    Great video and very helpful. The backbone now comes with the SP309 kit included.

      Good to hear, they should do this for all their backbone models

      They also now include an Allen Key as you described worked best. Great video, well done mate thanks for sharing.

    Awesome video mate. Thanks very much. Autobarn were trying to tell me they needed to drill into my roof and use rivets ffs! This has cleared that up and I will install myself. Cheers

    • @bordertouring3265

      Glad we could help. Better to do it yourself if that's what they are saying. Landcruisers are built for these type of installs so no need to drill into them.
      We have lots of install videos on our channel with lots more coming so hopefully we can help some more.

    Great video, mate. You mentioned that you wanted to attach your awning brackets underneath. Is it possible? I don't see where there's space.

    • @bordertouring3265

      Yep I fitted my awning from the top facing down. I used the rhino rack L bracket and also use the iron man quick removal attachment too. Message me on Facebook and I'll send some photos if you like. Just search Border Touring

    For those viewers with a Sahara or VX with a sunroof do these racks allow the sunroof to still be opened ?

    I noticed that you still have rubber mouldings in the roof ditch. Wouldn't water pool in those mounting areas they they can't run off the to the sides of the car when it rains?

    • @bordertouring3265
      @bordertouring3265  8 месяцев назад

      No pooling, it runs through and along the gutters. Still going strong

    I plan to install one of these but was going to use the feet instead of the backbone as I see it would be almost impossible to clean your roof with the backbone in place

    • @bordertouring3265
      @bordertouring3265  4 года назад

      Scott, not a bad idea. If you clean the roof from the top it's not too bad but the side is easier. The process is still the same however you might put the legs on the platform first then load it onto the roof. Just be careful of the clips in the roof. Good luck, any issues let us know

    Shouldn't you put silicon down the bolt holes to stop water ingress?

    • @bordertouring3265
      @bordertouring3265  4 года назад +2

      You can if you wish. The kit comes with some rubber stickies that seal the roof to the backbone. These have sealed our roof extremely well and there is no need to silicon everything up. I would however use silicon or purchase the rubber stickies if I was installing a second hand rack.

    Would it still fit inside the garage. Is this gonna be taller than the oem rack?

    • @bordertouring3265
      @bordertouring3265  3 года назад

      It is slightly higher than the OEM rails. With a 2 inch lift (OME BP-51) it fits in our 2.2m garage if that helps

    Can confirm that re setting the bolt eyelets in the roof if you knock them out is a complete and utter bloody nightmare to re seat. Be patient and careful fellas!!!

    The Chanel nuts Rhino Rack gives you is a disaster! I wish I would have known about the ones you used because after 4 hours of trying to set them in the rail, I gave up and took it to a shop. 🤦🏽‍♂️🤬

    • @bordertouring3265
      @bordertouring3265  4 года назад

      100% agree. No idea why they don't make it clear you need a different kit to mount it. It should come with the backbone

      SP-309 kit? Is that correct?

    • @bordertouring3265
      @bordertouring3265  4 года назад +1

      @@spalacios9058 you just need to get the SP-309 kit from a rhino rack dealer or franchise like ARB, Autobarn, Supercheap Auto etc. I couldn't find them online though.
      If you get stuck get the B222-BP T Bolt kit (20mm bolt 40mm plate) and some nyloc nuts, spring washers and washers. You will need 6 for the rack

    Read a comment that it is noisy, true?

    • @bordertouring3265
      @bordertouring3265  3 года назад +1

      The short answer is Yes. The 200 series stock is super quiet however add bullbar, snorkel, tyres and roof rack it gets loud.
      I plan to put a light bar or wind deflector to lower the noise. If you get annoyed by wind noise avoid this rack I'd say though.
