Qv owner here, had 3 M3s in a row before this. The QV is a master piece. What a machine. Feels so alive, so agile and just razor sharp, yet beautifully damped and controllable. The grip levels are immense , for such a powerful rwd car, and the engine really is special, it surges you forward so smoothly, and pulls hard to the limiter. Proper turbo motor and sounds raw and musical at the same time. It seems to pull harder in the higher gears, like it’s got different boost maps in different gears..think the 488 has a similar set up. Zero problems with the car either, been very reliable
having had a 2018 Giulia QV recently with a 600bhp AHM Remap, its got to be one of the best driving cars out there. Alfa for me no contest really. The thing you notice in every review and test-drive of the Alfa is that word "love", it really is a car that you can feel an emotional connection with. I don't think many people could feel that for a German car, or many modern cars at all actually, M3 included. I also really like the interior of the Alfa, having had to put up with horrible "digital cockpits" for the last five years or more it is wonderful to have proper analogue dials which are so much better. Would you choose a Casio over a Breitling? - I certainly wouldn't.
As someone that drives a Giulia and works for bmw I couldn’t agree more. Personally I think my gig is the best of both worlds as I get to drive both every day.
@@corneliusscipio777 they're both not that reliable was my point but Alfa here is worse they rank at the bottom for reliability. They're pretty bad cars, and the quality is more on par with a mainstream car than a BMW or Audi honestly Mazda and Hyundais have nicer interiors.
Alfa everyday and twice on a Sunday. The new 3 series is just too big for most of the winding Yorkshire B roads I have on my doorstep. Last generation everyone hated on the lexus rcf for being too heavy and feeling it's weight, here we are years later and the latest m3/4 are even heavier, bigger and uglier 😣
Alfa all day, for exactly the reason Dan mentions, suspension. Road cars without pliant suspension are turds, poorly engineered for where they'll spend most of their lives.
exactly, it's common misunderstanding that performance cars have to be very stiff, stiff cars are harmful to the car itself and also the point is to have the wheels planted to the road not jumping around because it got ron jeremy's shock in them.
Depends on where you live. If you live in a country with great roads you should have no problems driving and it even can feel better with hard suspension because you can feel the road really good and you know what is happening underneath you. But since the roads in the UK are quit rough I would understand that you want a more soft suspension set up car.
I actually prefer Giulia's Interiors, simple, elegant and harmonic at the same time, some leds here and there and some glossy stuff from the BMW are not going to buy me tbh, they look premium maybe but there's nothing premium on that tbh . I agree that the infotainment is a step ahead if not two though. Hopefully the next generation of Giulia is going to upgrade the infotainment and improve a little bit an already classy interior.
@@saidalas7763 I rally can name a few better interiors than Giulia's. Glossy stuff don't make interiors premium when other stuff look unharmonic. Just look at the dashboard curves, the M3 one is interrupted by that "tablet" and looks messy. The Giulia's one is so much more harmonic and elegant in that, the leather stitched makes it classy too. If some 100$ aluminum here and there gives you a premium feeling than that's on you, but that's not premium.
@@saidalas7763 cause Giulia is a 40k car maybe? The extra amount for the Quadrifoglio you're paying is for the engine, brakes and suspension tweaks. Why do I even need to explain this? It should be common knowledge for a car enthusiast.

Prosser nails it. As a M340i driver and a current previous gen m3 owner - it's obvious that this is more akin to an M5 from days gone by than something genuinely compact.
I was in the game of trading in my Ghibli for a QV in misano blue. I doubted that color to much. Still regret it.... Drove Audi’s, BMW’s, even Porsche. But the feeling of the handling of the Giulia is just unique. Of the cars I drove only Porsche comes close. Great review, by the way! Like your style!
It's like comparing apples and bananas, there is 5 years between these cars. Yet the Alfa still has the edge on handling and looks, the BMW has the edge on interior quality. If Alfa had launched their new Guilia Quad then I'm sure interior quality would be much improved. Alfa for me though.
@@radupiscanu1299 like I said, there's 5 years between these cars. Hardly a fair comparison given the speed with which models are introduced, upgraded etc.

I agree. I have owned a 2017 Giulia TI and now a 2021 BMW 330. The BMW has a better build quality and nicer interior but the Alfa is a better drivers car.
Easy choice the alfa guilia Quadrifogilo, the v6 ferrari engine, the imperfection, and the noises. All Jeremy Clarkson would describe as perfect. The m4 comp might make this a harder decision, especially with throttle house review on it.
It would have to be the QF... There's something magical about the way it gets down a road. Especially when giving it beans, it just feels so connected.
I made my choice 2 years ago and have never regretted a second. The poor interior quality might be partially to do with keeping the weight down, but I'm not massively bothered tbh. I just adore the way it drives. Now, even compared to the new M3, it is lighter, just as powerful, rides better, steers better and is cheaper. No contest. Buy an Alfa QV.

BMW design has been going downhill for a while, it's all so fussy and not well proportioned from the side. Alfa giulia anyday of the week. Looks better, sounds better, seems like it has better ride quality and the interior seems fine, unlike the overly fussy BMW interior.
If you're referring to material quality then yes, but interior design the Alfa is better. Hopefully next year Alfa release a further updated version and improve the material quality. Would be good if they improved the brake feel as well - a common complaint. And more sophisticated info entertainment system also. If they did those 3 things the Alfa would so far ahead of even this new m3.
@@nessuno5403 The infotainment system, brake feel and interior quality is still made an issue of even with the 2021 model. Alfa improved them yes but it's still behind.
How are you going to complain about the Alfa interior when you are comparing the base Alfa interior to a very upgraded M3 interior? Compare apples to apples! Get a Quadrifoglio with the track package that comes with the carbon fiber Sparco seats and giant carbon brembo brakes. My guess is you left those features out because the Quadrifoglio would mop the floor with the M3 if you weren’t complaining about the interior quality.
The M3 has the first carbon seats that are adjustable in the industry. Are those carbon fibre Sparco seats in the giula adjustable? Because if they aren't they are practically useless when not on a track. You mentioned interior then you mentioned carbon ceramic brakes. Something doesn't add up. The old M3 had a better interior than the Alfa. It's no surprise the new M3 has an interior 2 classes above
Alfa was outdated when it came out in 2016. The F8x gen BMWs absolutely destroyed the Giulia around corners and track. The new M3 absolutely shits on any alfa
