  • This is a 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. It hits 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and as specced, costs a little over $100,000 CAD. It is a sight to behold and an incredible member of the Alfa Romeo line up. But if we remove 'current' from the equation, something very interesting enters the stage. And it's something that's made a great impact on Thomas. Watch and enjoy. SUBSCRIBE!

If you're seriously considering one, research well the dealer/shops in your area that can work on them. There are many *many* stories of terrible dealerships, terrible backlogs at garages, and very bad supply issues, and most of those stories coming from US owners.

      Discoloured Buttflaps Discoloured Buttflaps i agree. A manual gearbox only limits the performance of a modern sports car, but if you think pushing down a pedal, (something a 6 year old is capable of doing with no experience) is fun, then I think you’re better off driving around in a Tesla. Might as well let the car do the driving for you. But hey, at least you’re going fast because fast always equals fun /s

    • @richardcarter8801
      @richardcarter8801 4 года назад +48

      @@Ballacha Nobody cares how much it limits performance. It's not an intermission in torque delivery that is fun, it's the interaction with the gear linkage, the feel of the clutch pedal, blipping the throttle on downshifts, double-declutching to preserve the synchromesh etc. So much from which an automatic or even DSG transmission will distance you when driving.
      There is a fundamental difference between a sports car and a track car. The former exists only to be fun to drive. Only ignoramuses would buy one car over because it's a couple of tenths faster to 60, rather than for how it drives. For this reason, I doubt I would ever buy a sports car without a manual transmission. If you can't understand this then I doubt you've ever driven a manual yourself - probably just another ignorant American driving a Pontiac Aztek.

      Almost, but not quite, as beautiful as the earlier versions. By '73 the grill had gotten a bit to busy and the quad headlights never looked quite as good as the single. I'd put the 69-71 era at the top, though tbf to the average Joe they'd hardly notice.

    I recently drove one and there is definitely something in it that every German car lacks, it would be my car if I had 90k to spend. It is so dialed in and the exhaust sound in track mode where it opens all the valves to basically be straight pipes is amazing. Both cars in this video are definitely my dream cars

      Get the Ti it has all the chassis dynamics and trust me I wish I had a track to really explore the limits. I don’t know where they hide the weight? It has enough power to get into trouble as I’ve learned. Why can’t it be a manual? Then it’d be perfect.

    Ok, I now regret not buying a white one, and I *need* that new steering wheel for my QV. I don't regret watching this video, or subbing to your channel because of it. You're spot on about the brakes, the steels can be sticky, too, but it's got softer actuation in Race. Also: disable the start/stop if you're not in Race- a lot less jarring at lights. Either way, great job on the video. You have a new fan.

    Had the opportunity to purchase a 2017 Quadrifoglio at sticker when they first came out. Decided to wait and bought the first 2.0 Giulia Sport they received. The driving experience was the absolute best. Owned numerous BMW’s over the years but they’ve lost their way. The steering and handling are everything the other manufacturers are missing. Really enjoyed owning it

    This is the one. This is the episode that was better than the ignition/head2heads from motortrend. The intro to this episode was extremely well done, whoever worked on it keep it up because I had chills, it immortalized Alfa’s legacy in a small snippet of time. You know what I want more of though, LAUGHTER! For instance the vibe that Cammisa and Lieberman had on camera together. It’s something that editing or film tricks aren’t able to hide or create. I know you guys worked with Cammisa and Randy Pobst that muscle car episode, which was the coolest thing on RUclips. Keep making videos!!! Love this channel.

    I learned how to drive in my dad's 1978 Alfa 2000 sedan with a double barrel Weber carburetor minus the velocity stacks (trombette) and later the US spec 1980 GTV Alfetta he bought with fuel injection lost a ton of power and the characteristic induction noise only a carburetor can offer. I do miss my 1990 Alfa 164 Quadrifoglio V6 which sounded great despite the fuel injection but this new car especially in the GTAm form is the best Alfa yet! Great review and comparison with that very valuable and original GTV well done!

    I have a 2017 Giulia Quadrifoglio and let me tell you, it is the best car I've ever driven and owned. I'm a huge car nut, no bias towards any brand, and I can assure anyone looking at the Giulia will not be disappointed. I've put about 10k miles on it so far (bought it with 2k miles on her), and it has been perfect. Besides some infotainment updates that are free from Alfa, everything has been flawless. Nothing compares to driving this car as a daily. I've owned an f80 m3, test drove the Merc 63 s AMG, Aurdi rs5, Porsche Cayman, and m2 comp before purchasing the Alfa. Best decision I've ever made.
    The review you guys did was great. Maybe a more in depth review of the Giulia would be nice to go over all the driving modes and such for another day. But nothing quite compares to Alfa!!!

Before I pass from this world, I will own another Alfa! Dang, why was I so practical?! Oh, and I love they mentioned the cigarette lighter! I didn't smoke but, that was the trickest lighter ever! Speaking of alfa unreliabilty, i owned an alfa gt for 7 years until recently. The engine itself was amazing, never missed a beat, never failed to start once. It was the rest of the car that was the issue, the suspension constantly failed, the gearbox died at 85000 miles, all of the metals were just a bit weak and soft. That being said, i loved that car and was sad to let it go but the costs of maintaining it had got to a point where it wasnt cost effective to keep. Would i have another alfa? Hell yes, just need a boring sensible car for a couple of years until my bank balance improves

    I have not driven the new ALFA but I had a 1972 GTV2000 with mechanical fuel injection and restored it to similar condition as the one you drove. I loved the way it drove and handled, sold it some years back and it now lives in the UK. Glorious is the GTV2000 (well all of them) - loved this episode.
