“The game is fun
If it’s not, why bother “
Period.
"but it's not realistic"
"ok tell me why that is supposed to be interesting [...] i play games to have fun"
Makes me think about Xbox.
Damn I miss Reggie
Nintendo's been continuing to adhere to the "lateral thinking" design philosophy that Gunpei Yokoi applied to the GameBoy and it's still working out well for them over 35 years later. It shouldn't matter if your hardware isn't the best as long as the battery life is acceptable, the platform is affordable, and the software is of good quality.
In the 90’s I remember advertisements for Game Gear and Lynx focusing on how much better the graphics were than Game Boy. Nintendo didn’t care and 30+ years later they’re still dominating with the least powerful hardware.
Not to mention their retro consoles and games also age gracefully. SNES and Gamecube games still hold up today
Maybe, but at some point, the games start looking dated and on screen enemies number around 6, 7 tops depending the level and available overheard.
All in all, modern games aren't about being flashy, but what you can do to engage the user via particle effects and many enemies.
We didn't get that with the latest metroid, just bare bones gameplay at its max.
@@acardenasjr1340 aside from games that are specifically built with huge numbers of enemies like the Warriors games or zombie games, 6-7 enemies seems pretty standard for modern games on any consoles. More enemies is not always equal to a better game. For most games, there comes a point when the huge number of enemies just become background noise instead of engaging you. Besides, how many enemies do you expect to face at the same time in a Metroid game? Do you expect it to be like COD zombies?
I’ve been holding out on buying a switch for years hoping for an upgrade. Sorry but I’m not buying tech that’s only somewhat more powerful than a PS3/360 in 2024.
One of the reasons why Switch has lasted so long is that we are in an era of gaming when indie games and a bit more graphically intense games are no longer really trouble for even mobile hardware. Great graphics aren't anymore about textures and polygons but post-processing effects. To port more intense games to Switch you don't need as much work as for example porting a PS4 game to Nintendo 3DS.
Yeah, geometry is somewhat trivial with modern mobile hardware, it's the textures and shaders that are harder to push
Modern mobiles have much better cpus, and they dont last as long as a switch even with bigger batteries playing those games maxed out.
What they did with very old underclocked cpu is amazing.
Switch devs still have to work pretty hard to get more complicated games to run on it
@@kendokaaa His comment does not detract from the work of the devs, what he is trying to say is that the difficulty gap has been narrowed quite a bit, it is not like in the PSP generation, when many devs preferred not to port PS3/360 games to the portable or publish completely different versions of the original games due to enormous hardware differences.
I am loving my OLED Switch. I don't know about anyone else but this economy has beat me up left, right and center. I am a father, and a husband and buying games is not the only thing I have to spend my money on. I appreciate the fact that with Nintendo I do not have to buy a new console every other year just to play their latest and greatest. Not only does Nintendo just focus on making fun games, when first party Nintendo games go on sale it is a big deal. The games are just polished experiences. On top of that Nintendo has been having some incredible e-shop sales with their 3rd party developers.
I have no shortage of games to play on the Switch for the foreseeable future and the system is just a hit with my family. I have felt no need to buy an Xbox Series S or X or a PS4 or PS5 or even buy a new PC. The "new" ray tracing, 4K games on those systems just do no appeal to me. To me, this current generation of consoles is a wash and it is not because the hardware is not incredible but the games are not fun or I feel they are catering to a different audience. It like cars. What is the use of paying more money for a 400+ HP car if you can't use that power on the street and have no time to logistically use it on a track. That extra HP just becomes a waste of money. Between the Switch, my Steam Deck, my Analogue Pocket and my retro game systems I am set with gaming. Actually I am more excited for new Sega Genesis releases than anything on the PS5 or Xbox Series system. There is also the fact I have to work for a living so I cannot spend all my waking hours playing games but when I do have time, I have a great time.
Nintendo just gets it this gaming generation and I do not mind spending my money to buy their games if it means it will continue to support the incredible talent at Nintendo.
Very well said. For me, I'm more blunt: 'Triple A' games are like polishing a 💩 The flashy graphics don't hide the soulless experience in these games. Going forward is Nintendo and retro for this guy.
