- Thought I post a video on the ice/water dispenser given there were so many questions about it. Also, I'll give a status update on my Samsung fridge. A few viewers have mentioned that the newer models still have that led light function but no led bulb anymore. This led bulb could be added.

I have a Samsung tech at my house right now because our light never turned on with our new version of this fridge, and he took off the selector module and there literally is NOT an LED in it! There's the hole for the LED just like you show in your video, but it's just got a plastic blank in it!
Luckily he brought the LED part, and he's installing it now. the board still has the plugs for the light and everything but it looks like they may have taken this light out of newer models of this fridge! We owned this exact same fridge in our old house, and bought a new one for our new house because we loved it so much and I could not figure out why the light wouldn't come on! :D

Thank you so much @Netman88 for this video, and thank you Mark for sharing your concern. This is the exact concern I have, my fridge is almost 5 months old and I see the light , but it has never lit up. We have unplugged and plugged in to reset and nothing. I have called Samsung and you sit on the phone for hours waiting and texting back and forth. Now I have to contact a repairman to get this small thing fixed on this fridge.
This should be recalled, and force Samsung to install the light to all the newer models without it. This is insane, the refrigerator comes with the connector for the led, but they company decides not to put the actual light on them. This is non sense. It is an almost $2k refrigerator, not a cheap one.
@markhunter3935 -- i just received this same fridge and realised NO LIGHT -- as you point out it has the cutout, the hole but no light -- could you share the part # that was used? since the harness and board are likely still in there i'll hack it myself to have the light working. Thanks

Thank you!! Purchased my Samsug refrigerator 2 months ago and figured it didn't have a water/ice dispenser light. Sure enough it is there, but not working. Have a service appointment with Samsung now.
I take that bottom shelf and put it sideways vertical in my sink and I use the hand sprayer down in between the parts to clean it. You might have to wet it and let is absorb the water if it’s too cruddy and keep spraying a few times till it’s soft enough to flush thru.
I've removed the drawers and glass shelf for cleaning. There are plastic slide tabs in the rear of the glass shelf (right and left side) they must be removed in order to lift the glass. Near the back wall of the refrigerator and I had to use my phone as a camera to find and see how to remove.

It’s close to 2 1/2 years since we have our Samsung refrigerator. 3 nights ago I discovered it had a light by the water/ice dispenser because it came on but won’t shut off. Now water is collecting on the base even when not in use.
Probably that dispenser is not working right.
If your light is staying on all the time, the fix is to press and hold the crushed ice button..
Thanks for letting me know that there is a light. From day one the light has never come on. We had this Samsung in Washington State, it was a bigger one, this one that we have now is counter depth. I took a picture and there is a light there, it just does not light up. Now I know thanks to you there is a light. I guess that means calling Samsung.

Hi, probably not related to the video, but has it ever happened to you that the ice dispenser stopped working? We changed the filter two days ago and on the following day we suddenly couldn’t get ice and it just makes a loud sound. What’s interesting is that the water dispenser works fine…
Sounds like the ice maybe lodged at an odd angle and can't get out. You can probably open the ice drawer and take a look.
In my case it is the blue indicator led that doesn't work in the water position. The other 2 work.
Is there a video on how to remove and clean the ice dispenser of this model? I can see mold in there but i can't remove it after unscrewing.
That’s more involved, likely an appliance technician can help
Do you have a video for the ice maker not making ice
Check the water line if there’s water and if the ice maker is clogged. Open the ice drawer to check.
I just hooked up my Fridge Water/Ice Line. I dont have a Light That comes on When i try to get water....Right now its not working just bought it in April and finally got it hooked up.The problem now is Wont make ice or Water.....I had Cosmetic Damage they had to replace a Tiny part on the fridge (Where you push buttons) Trim had a piece peeled plastic off. I dont know if Repair had to turn the Water Light on? Some say my model dont have Water light....I have a Tech coming out sometime via Samsung same guy.
I found from a few viewers that the led light can be installed. Samsung cost cutting omitted it I guess.
@@netman88 Incredible that you pay around $2K for a brand new refrigerator and no dispensing light. This should be a motivation for a recall. This is not right. Mine is the same, no light ever comes on.
Have you had any problems with your ice maker yet? Mine works and then doesn’t 🙄 Love the fridge but very upset about the ice maker. 😞
I haven't had any issues that I'm aware of concerning the ice maker, just our light doesn't come on when getting water or ice...
No issues with ice maker thus far.
How do you fix the dispenser lights? The three blue lights for water, ice and crushed ice. How do you fix them?
Probably have to change the whole dispenser module.
Probably want an appliance technician to look to be sure. Unable to diagnose over internet

