I have an older Kenmore side by side, I believe a 1999 model. I purchased it used several years ago. It is working great, trouble free for its age. It apparently was not equipped with a door dispenser courtesy light. Looking up under the dispenser I can see a socket with a cover grommet where the socket should be. Can a simple light socket be plugged into the harness above the dispenser controls behind the access panel and a bulb inserted for a working light? Any way to get part numbers for the socket and short wiring harness? I'm assuming the light comes on when any of the dispenser functions are accessed. Is this possible? I'd like to have a working light as it is hard to see in that recessed dispenser when it is being used. Thanks.

Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. Sounds like it’s already got the designed mold/cutout for an install to be an option.
For part numbers, we recommend inserting your refrigerator model # into:

Any & all parts will be shown. Also, contacting the manufacturer might be another option. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the walk through. It's too bad you didn't get into the thread side for your fridge. There seem to be a lot of available appliance bulb sizes including c7, c8, and the one you showed which was t4.

Thank you for making this video. Our refrigerator is going through the same issue. Would appreciate if you could please share the details of the bulb? Thank you!
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. We just purchased a standard appliance bulb from our local Lowe’s.

Fridaire water dispenser light
The Frigidaire setup is similar, but the access around the bulb is very limited. I dread changing that bulb!
Hi Michael, l saw on a previous reply you stayed you got that bulb at Lowe’s? I asked and they say they don’t carry it. Since you made this 2 years ago, could it have been discontinued?

Hi quick question. I replace the light bulb but it still don't work.
Can you help me on that?
Thanks for watching, any update? In this case, you will need to CAREFULLY pull the plastic square frame that secures onto the refrigerator and over the water/ice dispenser’s off.
Once cover panel is removed, you can then gain access to the inner bulb housing and wiring kit. Removing it and replacing it with a new kit should fix issue.

Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. What’s your update? Have you pinpointed what’s causing leak?
It’s very possible that your filter is not 100% fully inserted & secured. Keep us posted. Us fellow DIY’ers need to stick together!

Not dumb at all. Typically, you screw in a bulb clockwise. Since this receptacle is inverted, to unscrew the bulb you must turn it clockwise to remove the bulb. I would like to see him do this job on a Frigidaire, though, because the access around the bulb is very limited so it is difficult to get your fingers around the bulb.