@@JuiKuen Agreed!
> I appreciate the fact that with Nintendo *I do not have to buy a new console every other year* just to play their latest and greatest.
^^^^ No gaming company does this. You might be confusing consoles with the smartphone market...
Nintendo not having to divide their studios between Home console and Portable also is helping a lot, even more now that those studios that used to do portable games are getting used to home console development.
Yeah, Sony went the wrong way. They divided development between PS and PSVR, and you can see where that's gotten them.
Game Freak is taking forever to get used to home console smh
@@DzumeisterWell Gamefreak is only part of the equation TPC is also a major part on why Pokemon Games s*cks...
Gamefeak has forced their team to make new Pokemon games yearly. The transition to 3D destroyed their production flow and they still haven't come up with a more efficient solution. Personally I would adopt the COD method of multiple internal studios working on separate games at the same time, sharing assets and resources to save time where possible.
@@G360LIVE
That's a very different scenario though.
Home console and portable console games can often be the same thing.
Whereas there are lots of VR games that wouldn't work in a non VR format,
Or the other way around with non VR games working in VR
(Not talking about playing Non VR games in VR via virtual screen mode)
To have a game that works with and without VR you would kind of have to make 2 games in one to a certain degree.
(Unless it's a game with a cockpit,
Like a racing game.
Those are usually way more straightforward to have both a VR and non VR mode)
Fun games = BANK
Crazy how simple yet effective their strategy is
Satoru Iwata famously said that as consoles become more complex, development time and cost for games would continue to go up and he was completely right. It feels like the 9th generation has barely started and there's hardly any actual exclusives available on PS5 or XBX. Meanwhile, the famously "underpowered" Switch has had a steady stream of games with what feels like a new first-party game every month.
I will say their simple strategy of showing GAMEPLAY of newly announced titles instead of a cg trailer makes a big difference.
It's always about the games. Good games make a system good, not the other way around
Switch and Deck have been some of the best pieces of hardware for the gaming sphere imo.
It is causing developers to optimize and think out of the box.
If things like Metroid Prime or Luigis Mansion 3 can be done on switch it will be incredible to see what they can do with 1050ti/deck/ps4/switch 2 type hardware
The Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch make great companion devices. The best of Nintendo exclusives paired with the graphics and third party support of Steam.
@@skycloud4802 Switch, Steam Deck and an AYN Odin/Odin 2 and you have perfect platforms for just about every form of gaming you could want
@@skycloud4802if you have one pc handheld you dont need to buy another one . and if you can afford 2 at the same time go with premium like rog ally X or legion go
I constantly think about Kaze Emanuar's work on N64 rom hacking, and I realize just how much processing power is wasted in most systems. That dude has made native N64 hardware run and look almost like a 6th gen console just by optimizing the hell out of the rendering pipeline. The rapid march of progress means we abandon and move on, before we exhaust the potential of current technology. The Switch is just a really good example of the potential of old hardware in an era of new & shiny things.
@@devonmarr9872 I hope the deck keeps that bar set too. I so bad want developers to stop thinking fidelity will save a trash game
The Switch first seemed like a continuation of the WiiU- which I liked but the Crowed didn’t. I was wrong; the concept changed my life and I even have changed my PC to mobile with the legion Go and the PS Portal. The switch 2 will be a must if it plays original switch games.
I love my Wii U. I don't know why your comment just reminded me of Miiverse but those were the days
@@pastqr and beautiful days they where ;), I have very nice memories of Wii, fit perfectly to my single time and dates with all the sport and bouncing. The WiiU was the console in the relationship and we had fun with MiiVerse and WiifitU, even our dog hat a counter. But, it wasn’t enough to be a success and I hope Nintendo knows what they are doing with the switch 2
A Nintendo customer expects a game that is fun, aesthetically pleasant (including performance), responsive, practically bug-free and either long lasting or very replayable. Tbh that doesn't sound like your average PS/XBOX AAA launch
Plus, their employee retention is so good that you know the money you spend on Nintendo is used well. As opposed to Xbox's and Sony's studios that throw people away to the street.