I have the exact refrigerator as you. I didn't even know it had a light there, the light has never turn on. Is there something I need to do to turn it on?
Some newer models no longer have this light installed.
@@netman88 This is not right. Non sense, but sucks if Samsung really did this. Expensive refrigerator with the connection for the light, it is visible, but no light inside. Wow speechless.
just had the same fridge installed, same thing .. seems to have the cutout, and crystal but NO LIGHT -- i'll hack the damn thing in myself ... if i can get the part number
Yup this exact thing happens to my fridge (1 month old) and no light. I looked in there and only see the plastic backing, no light at all.
Wow I bought this updated fridge about 2wks ago and our light dosen't come on when the cup is pressed against the switch...
Probably that component is not working. Need to call Samsung about getting it fixed.
The LED light on my Samsung won't turn OFF. Is there a way a turn it OFF? I think it may have to do with the ice maker. The ice maker all of a sudden stopped working yesterday and today the LED light where the water dispenser is located won't turn OFF.
Maybe see if you can unplug the fridge and plug it back in after 2 minutes to see if it reset. If not, it's best to call an appliance technician since I can't see the problem on the internet.
It looks to me that I have exactly the same problem. Ice maker got frosted about a week ago and stopped working. A few days later the light located near the water dispenser do not turn off anymore. Any recommendations/ suggestions? Thank you very much
My new Samsung Fridge light doesn't work.
I’m hearing some models does have the light now. Just check your fridge. Another viewer mentioned you can add the bulb.
@@netman88 Yeah, I don't have a light. It's just a circle for a light but not installed.

I just came across this video because I have been frustrated that my fridge did not have a functioning light at the dispenser. I have model RF28R7201SR/AA. I removed the dispenser module and found a blank plug instead of an LED light. There is a 3 terminal outlet on the circuit board just above the blank.
My question is has anyone been able to add a light to this model? I spoke with someone at Samsung and and she said, no because there is no switch in the assembly to activate the light. I’m hoping there is a way….
Probably a appliance technician can help. A viewer posted a technician was able to get the bulb and parts to get it working.

@@marcxx131 were you able to find and add the led? I just had a technician come and basically said there is no light in there and there is no switch. He brought over the replacement dispenser cover and I see there was no place for led inside, just the cutout

Depends on the model. Some newer model no longer has the night light.
How do the ice maker light stay on
That lever against the water dispenser will contact and the light should come ON if equipped with a light.
There is a way to completely remove that glass and clean it properly. The fundamental question is: Do you really want to? :-)

Can you add a light.....I freaking hate mine doesn't have one.... I bought it for the television screen on the right side. Didn't even look to see if it had a white on the water of the despencer. So can you simply add one by buying the Parts
Probably can but need appliance tech to get part number. Someone posted that it was possible and did that.
I have 4-door Samsung and a couple of days ago the water dispenser lights didn’t turn off. They stay permanently on. Is there anybody knows how to get it back to normal? Thank you 😊
Maybe try to unplug power to the fridge and wait 5 minutes and plug power back in.
@@netman88 thank you for quick response. I actually tried to turn off the power twice for 2-4 minutes with no result. Any other idea maybe? Thank you in advance.
@@netman88 , thank you for your response. Actually the solution happens to be very simple- need to push “cubed ice” bottom for 3 seconds. ☝️😉. By the way, the manual that comes with the fridge is horrible.

I’m learning from the comments that not all models have this led light. Cost cutting by Samsung I guess.

How to turn off water light in summing refrigerator water dispenser which stays on?
It should go off automatically if you are not dispensing water. If not, you'll need to get an appliance repair to help.
Hold the crushed ice button in for 3 sec. and the light will only come on when a glass is against the dispenser switch. Hold the crushed ice button in again for 3 sec and the light will stay on all the time as a night light.
My fridge water dispenser light won't turn it off i don't know what happen. It use to turn on and off.
Maybe unplug fridge for 15 minutes and pull back in to reset.
@netman88 I did it already twice for more than 15 minutes and the light still on.🥲
What causes the water light to stay on ?

@@Rick-tb4so thanks, thanks, thanks million my friend. After tearing google apart, finally found your solution and worked. I guess this is one of those issues that hard describe, hence hard to find a solution. It was killing me ,to figure out why it's suddenly staying On all the time!

I know it has a light for the water/ice dispenser. That's one of the reasons I chose this one. What I want to know is what to do if the light doesn't work.
I'm finding not all models have this light. I guess it was a cost cutting decision by Samsung if they removed it.

Well we called the Samsung repair man, and he came. It is about the light by the water dispenser that has never come on. Model # RF24R7201SR/AA Something about when this was made they did not connect the light, it is there, but repairman said it will never work. Some models won't work. Not happy with Samsung. Why put a light somewhere and then not connect it so that it will come on!!! 😠😡
That’s not good. Our fridge light works when we purchased many years ago.
Brand new and I see the light there, but I. Our description, it didn’t state it had a light. Found this video while searching a way to add a light. That was the only draw back on me buying the fridge.
Samsung loosing its reputation badly recent years. The design is attractive, but inside is horrible quality machine. Their fridges should cost 3-4 times cheaper.
