- Well guys I have been putting it off for long enough, I wanted to show you guys how to do a valve adjustment on a 6.7 Cummins and go over a few things surrounding the situation like the valve lash settings and some different ways to turn the engine over. I hope you enjoy the video and don't forget to subscribe to the channel for more upcoming content.

The only video that started where one should. Removal of the covers first. All the others start with the valves exposed already. THANKS>
Thank you!! I like to show beginning to end when I can.
Makes sense to do 20k rather than 26k in your application. Never knew a lot of this. Fantastic upload man!
Thank you boss, im trying my best to bring at least a little knowledge to these videos rather then a bunch of senseless bullshit
i needed this thank you
Very informative detailed video. Commenting for support.
Keep 'em coming brother...
Thank you!!
Great information brown thanks!
Great job on This video. Much better that’s the other guys.
Thank you!! I appreciate that and I'm glad I could help.
Excellent video bro, did not know 6.7 stock was .026 on exh side. I've always heard 10 and 20. Keep it up boss 👏
Thanks man, yea alot if people get pissed about it because "ThAtS nOt ThE fAcToRy SpEc" but its happier at .020 so thats where she stays 😂
.026 on the exhaust because of all the emissions stuff
Learned a lot thank you.
I’m glad I watched this I had a diagram for my 2007 6.7l Cummins it shows .006 intake and .015 exhaust I havint done my adjustment yet I had the head shaved cuz she blew head gasket but Iv got gasket in head shaved and in now with arp 2000 head studs is 10 and 20 good on all year model 6.7l Cummins ? It’s my first Deisel truck rebuild
Yup 10 and 20 is good for all years of 6.7 IF the emissions equipment fell off, if the emissions are still intact I would go 14 and 20
Little trick I’ve always done is tighten down on the size above you want and you will have it perfect everytime
im going to have to try that next time im setting the valves, Thank you for that
I love the sound of these 6.7s.
Me too man they just have a tone to them that can't be beat
@@Cargill450 especially when they're running a 5" straight pipe. 🤤
@@Cargill450 by the way, fantastic video, ive been waiting for a good informative video on valve adjusting, i need to do mine soon
thats just a 4 inch but don't you worry the 5 inch is in the plans.
@@Cargill450 I'm running 5" turbo back straight pipe on my 08
After you did the 1st round of adjustment with top dead center up. What is the next position of balancer for the other? Also couldnt you run the valves with the eoic method "exhaust opening intake closing" when the exhaust first cracks set intake when the intake is all the open and begins to close set the exhasut. This is method used on any pushrod engine that requires valve lash.
After the first round you just go 360 on the crank, one revolution and you can get all the others, im not sure honestly about the other method because I haven't tried it on these engines but it would be worth messing with maybe
Been looking high and low for interior led lights that don’t rapid blink. Where did you get yours and what are they?
I'm sorry it took me so long to get back, I like to buy my lights from www.superbrightleds.com I have always had really good luck with them
Are you going to Color match the back bumper and are you going to get different tail lights to match the front and are you going to take those lights off of the tail gate so basically are you going to refresh the back of the truck
Absolutely im just waiting for the right time, its needs a new tailgate and bumper and well everything in the back is going to get a refresh. It needs it badly
is there a torque value for the rockers when you finish adjusting them? or do you just go nice and snug? thanks
Technically yes the torque for the lock nut is 18 foot pounds, you can get a feel for that torque by hand but how ever you do it you have to check the lash after you torque your nut because it will change
Is excessive white smoke and crank with no start a symptom of rocker arms not being installed correctly?
Injector(s)
You’re has that same little metal ting like mine does so I’m definitely not as worried now about mine
My 2008 6.7 does it too. 208k on the ol gal. Glad I'm not the only one 😂
Great video. Thanks. I just tipped 270K on mine, and have been meaning to do the valve lash for a bit. Anything else you can recommend while in and about?
Mainly just the lash, these engines hold up really really well.
@@Cargill450 thanks again. I use a lot of BG products, and have the BG flushes done when I can afford them. 270K is a lot of miles, and very few of them have been easy miles.
Watching your seat cushion video right now. It's been near the top of the list for a little while too.
The BG flushes are awesome, the seat cushion was honestly one of my favorites so far. It made the truck enjoyable to drive again
Which service manual do you prefer for your Ram? I need to pick one up.
I would go with the Haynes manual, the Chilton is pretty good too I have just always preferred the Haynes.
What did you rotate for the other half of valve adjustment
You want to rotate the crankshaft 1 full rotation.
So I took the exhaust side push rod out to clean it cuz some debris got on it well when I went back to put it back on it sits higher than the rest if I tight the Allen bolt it wants to bend what can I do to fix it?
What kind of debris? The couple things that come to mind right off the bat is something got into the tapit not allowing the push rod to set back in or you might not be in the tapit at all. You might take it back apart and take a really good look down into the hole to see what's going on.
@@Cargill450 just some dirt that fell next to it so took it out clean down there and cleaned the push rod before inserting it back in. Its not flushed like the other ones but nothing got inside tho
Just be careful with it, might make sure before you try to set that pushrod that that cylinder is on the compression stroke before you adjust it at all, just be mindful and if something doesn't feel right double check it.
What turbo do you have on the truck?
The turbo setup is the old BD super bee R650. It's a factory replacement 3rd gen swap with a BD manifold and a billet 367, its a decent little kit but it was before they started selling that kit with a 366 sxe charger.
What all is done to your truck, it sounds way better than mine
It’s not a whole lot, it has a s367 turbo with a BD manifold, 10mm cp3 and a few other odds and ends exhaust is 4 inch straight also
What kind of turbo you running
its a BD s367 3rd gen kit, it was before they went to the sxe366 with these kits
How do you know if you have to make a valve adjustment
Its good to atleast check them every 150k
@@Cargill450 thanks so much for the info great video
Is red Cummins 6.7 on the box truck the same as pickup truck black engine?
If I'm understanding the question correctly yes it is, your still going to want to go .010 on the intake and .026 on the exhaust if the emissions are intact and .020 if they are not.
@@Cargill450 thanks. Where did you buy the measurement tool?
I bought them at napa, I really like the angled ones
@@Cargill450 thanks man, I'm about to dig into engines, never opened before, tired of waiting time in garages and all the charges 😅. Appreciate the video.
Absolutely!! I hope it helps
How many miles did it have when u did the adjustment
Somewhere between 270k and 280k
You should be adjusting valves on a cold engine
Awesome video non the less
ALWAYS cold for sure
What about the 2nd half?
Do you mean the second set of rockers?
@@Cargill450 yes. When you say turn it over, just one more full revolution to TDC and you can fo the remaining rockers?
Yes sir