Comment of the year
After buying the Mobapad M6 HD joycons for my OLED Switch I cannot play in any other way but handheld. These things turn the Switch into such a luxurious device, it feels like a completely new console. Having the Switch and a gaming laptop is ALL I need.
After being introduced to the concept of the Switch and playng it for the last 7 years; I cannot go back to any other way of playing. Yeah it's the weakest harware this gen; but if the next one can perform like a PS4 Pro; I will be very happy for another 7 or more years. I love that I feel like I OWN what games I buy on the Switch. Yes; even the digital games (which one can argue about the ownership of those); the fact that I can play all my games COMPLETELY OFFLINE and if I were to go into airplane mode for the next 10 years; I know that if I don't earse my SD card; I will still be able to play those games. The very concept of the Switch, completely rides on your ablity to take your games and play them ANYWHERE without any limitations.
the offline thing is the only issue i have "with" my steam deck, although it's not even with the deck/valve it's more devs making you log in to play single player (mainly all the Rockstar games). Was really looking forward to messing around in Red Dead 2 on flights from Hawaii/Vegas only to find I can't because you need internet to play offline, so I just got wrecked in Elden Ring instead
I recently had an issue for like an hour where my series x couldn’t connect to the internet and it wouldn’t allow me to launch any of my games as a result. It’s stuff like that which scares me for the potential future of digital ownership on Xbox
@@sneakingelephant Microsoft specifically wants to go all cloud streaming and subscription based; because for them that is the best way to combat piracy. They don't want to give anyone the chance to own anything; because they think we are all potential pirates and if everything is streaming from a server; the only way to access the game is to commit the bigger crime of hacking their servers. Look up the Angry Joe and Major Nelson interview here on youtube; where they litterly say that cloud gaming is their ultimate goal. It was before the launc of the Xbox One; where they initially were going to have it be an ALL DRM console, where you had to log in and check in online; before playing ANY GAME OFFLINE at any time. They later removed this requirment; because they had huge backlash and cancelled pre-orders of the system; but they still didn't give up their goal. Everything you seeing that is happening now; is them getting closer to that goal. They don't care about selling games or consoles, for this reason and Sony aint to far behind. Nintendo may have their issues; but at least the commited to tradition selling of games and giving us some snese of ownership. I rather they be draconian in the way the go after roms and hacking methods; than for them to be like Microsoft but if people keep pushing; it might happen.
Eh pc is the only way in my opinion.
That's interesting. I can't get FF (1-6), Diablo 3, or the virtual NES and SNES to work offline.
"chasing the dragon" of graphical fidelity leaves you empty and forever wanting more.
Some people spend 10x the cost of a switch on a PC and enjoy it half as much 🤷♂️
Facts.
Say it louder 🗣
I mean,
1. Nintendo doesn't sell their console at loss like ps and Xbox...
2. The development cost of Nintendo exclusive are 40% to 60% less but they still sell at full $60 😂
3. Their exclusive easily sell 5million and 15million plus if it's animal crossing, mario or zelda etc..
4. They make profit from hardware, software and 3rd party tax....
Ps3 got uncharted 1,2,3 and last of us from one studio..
Xbox 360 got gears 1,2,3, judgement for one studio..
Ps4 and Xbox one got uncharted 4/last of us 2 and gears 4 and 5 from same studio... (coalition was formed by ex epic developers who worked on original gears, many doesn't know about this but main developers stayed back)
I play on PC and Switch.
I am a hobbyist game dev and do plenty of performance intensive tasks, so I have a fairly beefy PC. I also play plenty of games that don't play as well on a controller.
But I also like the simplicity of the Switch. Boots quickly and the menu is not filled with unnecessary clutter. It is portable which makes it the perfect party game machine.
Precisely. Every single one of these RUclipsrs complaining about how awful this generation of games have been have one thing in common. None of them play on Switch. They either game on PC, PS5, or X Box Series.
@@davidaitken8503 Nah, they just like to whine while not bothering to look at indie games. Plenty of good games across all platforms, you just gotta find them.
