    I feel that the proudest thing one can do as a vocalist is shock Sam Johnson. I feel like most people, even other vocal coaches, watching singers are like "Wow!" on so many parts. Meanwhile Sam is like "Ok cool, so this is what he's doing...". Dude has definitely seen A LOT of singing in his time.

      Exactly my thoughts & why I rate Sam above other vocal coaches/teachers.
      Too many of them OVER REACT & say silly comments which in my opinion dilutes their credibility.

    The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash revitalized the song. In addition, the final part he added, with an oriental Arab technique (or traditional cazaq singing, called Joqtaw), is a funeral lament, paying homage to the dead vocalist: Brilliant! The song was originally performed in 1998 and the band's name is A'Studio. The dead singer left the band in 2000 and passed away in 2015 and his name was Batyrkhan Shukenov. The lyrics are by the poet Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebyev, who is the keyboardist with long hair, which we see in the video accompanying Dimash.

    the style that you like is from central Asia. Harmonic chant or difonic chant, Consists of a sound reverberation (generated between the pharynx and the mouth) that produces two or more simultaneous sounds with a slight variation (around a harmonic). In some cases, this variation can be modulated independently. Who do it until today are the Mongols and if it is too hard to do, I really love your analysis and seriousness. Thank you!

    "He doesn't carry the dark notes over A, because it is hard"
    Dude, you misunderstood the whole thing. I am a baritone and I can "carry the dark notes over A" and Dimash is not even human, believe me, he CAN too. But he has this thing about changing register all the time, he didn't do it because he couldn't, he did because he wanted to. He does that all the freaking time...

    • @Liam-mv9zi
      @Liam-mv9zi 4 года назад +8

      He does that all the time at basically the same place. That's because it's around his bridge, and so he doesn't bother working harder than he should so he goes a different route. Sam's right.

    2. Sam, I agree with everything you are saying about chest v. head/falsetto when applied to us normal humans. But Dimash is not of this world, you see? You even pointed it out in his SOS video when he managed to glissando up an octave and pull back on his volume, which is the diametric opposite tendency of the human voice. Dimash can do things that the rest of us cannot LOL.

    Нашим кто не очень понял реакцию: В общем он разбирал его голос и технику пения, элементарно где он дышит а где нет, рассказал о том что скачет с одного "стиля" на другой, что в этом он хорош. Ему конечно нравится то что Димаш может контролировать свой голос и использует выигрышные моменты в пении, и многое другое. Я бы сказала это информация для вокалистов а не для фанатов. Это конечно все не дословно, но я так поняла. Я думаю ему как профессионалу интересно разбирать такое пение другим людям из еге сферы. Для вокалиста или учителя вокала полезная информация. А еще где то в начале он сказал что синезатор Байгали Серкебаева зачетный ))))))))
