After watching one of your videos on Magnesium Lotion, I decided to try it. I am 55 yo. I have had trouble with back spasms, restless leg syndrome, and difficulty sleeping for over a decade. The very first night of using the lotion, I had no spasms, no legs jerking around, and I actually got a couple of hours in a row of sleep! I am now a couple of weeks in, and it is NOT a fluke!!! This stuff works for me!!! What a GIFT!!! Thank you!!! Tried making my own today... fingers crossed I did it right :)

@@ritasaragosa3829I agree. I do that all the time.
I just buy a canister of the powdered magnesium (which lasts a long time, even if you make it mixed with water as per directions in order to drink it), then mix a teaspoonful of the powder with about a teaspoonful or so of very hot water ( so it dissolves to clear into the water).
It will foam up with a "whoosh" and then you will just see clear water.
After it cools a bit, I just splash it on my skin (like arms and legs, tummy, etc.)
I wouldn't put it on my face only because it may feel a little "sticky" for a while and face delicate facial skin feel a little dry or tight.
I keep some around just in case of leg or foot cramps, because splashing it on will give immediate relief.
But following the directions on the canister, and mixing it with water to drink, should keep away any muscle cramps anyway, if you use it daily or a few times per week as a supplement.

I did everything she said last night exactly the recipe, I don’t have a food processor, did in a pan on stove to melt everything.
But it was very oily- I let it sit for awhile it never thickened- put in Frig overnight to see if wound set up- it did a little, but still a lot of oil- I tried doing my mixer to get smooth & creamy- but it never did! Waste a lot of ingredients & $. What did I do wrong? Hope could tell me

Magnesium saved my life!!! Around April 2019 I was trying to figure how many more years I could live with the pain in my back before I offed myself! For months I had been seeing this commercial about a product called Theraworx that contains magnesium, and how it stopped muscle cramps in its tracks. A friend tried it and said it was amazing! I have a major muscle group injury in my back that began with a hernia just to the right of my spine. The first time I tried it, tears of relief streamed down the sides of my face!! I hadn't been able to take a full breath in a decade! All of the pain and tension just melted away!! Then I discovered magnesium liquid pills, and with that I was able to relieve pain I wasn't even aware I was having!! So, long story short, thanks to magnesium, I no longer think about offing myself!!

Same! Herniated disks in my neck and pain in every joint. When I discovered theraworxx I cried because the doctor told me I could no longer take Allieve or Advil bc autoimmune disease and my stomach. I didn’t know what to do with the 24/7 pain. Later I discovered 2000 mg of omega 3 fish oil and it got rid of the inflammation of joint pain. I take 400 mg of magnesium (can prev) Glycinate daily now to help prevent inflammation too.

I stir a few times. The oil absorbs a lot. I let the crystals that are still solid settle and skim myself some for deep tissue massage. I was having weird muscle symptoms with my legs feeling kind of shaky and of course I have always dealt with leg cramps. I had a bottle of the magnesium spray and one night decided to start using it. I just a quick 5 spritz spray on my ankle, rubbed it in and used what was on my hands on my elbows. I realized quickly that I needed to do this when I was ready to go to sleep because within about 30 minutes I was out. I would sleep hard for several hours until I woke up to use the bathroom. And then easily fall back to sleep. I stopped using it this summer and have paid for it with muscle and joint aches and my tinnitus seems to be so much worse. So I’m back to using it.

Omega 3 fatty acid 2000 mg helped at the height of inflammation for me due to autoimmune disease. I had joint pain and tinnitus . The pain was so bad that I quit sugar which caused alot of inflammation that quickly ended a year long battle with plantar’s fasciitis. I supplement Magnesium daily as well to keep inflammation in check. Changing your diet really prevents it. Also gluten is a big inflammatory and you don’t have to be gluten intolerant. I hope your health improves , it’s very debilitating to deal with pain. It was starting to break me.

beeswax is not an emulsifier. According to several chemists, any emulsion derived from beeswax is not an emulsion. The derived substance does not act like an emulsion or even a butter. Due to the high viscosity of beeswax and the force applied, water is trapped in the blend.

Candelilla wax has a similar scent and melting point to beeswax, meaning that they can be used almost interchangeably. Candelilla wax is used as an ingredient in skincare products as well as candles and as a glaze in food products.”