Quality & love in games > Graphics
Portability, good design, fun games. They nailed all of that with the Switch.
Switch's favourite song: Johnny Logan - What's another year 😅
No we dont need Naughty dog games to be crazy in terms of fidelity. Is it nice. OF COURSE but I MUCH RATHER them make more games. I’m honestly getting tired of this fidelity chase. Make interesting games cut the cost but stopping the fidelity race. Stop firing so many people
So you rather have Quantity over Quality

@@MLPRainbowFantasy I’m sure if you only read part or understood part of my comment you could come to that conclusion. But no, gotta read the whole comment. Here are the things I want.
- cut cost. Stop firing people Because the game you spent all your money on failed (directed at the industry as a whole). If that alone means I get a dip in graphics I’m all for it.
- it takes way to long to make games today. Part of the reason is because of this fidelity chase. Again if stopping this means graphics dip 10000 percent ok with it.

i get what you're saying, i also getting tired of the "fidelity chase" and barely play games on my pc for idk maybe almost a year even tho i own a lot of games in my Steam library and still actively buying whenever there's sale. 3 months ago i decide to get myself a Switch OLED and heck! i've been playing games on it almost every single day after i got off work!
I’m with Alex on Naughty Dog not needing all those pretty cutscenes. Their pure gameplay-focused modes (like Uncharted / TLOU MP) are incredible & deserve more credit.
So just lower the quality ?
I agree. TLOU and Uncharted 2 were some of my fav games. I played TLOU MP like crazy on PS3 and 4. I've kinda lost interest in ND now because their focus is too much on stuff that matters less to me. ND was synonymous with quality and fun for me but not anymore. It's just a movie now that most of the enjoyment depends on if you like the story.
Uncharted 4 is my favourite game of all time but the gameplay was never incredible it was just good to very good I wouldn't call it incredible.
I think as technology progresses, there is a gold middle that is evolving. Staying in that middle is good for sales, but the media usually focuses on tech that is not in the middle and so becomes too expensive for the general public. Like people drive boring good cars, the media rather talks about luxury cars.
I like that Nintendo pretty much does its own thing and its why the Switch has been a success. Yeah, its the weakest hardware but the fact the Switch is simple to use, you dont need to be connected online 24/7 and the fact you can take it with you has made it convenient for many casual people who just want to play games with out much fuss. I think thats where most of their sales come from. So if the Switch 2 or whatever it will be called can retain that simplicity, portability but been have more power, it will be another success.
The Switch is THE way to play for this hardcore gamer. More time playing and less time fiddling with settings, not needing to always be online, portability in an instant, etc. Unless their is something majorly wrong with the Switch port of a game (which lower framerates and resolution are not most of the time) I buy the Switch version over the PC every time.
Strongest handheld when it released.
That question was gold 😂
Imagine if Nintendo's statement about revealing the Switch in this fiscal year just meant they show the console in March 2025 and still don't launch the damn thing all the way until holiday 2025 or even spring 2026💀
This is precisely what I expect to happen after hearing the statement from Nintendo (I don’t even expect them to show the new system this fiscal year).
Wouldn’t surprise me at all and I have no problem with that 🤷♂️
I still have a huge backlog of games to play on my Switch so Nintendo can take their sweet time 👍
Unlike the Wii U the Switch is still a strong seller, Nintendo has no incentive to rush out their next system this fiscal year. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it got announced for a holiday 2025 release.
@@MaI2Me They *DID* say they’d “announce” it before the end of the fiscal year. That reads very similarly to how they said they’d “announce” the Switch (NX) in 2016, which they did.

Exactly. Nintendo switch > Steam dick
The games not going on sale is the reason why I buy their games day 1 instead of waiting for a sale. I can then resell the game and maybe lose 10-20 dollars max. Their games retain value
Yeah literally the only publisher I feel safe with when buying games on release. Someone like Ubisoft can drop from 70 to 4 USD in less than 9 months, Bethesda goes on 33% sale after 2 months. Like what's the point in buying on release
The games not going on sale is the reason why I never buy their games
This is the same for me. Since I was a kid I've always been a hardcore "wait for sale" person. Every PS5 game except RE4 I've waited until they are at least half off. Nintendo games are the only exception. I know if I'm buying a Nintendo game it will be of quality and decent performance, and more importantly they keep their value.
