*Forgot to mention, If you made your hair using curves you'll need to select them all, Right Click > Convert > mesh then Ctrl+J to join them together.*
thanks!!!
Great, straight to the point. +1 sub.
Thank you very much. I was confused for a long time until I saw the comments.
Hm tryed it for some hanging cloth stuff.... but it ignores the collision and move into the mesh...
OMG THANK YOU !!
YES , I'M INTERESTED IN MORE PROFESSIONAL WAY OF ANIMATING HAIR
I'd like to know what is the more professional method of animating hair. I've been looking for that for a long time. And this is also a good method. I'll give it a try.
This works for everything, just what I was looking for, excellent tutorial, short - to the point, zero time wasted, and correct!
Thanks :) glad u liked it.
Again another tutorial that works but partially... I did exactly what was in the video and yet the lattice aint moving with parented bones troughout the animation... all it does is that at the start of the animation it snaps to one place and stays there, not moving at all...
Maybe a key frame issue
Worked like a charm for my game character!!! Thank you very much!!
I saw other trick from other vid(Royal skies) , he used add on named wiggly bone or spring bone. Basically he use bone in every hair meshes and the add on will generate the action for the hair.....
Man....I never imagined this so creative way of animating hair, congrats
Thanks :)
Most underrated channel
thanks bro
I'm interested in seeing more professional ways of animating hair.
Yeah, add bones and do it manually, like pros do in Pixar xD
This is a really good solution!
Two alternatives I can think of are:
1. using cloth physics on the hair with a vertex group as pin for the part that shouldn't move
2. wiggle bones, but a bit of a pain bcs you'd need a rig for the hair
Yes. It works!. Thanks man...
I used First method- cloth physics
In my case - the lattice method shows weird things.
Fix parent issue
1- Select lattice first then armature
2- go to pose mode select head bone
3- press ctrl +p parent to bone
Congratulations you done
You are a GOD!
For some reason no matter what I do the lattice still moves on its own and just drop straight down
would it work in unity? for example if i want to put it in a game, could it still be animated or is it only for blender?
So, in My case there are two problems, when I enable collision my pc suffers a lot of stuttering and this made me impossibile to see how is gonna work the movement and I cannot configure stiffness and other stuff to make more realistic the air movement. The other problem is that the collisions seems to be not working with really long hair even if I increase all the possibile value. I’ve got a decent pc so the problem isn’t my hardware. But I don’t know how to fix these problems
Dont know if you still have this issue but for checking how it looks if your viewport is laggy, you can do a quick viewport render. I think in object mode its under View -> Viewport Render Animation, which just renders exactly what you have in the viewport so i would say do it in solidmode and turn off "Show Overlays"
Will this method work for a video game, or does the physics and soft body modifiers only work in blender?
I have a problem... when I apply the collision modifier on the face object, it barely freezes blender when I play the animation... Also, the hair doesnt collide with the face, it continues getting inside of the face
Nice results. Do you have any experience with game engines? Do you think there's any way to keyframe or bake this out somehow to have it applied to a rig when exporting to something like Unreal?
Did anyone ever find a way to get head/hair collision working with this method? I’ve searched the whole internet and haven’t found a solution..
but the hair dont have a physics modifier. will they be recognized for collision on the mesh?
Come on, only 3.85k? You deserve way more subsrcibers!
Thanks bro :)
would it work for unity?
NICEEE you're so gooood!😭
Thanks :)
can you help i am totally new here...no active bone found error when i clt+p press
This is fantastic. I've made several characters' hair this way and hadn't been able to figure out how I wanted to animate it. This solves lots of problems for me. Thanks!
Thanks javen, glad it was helpful :)
dahanet servive can i make it move :))))
Tutorial is amazing but i m facing a problem - after applying collision to face also , hairs are going through face.
Can anybody help!!
But can you export it for Game Engines???
Can it be imported to Unreal Engine 5? Thank You
The hair moves even if the character is standing still, help pleasee
that comment at the begininng of the video is on anoter level of sus
My soft body attached to the Lattice has a maximum of 0.05kg and starts out with like 0.0000001kg, I'm struggling to get this to work...
I'm trying to figure out a way to animate beautiful stylized hair like you have in your thumbnail and in your video like it's blowing in the wind like a really strong wind is there a way to do that with this method by the way your girls extremely hot and your thumbnail is just amazing
Yeah, this is a great tutorial & all BUT
blender crashes every time I apply the soft body.
its a small project, really not a complicated mesh,
oh, and collision has no dice for me either.
does this export well into stuff like unity or marmoset?
here's a comment for the algorithim, didn't even think about a method like this :D
thanks :D
i've parented the hair, but my rig does not say armature. where exactly do i parent it to? my hair keeps bouncing and does not follow the rig at all.