I love making my magnesium lotion w/jojoba oil because the molecules in jojoba are able to penetrate deeper than some other oils. I also really like beef tallow as well, though it does tend to go rancid if not used in a timely fashion~ usually not an issue. =)
Magnesium is one of those things that nearly all people are deficient in. Every possible way of supplementing it is a good thing! There are now even magnesium "float spas" where you can soak in a big pod full of I believe around 1,500 lbs of dissolved magnesium~ haven't done it yet, but I'd sure like to. =) It's hard to justify spending that much money, as I believe it's around $50 per 30 minutes or so~ yikes!
Just found the "Ancient Minerals" brand last year, bought an 8lb bag of the crystal flakes. I think they sell it in 25 & 50 lb qty as well, if a person were getting serious about making mag lotion/oil/salve. Excellent source, imho.

That being said, notes: add essential oils to cover the smell of the tallow (smells like dog food). Possibly research better emulsifiers (mine seeped over half the magnesium oil out the first day :/)
You can do double the magnesium portion to one portion of water for double potency with less possible seeping.

So we need to talk about something that seems to be an oversight for you and it’s very important.
I tend to pay attention to when people are formulating things to what they could be improving. Just because it’s a lot of time something you don’t even take into consideration what I would recommend instead of putting the hot oil, these wax and Shea butter into your plastic container in the food processor is to let it cool down a bit before you add it. It should still blend up very well and incorporate with the magnesium oil.
The reason is is your leach and chemicals from the plastic container so even if you store it in the glass container you’ve already done damage to the lotionby adding hot fluids to the plastic container.

This is very close to the recipe I've been developing, except for a couple of things, so it's a huge help! Thank you. What I'm doing differently is using Emu oil (not vegan/vegetarian friendly, I know) and then using the part of resulting cream as a base for a lotion with magnesium bicarbonate water. I'm wondering about heat. I bought raw Shea butter and all other oils are cold pressed or as minimally processed as possible. So, why would I then heat those above 120° and kill the enzymes that keeping them raw is meant to preserve? My idea to solve this is to melt the wax first, let it cool some, add Shea butter and other oils as the mixture gets closer to their melting points. It seems to me like this is the best way to preserve all the benefits of these amazing oils. Any thoughts?

A tip is, it can be much easier quicker and cleaner if you determine the weight of your ingredients by the gram and then measure then into your container. Just tare the scale after each addition. We used stainless steel pots but we we’re making gallons of it. Lip balms and other smaller things we used a regular sized pot. An emulsifier wand is great also for blending. Check to see what temp your ingredients can tolerate before they are rendered inactive. (We could only hear to 160 because of vitamin D.)
Thanks for posting this 😊 if I can find all the ingredients (we moved to a new area) I might try this to see if it helps with sleep.

glad I found this right on time ,,, I was just at the lavender festival and came across a vendor that was selling lavender-infused lotion, candles, perfume, and other secrets and she was completely out of the magnesium rub and as a person with chronic pain I was very interested in that and recently was looking into investing in more natural ingredients and the next day your account was recommended on my channel as if youtube was evesdropping on me while I was shopping hah ha .. thank you for posting such easy clear straight forward recipe

I made this recipe and love it. It makes the skin feel so good. I have pain issues, fibromyalgia and arthritis, and put about a teaspoon of arnica powder in a jar of this lotion and stirred it in. It changed the consistency but helps the pain a lot. I wonder if I blended it in the beginning with the oils if it would be smoother, and then add the magnesium. Have you any experience mixing in powders?

Thank you! What a great idea about the arnica! I haven't tried any powders. But I know you can get arnica gel, and I wonder if mixing some of that in would work.

@@sweetmountainbaby I added arnica and boswellia powders to the warm oil and blended and the consistency was better. I have pain issues as well as sleep issues, hence the powders. For sleeping, Marissa's recipe is terrific. Her recipes show a great attention to detail and feel and look good.

I am going to try this . I was having body cramps( and they were all over my body ) atleast 30 to 40 a day. It was so uncomfortable that i wanted to lie down and have a good cry. I had heard that magnesium helped so i went to
Sam's and found the Magnesium Gummies. Relief was almost instant. I take 2 gummies a day and i no longer have body cramps. Thanks for sharing this lotion idea.