However, I still avoid pre-orders. I won't buy a game until at least the reviews are out
@@cypher5009 You've missed some great games!

Like milk tbh. But what’s more important is the games and Nintendo’s delivering on that. But the system itself is not as good
As a ps5 user, the switch's weaker hardware forces gameplay (the most important part) and art direction as the focus rather than graphic fidelity. Some of the best games like Armored Core 6 and Elden Ring DLC have comparatively lo-fi GFX but amazing gameplay/AD.
I think From Software is one of the few companies outside of Nintendo and its' studios and partners that "gets it". Everyone else just keeps delivering worse and worse products to achieve the most technically ambitious graphics.
Agree. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a perfect example of having limited polygons but still looks gorgeous because of the art direction.
Nintendo went down the aesthetic root rather than chasing brute graphical force. It's the right way
Art style always should take priority over graphics.
Both are right
It’s not ‘the right way’
It’s just another way.
Sony dominates both

Anything over that is most likely bloat. Curious to see what GTAVI's file size will be at launch.

The only Nintendo games that set up expectations on the technical side are 3D Mario and Zelda, but even those rely on art direction. Maybe Metroid Prime 4 will set the expectations higher if it sells well.
Just got a TotK OLED as my forever collection Switch, from my launch model.
As an adult with limited time who took 9 months to put 200 hours into TotK, I like many won’t move to any next gen console for years since there are still a dozen+ great games (plus retro online) that’ll give me years of enjoyment.
Didn’t they upload this clip before?

Really great discussion, guys
One of the reasons i have always been a fan of Nintendo since the n64 is they just make great games regardless of the hardware.
Great video, guys. The fact that Nintendo is so successful with the Switch has to do with many factors. One of them is what former NOA COO said before the launch: “We’ve learned from our mistakes” (Reggie Fils-Aimé). Other reasons are the great marketing, the hybrid concept, the consistent output of Nintendo games (in-house, 2nd party), the price of the hardware, the fact they have made commercials with celebrities (remember DS? Exactly!), and also the president of Nintendo world wide. After the passing of Iwata, Kimishima took over for a short term and finally Furukawa was the one who has to lead Nintendo at the start of the Switch into the future. He already told investors to maximize sales and profits and also expanding their business operations with Nintendo IP. And look what happened. In the past 7 years of Switch being on the market, Nintendo made more profit than all other previous console generations (including handhelds) combined! I knew it would be successful when it was fully unveiled back then. But I never imagined it would be this successful. The sales projection for the hardware was 125 million (told by Nintendo executives in 2017). They’re far beyond that number. It’s astonishing. I wonder if Nintendo can do this trick again with the successor.
Agree with everything said here, apart from John's slight gripe with TotK's performance. I was personally astounded by it and didn't find any issues. It still blows my mind how it runs so well.
Their success comes from not really being the competition. Nintendo has always been its own thing and I’ve always bought the next Nintendo console for Mario, Zelda, Kirby etc. In my head there is PC, Nintendo, and game consoles.
The latter of which has come to have so few exclusives that give and brand identity and are basically just slightly less capable PC’s.
the reason why the ps4 & the switch sold over 100 million consoles is because they put out games that everyone wanted to play and they were truly only available on their platform

My Wii U Gamepad is still looking like new even with years of use. What are these people doing to their gamepad
Depending were do you keep it can change its fate, mine started to have those sticky joysticks just a few months ago
They dont play it anymore, that's why. Anybody who plays the gamepad regularly never experienced what he talked about, the plastic doesnt even wear out like most Xbox or PS controllers. Mine isnt sticky either (Black gamepad). Thumb grips exist anyways so its a non-issue. Switch drift on the other hand requieres professional repair and they are just worse in every way. Just goes to show that technical fidelity can only get you so far, while art style makes or breaks a game's overall visual quality.
