Thank you for sharing, and thank you for your honesty and realness!! We raise our own beef and I recently rendered a lot of tallow. Your videos and website have been so helpful and encouraging as I am preparing to make tallow soap in the coming week. Blessings 😊
So happy to have found you! Thank you so much for all your videos/recipes. I’ve been making soaps for 20 years but never made with tallow. I’m raising grass fed cow, and this is just a wonderful way to utilize my resources. Wonderful!❤
Always loved your videos on tallow. You taught me so much and pushed me to research more and found out that it has so many skin benefits... Thanks for this video... Love from Nigeria
I actually used a tallow recipe I created, but used your process. It’s just divine and gave me back my favorite Dr. Bronzer’s- like soap that I miss as an expatriate. Thanks so much.
I've looked everywhere for the recipe so I can print. Ended up watching the video again and writing it down as I watched. Am I missing the link? I want to be sure I have it correct and would love the print version. Thanks so much! Learned to render tallow by watching your video and have lots ready and waiting for this project! Curious also about using this liquid soap as a base for shampoo???? Any thoughts on that?
Hi Marissa, I so appreciate your solid skills in soapmaking - no frills or old myths! I did want to share a tip if you don't mind? Adding the glycerin in with the oils and lye solution will significantly speed up trace. For me, it cuts the stickblending time almost in half! I've also stopped cooking liquid soap at all. I just blend to paste stage, let it sit overnight, and then dilute. HTH, and thanks as always for sharing!
Thank you! I've found that during the dilution phase it's not necessary to keep the soap warm. Boiling the water to sanitise it is enough. It takes longer to dilute (a few days) but personally I prefer that method as it's less labour intensive. In other words, I'm too lazy! 😂
I love your video and this recipe. I use tallow in my cold process soaps and want to make liquid soap using tallow for the first time. This is exactly what I have been looking for. I have one question, though. I don't have a large SS pot and don't want to go to the expense of buying one just to try this out, would it work if I mixed the water and the glycerin in a smaller ss pot and then transferred the water/glycerin mixture to the crock pot with the soap paste in it for the dilution step, rather than scooping out the paste into the pot and finishing it on the stove? I hope this makes sense?
Thank you Marisa, I have started incorporated all tallow kind of body care one by one from your recipes. I have question, what did you do with the rest of the soap? How do you store it?
I've never found it necessary to mix my lye outdoors. I just do it on my stove top with the exhaust fan going. The most important thing is just not to lean over the bowl or inhale the fumes!
I’m just finishing up making it! It looks like it is turning out great. The one thing that did not match with Marissa‘s was when I was cooking it in the crockpot. It never really got translucent before I added it to the glycerin mixture. It was very thick. But I kept it in the crockpot for the amount of time she suggested and now it is going through the delusion phase. It is the next day and it’s almost finished. Can’t wait to add some nice essential oils to it and try it! Thank you, Marissa! I made it following your video, but I didn’t notice you have it on your website now. I’m hoping there is some instructions on how to store the leftovers and whether I should add a preservative to the soap dispenser when I am using it.
Do you use special equipment (I.e. a dedicated crockpot, dedicated immersion blender) or is it the same equipment you would use with food and such? Basically I’m wondering if I would need to buy separate equipment to make soap, or is it safe after cleaning it to use for making food with?
I saw a video on making Castillo Liquid soap and she mixed the trace soap and water with the emulsifier mixer and that combined the water and concentrate. Any reason that wouldn’t work rather than cooking it overnight?
Hi Marissa.. i'm from Mauritius island and I like watching your videos where I learn a lot from you.i want to know if it's possible to add orange peels when making tallow balm.
Hi, im new to your channel :) was looking for a liquid tallow soap recipe and came across this video 😊 I’ve made hard tallow soap before only using tallow, I was wondering for the liquid soap could I also JUST use tallow? Would I need to adjust amounts or can I follow the recipe as is with only using tallow as oil base?
Render it with water and salt the same as Marissa has shown in a different video for rendering beef tallow. You may have to repeat the process two or three times.
NOW is the brand she used in the video, and it's readily available. You could probably find it at any health food or supplement shop. I've used it before (though not for soap making) and it's really good and pure.
If you are adding extra water to your original soap base you have made (ie, adding mainly water in the hand soap dispenser with a small amount of tallow LS), it will need a preservative.
I ran short of about half a cup of the vegetable glycerine but went ahead anyway. My liquid tallow has been bubbling away now for 14 hrs and is still not fully combined and liquified. It still contains large lumps of gel. What can i do at this stage to save it 😞 can i add anything to it
Wow as mich as I love making everything myself and love tallow It is way too involved to spent two days making liquid soap, maybe next cold january I can dedicate weekend for it. Otherwise wildcrafting season is here, I am out into the wild and gonna keep using castile liquid soap as my hand soap for now. Thank you, I am still gonna save the recepie.
You don't have to hot process any soap, including liquid soap. You can just stick-blend to trace, then let the paste sit until it doesn't zap anymore. I also use only enough water to dissolve the lye (equal weight of water to lye), then use glycerin for the rest of the initial liquid for the paste. This not only speeds up trace, but also makes the soap more conditioning on the hands. :) Once the paste is zap-free, you can dilute immediately if you'd like. I dilute by pouring boiling water over the paste inside of a half-gallon canning jar. Let it sit overnight, and then it is soap the next day. :)
@@makeit2649 I never used hot process for soap. What you mean it doesnt ZAP anymore? So basicly do the same way as bar soap, just substitute glycerin and after it doesnt zap, whatever it means, dilute with boiling water, right?
I used to do all my liquid soaps all the way to the end in the crockpot. No need to deal with turning on an off the stove and dirty a bunch of other stuff... just saying that it works
Would you say the ph of the soap is suitable to use it on your face? I have super dry skin and looking for a soap that doesn’t strip the skin of all its moisture.
You would have to check the ph at the end of the process. The optimum pH value of skin on most of our face and body lies between 4.7 and 5.75. I use a ph meter for this. This is the one I have (APERA INSTRUMENTS AI209 Value Series PH20 Waterproof pH Tester Kit, ±0.1 pH Accuracy.) If you plan on making your own DIY products it's really worth the investment. I hope this helps.
Do you have dedicated containers, spatulas, and crockpot for soap making? I would probably not be super comfortable with using that crock for food after this.
i did learn a few things here. thanx for that. i'm confused why there is a second cook time of an hour- you didn't stir it or say to stir it. frustrating
Marissa 👀 I can’t believe this info and recipes are all FREE!! So grateful BUT - you could absolutely monetize this content and be selling this as a course! $$ you could easily make this accessible to anyone while making way more money than RUclips pays you.
I usually love your videos. This one was very confusing. You skipped so much that I haven't got any idea how to make this. I guess I'll find another channel.
Great video but PLEASE stop showing us you pouring and weighing... BORING and a waste of time. Just a second or two will suffice. Keep up the great work!

