Great video. Thank you for your hard work. I lived in the DMV for 8 years, and moved to Texas. I'll say this though, between The Woodlands-Sugarland-Houston region, and the Dallas-Fort Worth region, a lot of the master planned communities in Texas run circles around the ones in DMV.
I have family and friends in TX. They are all concerned with the increase of shootings and the influx of CA folks moving in and raising the prices. Yes, shootings are happening everywhere in the US it seems but TX has had way too many. I said to heck with it all and moved abroad. I've never felt so relaxed and safe.
Rather, these places may be rated as suburbs of Washington DC, not the best ; there’s Takoma Town so close that it might as well be part of DC and not forgetting Annapolis , the original Capitol City of USA. Residents use commuter coaches to DC without needing to drive.
Bologna - - only places picked were Liberal areas - if you really want to live a peaceful life go to any small town west of Frederick County. I was raised on a 640 ac farm in Big Pool and have lived a wonderful life all over the world.
I don’t know why Howard County is considered to be a suburb of Baltimore. To me it feels more like a suburb of DC, save for Ellicott City which people in Baltimore have a real connection to, and Fulton is actually closer to DC I would argue supports my perspective. Harford County for example feels very much like a suburb of Baltimore, and people from Baltimore talk about Harford County like it’s a suburb of the city. The only reason I care is because when Howard County is included in statistics on housing prices, it makes it seem like Baltimore housing prices are higher than they actually are, when the reality is that you can get some real deals in places like Baltimore County and Harford County. It won’t be as nice as the places on this list, but it’s more affordable for working class people, lol.
The divide runs through HoCo, and indeed through Columbia. I agree E.C. looks to Baltimore, and Fulton trends toward D.C. Columbia itself leans more toward Baltimore I think, but it's a big area.
I agree you could make that case for the major metropolitan areas. But some places are a nightmare in rush hour. I avoid going to my brother's house in Chevy Chase, at all costs during that time period. And Wisconsin and Connecticut Avenue are always horrible. @@CarynGardiner
Gee, Maryland's bigger than Montgomery Cty. I notice ALL the of these places had C's for cost of living. Nothing for the average person. Sure these are great places to live if you can afford it.
Damn , not a one in prince georges county !! Who would have thought !! ( raised in bladensburg before it webt to shit ) lived in camp springd untill it went to shit , lived in clinton until it went to shit !!!! All B.T.N.M.I. )
I don't agree with this rating from this Niche thing its seem skewed to Mongomery county, there are other places to live in Maryland thats nicer, this woman is all about Rockville and that area,,people do your own research don't listen to this crap.
Many of the areas on the list are indeed very nice. Many also have terrible traffic congestion, high property taxes and are much more geared towards the metropolitan areas. Chevy Chase and the Bethesda are especially bad for traffic and are less than welcoming if your politics are right of center. Some of my favorite areas in Maryland are St Michaels and Annapolis. They have high taxes and in the case of Annapolis, some congestion, but they have wonderful small town feels and are further away from the hustle bustle.

Awesome detailed video! If this Cali girl was to ever relocate to MD, Rockville would be an awesome choice based on your videos. 😊
Rockville is expensive. Try Germantown, or Silver Spring. Still pretty close to Rockville.
I love Rockville! Thanks for watching 😊

There are some really nice homes near Forest Glenn. Rockville MD is really really nice.
I live in southern Gaithersburg. Pretty much North Potomac. I love it here :)

Takoma park MD does border DC and there is Takoma park DC right on the other side 🙂
Also poolesville ,md was not mentioned, great area, terrific schools!
You left out the Eastern shore of Maryland says my wife who grew up in Four Corners!
It’s not my list!
NIST is in Gaithersburg not rockville, Whitman is bethesda, dufief elementary is in n. Potomac, not mentioned.
My grandma lives in Rockville.
Lmao
Trying to figure out why you left out Brooklyn Park on your list, Mrs. Gardiner 🤔
It’s not my list
@@CarynGardiner i'm just joking lol this is a helpful list and one that brooklyn park def doesn't belong on
I just found out we’re moving to the area and would love some help!

Columbia and Fulton are great places to live!

What are your thoughts on Columbia? I think I remember it on last years Niche list
I was surprised it didn’t make the top 10.
gibson island should be on here and maybe columbia and crofton
Really. I though Columbia, Annapolis, Frederick, places in Calvert Cty, and St. Mary's Cty.
No they are in Howard County and Arundel County

Ya. But right next door ☺️
I'm shocked that traffic congestion and property taxes are not taken into consideration.
To be honest, our whole state suffers from traffic and high property taxes compared to other states 🤷🏼♀️

Sooo no one's gonna mention how all the crime rate ratings were " - "
in those areas the crime is not bad, hence why these are desirable places, chevy chase is one of the richest zip codes in the country
It was a national rise
I live in Rockville, the crime is low here, hence why it’s very sought after.
I live in the Potomac area, the most police action we get around here are traffic stops for people going 5-7 over the speed limit very low crime rate
Realtors aren’t allowed to mention crime rates. The truth might offend the offenders families.

The traffic is crazy during the week. It is "not "in your best interest to live close to metro stations.....read the crime reports.
Don’t you think it depends on the metro 🤔
Go at jight
So don't go anywhere but outskirts of DC
Lol. It’s not my list! 😉
Go to belize and PNW
It's disappointing that Frederick didn't make it to this list
Frederick is boring as sh**. No offense I am happy to move out of here. I'm moving to Montgomery county.
I live in Salisbury and nothing really happens where I live