Nintendo is leveraging their IPs brilliantly. Please also note that they are setting up a 2D-3D dual release for Mario, Zelda and Metroid. A potentially brilliant strategy that services both the fans and their development schedules.
It is clear that Nintendo has learned from when they had huge software gaps on the Wii U.

Absolutely agree with switch games day 1. I have 5 or 6 Switch games I bought day 1 but haven’t played yet because prices don’t drop. I don’t do that with other platforms much.
The titles made me think Switch Eternal was the name or codenane for the next console

definitely agree on nintendo games being good day1 purchase, sales at most is like 30% for a week then they go back to original launch price
budgets and dev times have gone up 900% but we still interact primarily by moving a 3d character around w an analog stick, so why spend 100x the money for the same game?
The Switch's year to year A- to A+ game disbursement is a winning formula that could go on forever, with succes. Nintendo creativity is wonderfully fun.

@@gavinrhodes7645 Doing good as always
Alex, I think, just nailed it. We don't need cutscenes. I personally just skip whatever cutscene I run into. I don't care about story telling in games so watching cutscenes in games is just a chore for me. I want art direction, nice sound, style and simple and fun gameplay mechanics. I know a good portion of the users do look forward to storytelling and cutscenes for some (weird) reason, but look where the obsession with that has led us to.
1:20 aside from main controller never functioning properly and being designed for baby hands, it is great
We eventually got some great third-party solutions, thankfully.
Baby hands? I have pretty large hands and I haven't had any size issues with the joycons outside of them being awkwardly designed. The drift, however....ugh. It sucks.
more developers finally understanding how to get as much out of the Tegra x1 is certainly helping but I think its also Nintendo has finally figured out what games the audience wants and the switch's hardware is up to task running without looking like someone smeared vaseline on screen oh and having a massive back log you can "remaster/port" to pad your library and keep focus on the console never hurts
my switch joycons are also feeling like tape. it's unfortunate. but i suppose that's the result of being behind hte TV for such a long tine. maybe it was humid or something
My though is that the most valuable thing about Switch is, Nintendo design it to be a toy, not a "game console". You are supposed to have fun, not to debate on how to have fun.
And like, Nintendo published games aren't even the biggest value on the Switch. Having something that can play my favorite games wherever and however I want to just feels good. And I actually had most fun playing smaller indie titles on Switch even though they likely run better on Steam.
And Nintendo published games? There's the two game coupon that makes their games relatively cheap. Like, sure it usually doesn't go much cheaper than that, but if I'm actually interested in a game I wouldn't want to wait for a sale anyway.
I agree with Alex, I don't think ANY studio need the expensive cut scenes. If they made their graphics without the need to render facial hair and focus on appealing art styles, the cut scenes wouldn't need the level of fidelity they go for now. At the end of the day, those cut scenes are a fleeting moment in a game and not worth my money if the game loop is boring.
DLSS is likely gonna be doing some heavy lifting on Switch 2. And the Cortex-A78 cores will be a huge IPC leap over the A57
for a 1st party perspective its great but i wouldn’t go out of your way to play major 3rd party releases on here without having a seriously compromised experience
The switch itself its pretty rugged. My kids will crack an ipad or phone within 6 months. But we had your switch for 4 years and the unit and screen remains intact aside from a slight wobbly noise coming from the cooling fan.
What are you talking about? I use my wiiu weekly and the control stick aren't sticky. I must just take care of my device.
You keeping that stick in a vacuum? The rubber on those sticks WILL become sticky...
@@orionarclight Had it since 2015 splatoon edition, and trust me when I say it's had heavy use with the amount of mods and jailbreaks I've done on it. The sticks are perfectly fine. Either they switched different sticks in later models or I'm not sure what's up. No stickiness at all though
@@zfighter3 Oh that's cool, yea hopefully they did revise the stick on later models
I think that if it’s used frequently enough and you keep your hands clean, the sticks should be fine. It’s really about consistent use and cleanliness.