Hi, this would be affected by wind or other force fields?
When im going to wight paint the hair looks blue i can't add my weight why ?
Thank you for making my life easier
its a great info thank u, but what i need to do if i need a wind on it?
Thank you! Definitely gonna use this method after I'm done with my human's body!
please make more hair animation tutorials!
how about facial animation like at boss baby
Would this transfer to other game engines like Unreal?
nice tutorial man. if i have an alembic animation, how can I parent hair to my model?
the bottom of the hair moves along with the lettice (as weight painted ofcourse) but the top of the hair doesn't stay connected to the head, how do i fix this?
I will try this.
Since blender last update ,i cant use spring bone or wiggle bc of the phyton traceback error
Make more or else 🔫 (Love u mang, learning new things every upload from you)
i surrender :D
When clicking on the Lattice then the Armature, it doesn't bring up the Parent Bone option. However, clicking on the Armature and then the Lattice, it brings up the Parent Bone option. But then, it says No Bone Active. EDIT: Got it to work; I had to animate the armature! Good job, OP!
my armature is already animated by mixamo, and it says "no bones active" how did you do it?
@@alesdanz Any luck?
Does this method end up with a hair model that works in Unity?
2:30 lmao
Every-time I try to parent the lattice to the bone it says No active bone.. Please help?!
0:35 said to go to object data it's actually the vertex properties.
no active bone found problem.
how do i fix it?
I'd like to know what is the more professional method of animating hair. I've been looking for that for a long time. And this is also a good method. I'll give it a try.
My lattice is not reacting to the soft body I guess. Hair is also not budging at all. I am not a beginner and followed exactly. Very interesting.Seems to work for everybody else. Hate it when that happens.
same here - did you solve it? are you on MacOS or Windows (Mac here)?
@@matt_nomatter I dont think I did. I thik I tried another method
You can try bake the soft body animation in the cache tab. This worked for me
Wait this is so useful to me. New sub :)
This is not work if you up chracter in unreal engine
Thank you so much for this! Works perfect for the stylised look I am going for with my project. It works really well on clothing elements like belts and strap ends that stick out too
Bro I actually appeared in the video :0
thank you so much I'm doing an anime and your video helps me a lot to do a wind animation.
Great tutorial!!! Thanks!!! New subscriber here!
and just pay more attension. I envy you mate.
Is there a way to use this for like a breeze blowing to hair?
What about making the hair blow in the wind?
Please make a Head Sculpt Tutorial I will be wait for it
perfect video thank you for making it
This is amazing thank you so much! I'm having just one issue, after rigging the hair with the add on and seeing that it worked, I decided that I wanted to edit the weight painting of the hair, but now I can't weight paint the hair, it doesn't allow me to add nor subtract weight, do you know where I could have gone wrong?
Fantastic! I'll try this method as it seems to be the biggest timesaver
i like making hair below tummy ye
yes id like to see the more proffesional way please
very clear and easy, thank you for making the notes, and give panels who explain. Genial!!
im interested in seeing the more professional method!!
This is really cool way to do it.You are the second person i see, doing it. I will give it a try for next work!
Wait, the warmer the color in weight painting, the more movement? I always thought it was you want the red to be where you don't want any movement...this could explain so much with my issues with weight painting...thanks for this tutorial.
your welcome, the weight color doesn't mean anything by itself, it knows what to do when you choose it as vertex group in different areas, in this case when you use it in lattice, the warmer parts will do what lattice tell them to do but it might be the exact opposite in cloth simulation for example :)
Fantastic! Advanced but explained in a very clear and simple way
Thanks bro
The best hair physics tutorial ever!
Thank you for making my life easier
I want the profissional way
Thanks so much for showing this workflow, going to try this method out with my character
Which physics settings affect the hair in front? Since the weight paint includes it in both lattices
OMG, you saved my day
Definitely using this in my next animation :-)
This is so clear, perfect, and very helpful to me. Thanks!
great!thankyou
Awesome, please do more videos on animating hair
👍👍👍
absolute mvp
Thanks!
Brilliant tutorial, thank you!
you r the best dude
You find a really interesting way to animate hair, thank you for sharing it !
GOD
Excellent tutorial!! Straight and to the point. What a nice clean way to animate hair. Thank you.
Thanks for this video. I have struggled trying to do hair physics in blender and this has been the simplest way I have seen to do it so far.
How is it that it didn't work for me ?!!
thx!
Can i use this same method to animate clothes. As in, my character has a long jacket, like dante from dmc. Can I do this to the part where the jacket need to flail?
yes you can use it on any mesh.
@@PixelicaCG thanks. I'll try it 😊
