    I have literally gone from the R- 41M to the R-51M to now the RP-600.
    Here's my take - The R-41Ms and the R-51Ms are solid for anyone on a budget, and don't need to fill a big room.
    They sync up very well with even a class d amp. It appears that both of these are on sale somewhere reliable for the majority of the year too.
    Additionally, if you're like me; space can be a bit lacking, and you can't always blast music in the room you're in, both will be more than enough to enjoy them.
    However - if you're looking to get started with a home theater system, or have parties in your rec room/man cave, while the R line up will be sufficient, as they sound good for what they do, you'll be just so blown away at the difference of quality that the RP600s give off.
    It's nuts.
    R41ms are now my garage speakers - hooked up to a Fosi 2.0 amp. They work beautifully for that scenario.
    My r51ms are in my bedroom, hooked up to a 2.1 Fosi and a Monoproce 60 watt sub - and it's a near flawless set up for what I use it for. Perfect for movie nights & Netflix and chills ;) in bed and also listening to relaxing musicwhile going to sleep or during cleaning.
    The RP600s are in my theater room as the primary left and right speakers; accompanied by 2 additional r41ms for the rear speakers, a rc Klipsch center speaker & 12 inch Klipsch sub, driven by a 7.2 Atmos Sony reciever that I picked up for like $450 bucks. I cant complain with any of my setups. They all work perfectly for what I use them for.
    Viva Klipsch and viva cheapaudioman
    These RPs move a lot of sound out. I don't think I'll go to the floor standing speakers just yet as I'm very happy with these.

    I ended up buying the reference 620F towers for $169 each open box. Weird thing is they are ported like the RP600M. I wonder if they sound similar to the R51M.
    I was worried I wouldn't like them but i couldn't pass them up at that price. First addition to my new home theater system. The highs to get a bit much at high volume but using the Denon AV receiver MultEQ does correct the issue. But after watching this video, I'm tempted to return them and go for RP series towers :(. Keep the videos coming. You are doing a great job on here.

    For many of us, the RP600M is going to be hard to do. I am looking to get a surround system so I have to "start" with lesser speakers like the R-51M, and use older components until, I can upgrade to the RP 600M for my listening ones, and transition the R-51M's to surround sound ones. It is brutally hard to know how to build a surround system on a tighter budget. Which amp will work but still be good for music? I would love to see a video, or a series of videos , where you build a surround system with great audio, but set a budget. Like one for $1500, one for $2500, and a higher end one for say $4000. Living in Vancouver where rent costs half your income, spending $900 on two RP 600M speakers is not an easy choice. Especially if you add on a sub, two more surrounds, and a decent AV Receiver. Not to mention a center channel.

    • @hitters07
      @hitters07 2 года назад

      Chances are that the cheaper speakers in this example will sound good even paired with whatever entry level Denon A/V receivers they have at best buy. Go with what your budget allows and have fun with that set up and learn about what you like and what areas you want improvements in. I personally own the r15ms which are very similar to the 51s in this video. I also own rf42 towers, and heresy ivs. The "lesser" speakers are powered by the best buy denons I mentioned and the heresys are powered by the Cambridge axr100. Every single system in my house makes me happy regardless of price and what reviewers think. Learn to love what you have, and never, ever buy brand new full price. Lightly used, big sales and open box items are your friends when it comes to audio.

    • @cheapaudioman
      @cheapaudioman  3 года назад +4

      It's interesting how little power people actually need. with a 96db speaker you'll get 96 db at 1 meter or about 3 feet which would be louder than anyone should actually listen to music. Often times the spec given for power are a single channel driven at ridiculously high levels of distortion. I'd say for those klipsch that 5 watts of power is all you'll ever need. Power requirements also vary widely with different frequency. Lower frequencies will require a much greater amount of power than higher ones. 50-50 watts is plenty.

But for the low price of 179 for the pair of R51M, they sound better than the other straight comparisons. Not only in specs looks better but also in price. The 600 is def not a straight comparison to the R51M, is more the RP500 and to me the R51M outperformed the RP500. The Klipsch Reference Series is a replacement for its Synergy Line. I bought the predecessor to the R-51M, the R-15M for $109/pr., and I'm very happy with them for how I use them, which is casually & occasionally, and not analytically with a ton of scrutiny. For the price I paid, the R-15m were very hard to beat (I lament the loss of those Harman eBay store sales where you could pick up a pair of Infinity Beta 20s for under $60 with a warranty & free shipping).
    That being said, I think I need a pair of RP-600M in my life.

      I agree whole heartily. You need a pair of 600M’s in your life. I’ve heard nothing but great things about the R-15ms. The 600’s are a very magical speaker.

      Yeah. I've noticed that. I reviewed both the RP600's and 400's and have been trying to find a good deal on the 500's. I'm sure they're awesome

      That's a good matchup. I'm actually breaking in a set of RB 62ii's and they're very good. I think I'll be doing a video on those two soon.

      Thank you for saying so. I wonder if the price difference is... well, justified. I am interested to hear what you would have to say about that implicitly or otherwise.
      BTW - your review of the Polk tsi 100's was super helpful to me. Height and positioning - mostly height is so important. They are super!
      Thanks-
      CM

      @@cmkilcullen8176 I’ll just say this and hopefully not ruin the review. If someone is looking for the RP600’s and doesn’t have the cash these are an excellent option and way better than anything in the current Reference line.

    I'm curious re: how the RP-500M would compare to the R-51M. Maybe more apples to pears? Or grapefruit to orange?
    I had a R-51M for a few weeks, but while it was great at low volumes, I couldn't bear with the sibilance.

    • @cheapaudioman

      Brian. I'm not a real big fan of the R-51M. The RP line is far and a way better as in 2-3X better. With that said I've never heard the RP500M but in my opinion I thought the Sony SSCS5 was really as good if not better than the R-51M

    This is what I call BS review, how can you compare a pair of speakers that has an integrated amplifier and Bluetooth with Separate speakers !!!

    • @cheapaudioman
      @cheapaudioman  3 года назад +6

      The R-51M is not powered. The R-51PM is powered with bluetooth. Different models. One has a power cord and the other one hooks up to an amplifier.