@@orionarclight mine are not sticky either, and i bought it second hand off a child user. mine is the black version so it doesnt yellow either. the controller feels like the same rubber as any other controller. i think it feels great. way better than the joycons
“perfect organism”, me too rich, me too
Nintendo just make the best games most of the time. ... ... if not EVERY TIME..
I value gameplay more than graphics. Although, you still have to present a great product for people to actually buy, and feel that gameplay. Nintendo games are just stellar when it comes to the feel of a game that is hard to put into words. Most people who have played and enjoyed a Nintendo game, know exactly what I'm talking about. It's the people who will never try it because it looks bad to them are missing out. I'm just started replaying Metroid Dread a few days ago, I am enjoying just as much as the day I bought it. Granted, it's been a bit since Metroid Dread was released, and my memory is frankly terrible, but I'm am still shocked at just how good this game is. It is the best platformer I have ever played, it's running at 60fps, and looks gorgeous on that OLED display. Kudos on Nintendo for the incredible job they provide. My only criticism with Nintendo, are the remasters that they continue to make, that I personally hate. I am not a fan of remasters, unless the game is ancient. Bringing back a decade old game doesn't impress me, especially if I have played it. Remasters are great for those who have never played a those classics, which I guess you could say it is who they are targeting. I'm just not a fan of any remasters, regardless of platform. For example, every year people keep hoping and praying to see Sony release a Bloodborne Remaster, when in my opinion, people should be asking for a Bloodborne 2. There is nothing wrong with Bloodborne as it is. Sure, it would be nice to play Bloodborne at 240fps, but wouldn't you rather see the next chapter of that game? If Nintendo sat you down at a table, told you that you get to pick 1 out of 2 games sitting in front of you, with Bloodborne Remster on the left and Bloodborne 2 on the right, who also mentions privately that you are the first and only person who knows that these two games exists, and then you get to pick. Without question, you are going to pick Bloodborne 2 over Bloodborne Remaster. Do not tell me you wouldn't pick Bloodborne 2, because there is not way anyone could walk away from a brand new Bloodborne experience. Look, I get that Bloodborne is a masterpiece. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I just feel like when more people request for a remaster, the less likely a company would budget on a sequel. Then again, we are talking about Sony here, who have more than enough money to develop both a Bloodborne Remaster alongside a Bloodborne 2. And who knows... Maybe Sony, is in fact, producing both games at the same time. Now I'm starting imagine just how incredible it would be, if Sony launched both a Bloodborne Remaster and a brand new Bloodborne 2 together. Oh my god. Wouldn't that be something special? The sales numbers would be astronomical. What's funny is that Sony knows this right? Sony knows how just how special Bloodborne means, to millions of people, and I wouldn't be surprised if this scenario actually happens. It's a slam dunk strategy. Experiencing both games back to back. Anyways, back on topic, instead of fantasizing here, so I'll just end it with this. Requesting remasters freaks me out, because I want to ensure that budgeting goes directly towards a new experience, and not possibly holding back a game, that we now have to wait even longer for. Do you see what I mean? Or, am I crazy? There will be a Bloodborne 2. There is no doubt about it. It is not even a question. Bloodborne 2 is going to happen, and I feel like no one cares. So, lets hype it up. That's all I got. I go on these tangents all the time, so I apologize for going off topic.🤣Nintendo rocks, Cheers! 🍻
Honestly I've bought the switch right after launch and gotten a ton of kileage from it, mostly using it ib portable mode. Tons of great games and still works great, the only issue was stick drift but I solved that with hall effect sticks.
The only reason it aged well was they supporting it with 1st party games which matters the most on Switch but anything else they got left in the dust by a more powerful handheld and hardware any other 3rd party games played better on any other competing handheld and last gen console.
Their new hardware will be relied on gimmicks again just to stand out and seemed worth buying because they will still release their 1st party games on Switch.
This is just them always being cheap and family friendly sells, but their game prices said otherwise, look at all their full priced remasters lol.
Nintendo has traditionally been very set in terms of their prices. However, I do agree that Nintendo does things right; especially with the perceived value of their games. It's definitely impressive what Nintendo has managed to do with the limited hardware. It just shows how well optimized Nintendo games are.