Aww, you're welcome! So glad to hear it!
Why is ‘grass fed’ tallow better/needed? I have some tallow I made from costco briskets and do not want to waste it. Can I use for soap making?
This is whole lot of work.i salute your knowledge

I saw where you could grate up bar soap and add it to water to make liquid soap. Bar soap seems easier ?

Say I just wanted to use tallow with no other oils. Could I substitute the other oils for more tallow?
Hi from Canada 👋 could this also be used for washing the dishes? Thanks 😊
Where do you buy the eye glass for protection? Thanks in advance.
Good morning. Have you made goat milk lotion? If so do you have a recipe for it?

Did yours turn clear. Mine didn't turn translucent either. And it's almost done. But very cloudy
Does thia need a preservative if your adding water to the foaming pump bottle later?
It seems like it would. Maybe not the concentrated part . I guess it just depends on how fast you go through it.
I am an old fan .. loved your video ..best details on tallow on youtube 😊
Thank you so much!
I watched your shampoo bar recipe. Wondering if you think this recipe would be good for washing hair?
Yes it sure would!
Is the olive oil essential for making liquid soap? Can you make liquid soap from just tallow or lard?
Hi Marissa!! absolutely love this, thank you for sharing!!
Would it be possible and safe to add xanthan gum to it to thicken it a bit?
Thanks a lot!
Do you use special equipment (I.e. a dedicated crockpot, dedicated immersion blender) or is it the same equipment you would use with food and such?

My questions too… thanks Marisa for all your fabulous recipes and support!
Can we use this as a shampoo base as well?
Can we use the crock pot and mixer for cooking after making the soap?

Terimakasih, sudah banyak hal mengenai pengolahan tallow yg saya pelajari dari Bumblebee Apothechary,
Its a good video for learn, thanks
Could skip Lye with a Castile soup base? Or least I do
Would I be able to sub the olive oil in your recipes for macadamia nut oil. where I live, it it cheaper. thank you

Thanks for this video! I have stinky sheep tallow. Will the smell go away in the final product?
Render it with water and salt the same as Marissa has shown in a different video for rendering beef tallow. You may have to repeat the process two or three times.
What is more cost effective? Making liquid tallow soap or tallow bar soap?
I rendered some tallow gratefully thanks to your videos. I wiped it into my motorcycle seat
Glad it works for you!
Is there a way to keep tallow in a liquid state without many other additives?
Is it possible to have all your oil be from tallow?
Are there any special instructions on how to keep the soap that's left over?
I just looked up your channel on how to make soap then see this was uploaded an hour ago
Thanks for this! I don't see a link to the glycerin, do you have a recommendation on which brand to buy?
NOW is the brand she used in the video, and it's readily available. You could probably find it at any health food or supplement shop. I've used it before (though not for soap making) and it's really good and pure.
Thank you. That’s where those smooth top stoves come in handy. I have gas. 😬 So I baby what I do but I also don’t have any babies underfoot.
May I use Castor oil instead of coconut oil? Is this possible?
No you can't, because the castor oil is what gives your liquid and bar soaps the bubbles and lather, so it's used in small quantities.
Hi there. Can you make a liquid soap with only beef tallow?
Did you ever find an answer to this?
@@jonipitcher7185 helloooo. Yes I have made it with only tallow, it seems to make a white layer but the soap works
If you are adding extra water to your original soap base you have made (ie, adding mainly water in the hand soap dispenser with a small amount of tallow LS), it will need a preservative.
What kind of preservative?
Yes, please share what preservative, please.♥️🇨🇦

Make honey Castile soap, don’t waste your time or ingredients 😕😔 was so excited for this I even presold a bunch but it was garbage
Hello! I tried to make this and im in the dilution phase but its not clear like in the video. Did i do something wrong or is this ok? Thank you.
Can it just be left in the crockpot on low in the last dilution phase? So it stays warm
I think that would still be too hot.

Can you sub 100% tallow for this?
Ingredients?
You know that you can use the tallow to make suppository for hemorrhoids mix it with bees wax
You are great
Because it has water added to it why do you not need a preservative.
so, make bar soap and dilute it in glycerin
Using tallow in liquid soap makes it more challenging. Have you ever used bison tallow in this recipe? Thoughts?
What's the self life on natural soap? No one talks about it. We're going through an age where we have to relearn everything.
In my experience,,soap paste last for years than diluted.take, dilute how much you want in small quantity.
Hot Soap must dry for 6-7 weeks. Get alkaline testers to check if it's ok to use
For safety have ketchup or vinegar kicking around. Water wont stop a chemical burn.
