  • In this video I document my journey installing and calibrating Klipper on my Sovol SV06. Happy Printing!
    If you want to install Klipper on your 3D printer, you would need to download the software and follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer. Klipper is a firmware that runs on a microcontroller board and allows for advanced features and highly precise printing. Typically, you would need to flash the firmware onto the board using a computer connected to the printer through a USB cable. Once the firmware is installed, you can configure the settings and use Klipper with your favorite slicer software to create high-quality 3D prints. It is important to note that installing new firmware can be risky and may void your printer's warranty, so make sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully and PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK.

    I just wanted to say thank you, I’ve clipped my sv06 a few months ago, and your video was the main reason it worked thank you for guiding us trough it! 👍🏼👍🏼 I always was a little bit scared of doing it, but you have me motivation / hope ✌🏼✌🏼

    Great install and config video! I wish I'd found this video when I was struggling to configure Klipper on my previous printer before my SV06 Plus. Thanks for putting this together!

      Great I'm glad you liked it. There will be an update video soon, as it appears that some of the klipper syntax has changed in regards to PID tuning. I will also be attaching all my klipper and prusa configs to my videos in the discription.

    hi, once I install everything on pi imager and connect my board to power supply it doesn't connect to wifi. With default setup it does, but with this one (specific for 3d printer) it doesn't. That's a problem.

    While I like the concept of this video, and cool that you got it to work, would have been REALLY helpful if you would have included your commands. Next time you make a video, make your font larger or just increase magnification.

      The commands are all there in the video. I can see how a larger font would be helpful. I'll definitely make that change if and when I do another one of these type of videos in the future.

    I’m going to go over my sv06 and klipper again tomorrow and maybe I can get macros to work. Did it twice now on my own(before I saw this video) and both time I get everything up and showing up and the macros worked U til I try to print and I get a “can’t open print file” as soon as I hash tag put the Macros line in printer.cfg the file works fine but all the macros are gone again

I finally got the Klipper profile exactly where I want it for PETG. I came to realization that one of the biggest issues I had was the parts cooling. Also since this video was posted, I am using a completely different printer.cfg which is much more calibrated than the spinixguy config. So expect an Update with macros, prusa slicer config bundle, and my config files.

    I'd buy an SV06+ and install Klipper, but things are happening quickly in the competitive 3D printer market and I think we're close to an SV08 and hopefully SV08+ that's basically an SV06 with better part cooling and Klipper, and maybe a couple of other improvements. It's great that Klipper can be added to existing 3D printers but I'm getting lazy in my old age. 🙂

      @@fabianluethi03 - The SV06 was a good time to buy a 3D printer. It's a very capable printer with a lot of value for the money. If the SV07 was the SV06 with Klipper and extrusion/cooling to keep up with the faster speed, I'd have bought it instead of the Neptune 4 Pro. If I had an SV06, I'd be very inclined to upgrade it to Klipper, even with the stock extrusion and cooling because I don't really need more speed. I want better print quality and a better web based interface.

    • @room281tech8
      @room281tech8  Год назад +2

      I just used a 10ft micro USB cable. I plugged one end into the RPI 2.0 ports and then micro USB into the main board. Make sure your main board has been flashed first though. Then after its connected change the serial connection under the MCU section of your config to reflect your setup. That step is in the video.

    How do you align the z axis? I tried using cans, using the inductive sensor.Always get very bad first layer even with tight z-offset. Only by changing the bi-linear meh to UBL it can make somewhat decent first layer. I hope is i go klipper it help me with this problems.

    • @room281tech8
      @room281tech8  Год назад

      klipper is a much less user friendly out of the box than the stock firmware. make sure you can get a consistently good first layer before adding klipper to the mix. As for your issues, bed temp, bed level, z offset, filament temp all can affect your first layer. focus on getting those dialed in first. Perhaps posting some pics of your issue to a 3d printer group may be advantageous. i know FB has a fairly good sovol group.

      @@room281tech8 would be nice! I'm using hillsoftware firmware tha has ubl meshing, becouse it has 100 points measure and help me get a better firstlayer. The 25 points meshing isn't working, in the original firmware and the bilinear from hillsoftware, I did alot of testing printing more than 50 squares 100x100x 0.2mm. I'm getting mad with this. My last attempt will be silicone hose moving.

      @room281tech8  Год назад +1

      @@Gabs_Labs So from a fresh power-on, if I perform an Auto-home and check my z offset, my gap between the nozzle and bed usually will usually be too large. If I adjust my z offset to the correct position and perform a level bed function, and then perform auto-home after the bed level, my z offset changes.
      At that point I adjust my z offset one more time and then perform another level bed function. This time my z offset will be exactly where I last set it.
      The key is to get the z offset to return to the same spot, with the same offset after every level bed function. You want to look for repeatability. We don't want that offset changing after a bed level. Perhaps try this process to make sure your offset isn't changing.
      I'm not familiar with your firmware but this corrected the issue on the stock printer