I think it would be nice if PlayStation and Xbox games were more optimized and more fun rather than pushing for raw hardware specs to make things as photorealistic. Nintendo IPs are unique in that regard and I think that's why I've been really considering to get a Switch these days even though honestly I want a PS5 a little bit more. The big things that is holding me back is the whole consumer regret that I might feel if the PS5 Pro and or Switch 2 comes out and I bought a PS5 Slim and or a Switch OLED.
If i wanted more power on my portable I'd play on my Deck or Laptop instead
The Switch has a secret, it is quite heavily underclocked to preserve battery life.
I think the cross-gen nature of the current gen consoles help make the Switch's argument for it. Not every game has a AAA budget or pushes artistic or technological boundaries, nor do we expect them to. As we've discovered, a lot of people still are on PS4/XB1, and those customers still have a lot of great games coming out for them. In the same way, if Switch games look "good enough", with the added benefit of being portable, that's still a win in many instances. I think of how excited a lot of people are about the Marvel vs. Capcom collection. These are 30 year old games, but they're beloved games, and now we have the chance to take them on-the-go? I'm quite positive that will be a hit on Switch. I think both Microsoft (Doom, Minecraft) and Sony (Lego Horizon) see the same thing.
Still waiting for a price drop before I buy one.
Glad it was a success I have one and not 1 game made it worth the wires and plugs it uses in the wall.
playing Zelda at 15 fps does not feel like fine wine
You’re making this up, no Zelda runs at 15 fps.
@@ilbroduccioretotk drops frames all the time when you use the stupid hand thing
Wonder if Switch 2 with use a similar chipset to Snapdragon SOCs used in modern VR headsets. If they pivot into VR in the generation after Switch 2, at least their software might be backwards compatible.
It comes down to the interest you have in a game library and what perceived value you attribute to them. I've been playing since ColecoVision and C64/128. Thirty years have passed since I've had any interest in core Nintendo games. Nintendo was late to the party with N64 and PS snatched up the aging audience.
There is no world where I would choose Nintendo over a PC or one of the consoles (PS/Xbox). Nintendo is not even in consideration for purchase anymore. Some people online seem to love them.
I still use mines on the daily to play Nintendo exclusives.
If the games are fun, then yes.
Fun always comes first. If that's not there, nothing else matters. Not the art, sound, music, graphics... My only gripe with switch is I wish ALL games were 60 FPS. Performance does impact gameplay feel and responsiveness, its #2 after Fun. Sound and a sense of impact would be #3 and #4, then music #5, then graphics or art style.
Also this filtered out competency between developers, you have monolith soft and then there's gamefreak
In ports you have doom and witcher and then there's mk 1
I agree with pretty much everything Dark says about the Switch.
Benefit of not having two separate platforms
I may never buy a Nintendo product, but they do know how to be the Apple of gaming
Nintendo's non-reduction of prices makes gamers prioritize which games they buy and when they buy them. As a result, gamers that want to buy specific games will not buy them all at once but instead will buy them slowly over time, spreading consumption and giving Nintendo a stable flow of income. The fact that games are high quality helps a lot, because that way gamers will continue to remember them and think of them after several months, until they eventually buy the game.
Cut scenes are fine, you have to remember what you like isnt the world.....
It’s probably aging well because they care about quality of just fun games instead of being all about graphics and power, the core audience is everyone especially families who typically just wanna have a fun game night every now and then without caring about how much power the console has
Nah I totally get about Nintendo never doing strong discounts on their games... After all I'll never forget I felt scammed buying NFS 2015, even though it was 80% off. I hated the baby difficulty on the cops.
Its aging like Night train.
Thats absolutely terrible. But actually *really good* for 8 year old portable hardware. I dont know how to continue the metaphor, others are wild irish rose?
But still, its 8 year old portable hardware.
The longer time goes on, the more Nintendo will be proven right about the race to the top of powerful consoles. Everything will plateau eventually, and developers will only have so many resources to make games look and perform better. They’ll always be like 5 years behind or whatever, but in the grand scheme of things, it’s really not that much time.
It's aging the rest of gaming that's for sure
