 'I'm Nobody's Baby'.
YUP YASUSHI
what a treat!!!
Benny Carter is smiling down on y'all!!!
killin as always guys!
最高!
Patrick Bartley is the new Earl Bostic ~~~
Great job gentleman! Thank you for sharing!
👍👍👍
😊 ✨
Excepcional versión,nice cover,thanks,gracias Emmet & Bros.
Patrick the next once in a generation alto player he’s about to be all up in the NYT giving talks at juliard and shit.
I like the way Emmet jiggles as if he were about to lay out a shit made out of a cupcake!
I like the way the stage looks like a start-up open space my ass, bullshit and so on!
So Jazzy!!!!!
👌
4:41 holy
making jazz great again
I feel like there hasn't been a legitimately great jazz act in a long time. Why? Cuz people lost the soul that was once put into jazz music that made it good. These jazzers thoroughly enjoy what they're doing. They enjoy it! And therefore they make us happy too. All the cocky jazzers of history, which there are many, produce cocky soulless music. These guys produce joyful and sometimes tear inducing jazz that is reintroducing much of the world to the genres potential.
@@connorbrien4086 There might be an age thing with jazz. When you're young, the whole world seems open to you, and a freshness results in your playing. 30 or 40 years later you might still play good, even better, learnt more advanced concepts, etc but something about that freshness is gone.
The BEST!❤️
🔥Diaphanous
I so dig hearin' AND watchin' today's cats playin' the old songs
👍
Love this! Thank you. Where is the verse from? I don’t recognise it from the original Gene Kelly Version. Love it though🙏
Its from the Judy Garland recording
this gives me oscar peterson trio & stan getz vibes!!
pats such a master!!!
I freaking love this group. Emmet, why not rotate your piano 90-degrees to the right so you can look at your guys without constantly twisting your neck? ;)
Swingin’ band and singin’ sax!
🥰🥰🥰
didn't even know it was possible to push the boundaries of this one beyond the standard slow swingy version😅👌
It's the 'Little Nellie Kelly' Judy Garland arrangement which includes the verse.
its not "pushing the boundaries" or any of that nonsense that makes this arrangement good.
PERFECT JAZZ.
What I would give to be in that room 😭

한국 비 많이 오는데...음악에서의 비는 현실과 달리 참 즐겁네...여기서라도 즐겁자...
3:37 note to self for transcribing purposes
Making great jazz fun
The intro, up to 1:25, and reprised at 2:00 after the head... Never heard it before. Is this their arrangement or another I've not heard? If you know... Thanks.
Man you are so right! I mean i listen threw the whole track and im like ‘yeah right, yeah hes right, yeah thats not wrong too, oh man hes so fucking right damn it!’
I was just interested to know, why lay the sheet music on the piano instead of on the grand's music stand
Great! Anybody know Patrick´s set up?
Meyer 6M stock MP and 2.5 Ligaphone alto reeds iirc
@@nicholasc.1024 Thanks. Do you know the horn?

CLOCKWORK ORANGE
Patrick sounding like Louis Jordan a little bit
i often find piano improv boring but the solo here is superb
Keep rain’n
Ben chez nous il ne pleut pas depuis trois mois
je prends le pari qu'il pleut la semaine prochaine

And that drummer looking for eye contact 🤣
Bobby lee plays upright?
The intro is surely a cowboy bebop reference
Look up the Judy Garland version. It’s not
@@jamestomberg5614 wow great find, its possible cbbp reference the gardland version in emily belingers adieu
Rare to hear an alto player whose main influence is Johnny Hodges
Damn bro leave some women for the rest of us 😂
not bad, honestly expecting you to entirely butcher the song.
ahaha what?
