  • Dream Cream - I have done many videos of the importance of relaxation and avoiding stress where possible. In that same vein comes this wonderful Medicinal cream. Magnesium Chloride has been studied (see links below) and found to show true benefits in regard to helping folks to relax/sleep and in some cases still under review even help with pain.

    Epsom salts is a salt. It IS a salt chemically. It is two ions not covalently bonded so it is a salt. The positive ion is the magnesium and the negative ion is the SO4 sulfate ion.

    Patrick, my new and quickly dear RUclips soaper friend, you are such a good teacher and mentor and naturalist. I really am greatful for your presence and knowledge. There is so much I’d love to learn from you. BTW, that is the sweetest picture of the goats all snuggled up! Hugs from Ontario.

      Just wanted to let you know that my second batch of soap turned out rather awesomely. I don’t as of yet have the herbal colourant and healing properties knowledge yet so I went with micas and TD. It’s swirls purple white and a wonderful green and a 5 lb batch at that! I went for lemon grass, 5X orange oil, lavender, peppermint and bergamot essential oil blend I concocted on the spot for the scent. It’s heavenly. I hope the potency stays, any tips on that? Kaolin clay addition perhaps? You sound wonderful and cheery in this video, btw. It warms my heart. Ttys.

      Patrick, how wonderful, that sounds fantastic, and micas are a great product and perfectly safe to use, so no worries. That sounds like a great EO blend, as for keeping the scent, hot process soaps are much friendlier to EO than cold process since add after saponification. In cold process a few tips, yes clay is a good anchor for scents, also a small water discount can help, since there is less evaporation during the cure. Some EO are better at sticking around, Lemongrass is great, but lemon is not one with staying power, it's a matter of testing and seeing what works best.

    • @SoapyOaksFarm
      @SoapyOaksFarm  5 лет назад +2

      Hi Tanya, the basics of this one is about 75% water, 20% oils, 5% emulsifier, 5% you can use any lotion recipe or calculator like this one at lotioncrafter lotioncrafter.com/pages/calculators , thanks so much

    • @teecee3143
      @teecee3143 Год назад +1

      Hey Tanya, if you use the % as grams it will be easier for you to follow, for example 75grams water, 20grams oil, 5gr emulsifier, that should add to 100grams of product - you don't need a preservative because the magnesium will prevent any bacteria from raising its ugly head 😁and you are good to go- I wouldn't bother going to the lotion crafter site- it's for those who formulate full time and I'd rather keep it simple

    I want to make this right away.. A good substitute for my night cream. I have a few questions if you don't mind
    1. Can I substitute the oils or is it a must I use what you have listed? In my pantry i'm missing Pumpkin seed oil, Hemp seed oil, Argan oil, Black seed cumin oil . In my pantry I have : Macadamia oil, Avocado Oil, Sunflower oil (Plain, infused with herbs and another batch infused with coffee)
    2. Can I add butters on this?
    3. Also missed , The water phase part, you used the magnesium right? Or did you use distilled water?
    4. Did you heat up the water and oils or you mixed while cold?
    Thank you.

      @SoapyOaksFarm thank You for being so kind to share this lovely recipe with us! Not many companies put their recipe they sell up for others to make themselves. Ty for remembering us that 1. Love to make our own 2. This is MUCH less expensive than buying even cheap lotion nowadays & I'm on SSDI. I DID look up the possible dangers bc my one cat loves to lick oil and she's particularly attracted to this one. Bc these are very high levels of magnesium, I checked and YES, mag. Oil is very dangerous to a cat, probably small dogs as well. So I'm just putting it on at night in places she cant lick like my legs. Lol ty again!

    Wow that is a power packed tube of loveliness. Is it made for any specific purpose or just general moisturisation? Love your wonderful calm holistic approach. Never heard of pumpkin oil, is that something you also make? Can you do a video on using mallow, root and flower, sometime please?

    • @SoapyOaksFarm
      @SoapyOaksFarm  5 лет назад

      Kath, magnesium has several benefits when applied to the skin, it's one of those few minerals we can absorb transdermally and has shown promise in several areas. I list a few articles in the description as well. As for the pumpkin seed oil, it s full of antioxidants and beneficial fatty acids that help the appearance of skin, I don't make it, I purchase it. As for Mallow, are you referring to marshmallow? if so I have used in shampoo bars, can certainly discuss in upcoming video.

    • @kathsmith5064
      @kathsmith5064 5 лет назад

      Hi Patrick. Yes I was on about the marshmallow plant. I have read that it is good for the skin. I do not make soap or anything but the craft fascinates me.

    What a great product!!!! Won't it separate? I have 44lbs of Epsom salts at home, not magnesium chloride. And no idea what to do with it. Since you have 55 gallons plus 8lbs of it maybe you have an idea for a recipe and another great video?😊

    • @SoapyOaksFarm
      @SoapyOaksFarm  5 лет назад +1

      Irene, the wax is the emulsifier, so no issues with separation. I don't actually have 55 gallons of it, just that I store it, and other dry ingredients in there, so it's hard to get on camera and no label, so I purchased the bag for the video. I love Epson salts and yes will try and put something together, thanks so much
