You're welcome... Im glad you enjoyed it! ☺ You need to seal the canvas with gesso or Powertex Ivory or white... then yes you could use acrylic (light colours) before transferring the image - the colour will come through where the photo is white 😜🎨
@Mike Page: it can be done using either type of printer, but laser printing is generally thought to be best. I have done this process using the Inkjet printer. However the printed image required more care using this process.
Thanks Im glad you enjoyed it ☺ No... its not great for printing on T-shirts as the material is really stretchy... Silk screen prints are far superior... however you could do it on the back of a light coloured jacket 😜🎨🎨🎨
Thanks a lot for the tutorial!!! I have a question. Can I apply a photo to the canvas with texture paste or plaster, or with acrylic paint. Or does the canvas have to be absolutely clean? Thank you.
Hey there... you can certainly experiment! I find it doesn't transfer as well to textured surfaces however you can overlay the image over light coloured surfaces e.g. black & white - where the image is white there is no ink so the acrylic painted layer will come through creating a ghost image
Thank you so much for this video, incredibly interesting and enlightening. One question: can I transfer onto some other surface, say for example Ampersand Claybord? I'm gonna buy this stuff immediately!!! And subscribed!
Hey thanks... Im glad you enjoyed it... I havent tried it on Ampersand Claybord... I would test it on a small surface... Ampersand is quite absorbent so you'd have to work quickly... get used to the process on something guaranteed to give you good results ... I usually get people to do their first one (A5)on a small piece of aluminium off cut from the printers discarded signs - its less absorbent so you dont have to work as quickly... you just have to take care removing the paper backing as the surface is slippery - I hope thats helpful... enjoy! 😜

Everything went well, until after the 10 minutes of heating with the hair dryer/box, I wet the canvas with the damp dry cloth and started the finger rub to start removing the paper - but only to see I was also rubbing out the image. Should I have waited longer for it to dry or was I rubbing the paper too hard? Thank you!
Hey Joe it sounds like you used an inkjet print... the print needs to be a laser print (pigment based) usually a colour photocopy at the print shops is a laser print... Because the inkjet is waterbed it will wash away and become like a watercolour... 😜 let me know how you go....
Joe ... if the image is coming off the canvas and you used a laser print (so it hasn't transferred) it can be: 1. the surface of the canvas wasn't prepared properly (primed with gesso) 2. the solution dried while you were doing the transfer process (working faster will resolve this)... I hope that helps... 😜 Have FUN!!!!🎨🎨🎨
Hey... Thanks... Im glad you enjoyed it! ☺️ Just use regular photocopy paper 80-100GSM and an open weave cloth (like "Chux" wipe in Australia)... if the paper is tearing and the print isn't transferring the medium may be drying before you've transferred it to the new surface... you need to ensure you have enough medium and that you work quickly to ensure it doesn't dry during the process. Please dont hesitate to ask me anything else if this isn't clear 😜🎨
@Noah G. First it is important to use a good quality paper to print your image on. Next, there are Two reason why the paper will tear. One) insufficient moisture or too much. The paper needs just enough to damp the surface and wait a minute or two to allow absorption. You will be able to see some of the image showing through the back of the photo image. If the moisture is damped enough. Two) rubbing gently and lightly to remove the backing paper while still moist. Dampen again if drying to quickly. Start running from the centre and work gently towards the edges making sure that the pressure you apply is minimal. This should help you achieve a good result and not tear the image. Remember to be gentle.
Hey Christy... thanks 😜 I think the watercolour would run... you could try sealing it with a water-based medium before doing the process ... it would just be a case of experimenting... could be interesting!!!
@@christyprice6942 I haven't tried it with watercolour but Im sure it would work... don't seal it with Easycoat Glossy... try Easycoat matt & without sealing 😜 sounds like FUN!!!
@@powertexaustralia9230 that would be awesome! I haven’t bought the materials to do this yet but I have an idea for a piece and the photo transfer would make it much easier than trying to recreate the scene. If you try it please video it and share, if it works. Thanks!!
Thank you for the demonstration. Going to try my first one this coming weekend. Do you have any suggestions for a big canvas and image besides, be quick!
Awesome... enjoy! For a big canvas / artwork you could print a jigsaw image of A4 prints and transfer ... I've always thought this could be interesting... i.e. you could enlarge an image to over a meter if you wanted and jigsaw the A4 parts together... alternatively you can transfer up to A3 and then extend /add mixed media ☺
That's really interesting, thank you. I have a few questions: Does the image transfer happen because the ink from your photo is deposited, or does the powerprint product somehow duplicate it? Can the transfer happen onto any surface, or does it need to be canvas? Once an image is transferred, can I transfer more images on top so as to superimpose images? Thanks.
Yes the transfer works because the ink form the laser print is deposited on the new surface... yes you can transfer to many different surfaces...and yes you can superimpose images!!! Lots of possibilities... FUN FUN FUN!!! Im sure you'll love it! You'll find details of the products in the description...

I was trying to hear / understand what you said you pour into the canvas?
Sounded like Pow Print Transfer?
Nice video. The music was fine. Does this work with photo quality paper or just regular paper?
Hey... thanks! You need to use regular paper... max 100gsm otherwise the process doesn't work😜
@@powertexaustralia9230 Thank you
Very interesting, thank you for the video
Youre welcome ☺ Im glad you enjoyed it!
That was really awesome I want to try that out. Thank you I really enjoyed and learned something. ☝🏽❤️🙏🏽
Excellent Im glad you enjoyed it ☺🎨Thanks for your feedback 😜
Awesome, but what’s with the faces on the mountains ?
Hey Jim... Im glad you enjoyed it! Are there faces in the mountains... Ill have to have a look :) 🤣🤣🤣
This is amazing! Could this be done on a canvas with dried watercolor paint behind it or would the watercolor run?
Hey Christy... thanks 😜 I think the watercolour would run... you could try sealing it with a water-based medium before doing the process ... it would just be a case of experimenting... could be interesting!!!
@@powertexaustralia9230 could I use watercolor over it?
@@christyprice6942 I haven't tried it with watercolour but Im sure it would work... don't seal it with Easycoat Glossy... try Easycoat matt & without sealing 😜 sounds like FUN!!!
@@christyprice6942 I can try it if you like 😜🎨🎨🎨
@@powertexaustralia9230 that would be awesome!
Thank you!
That's really interesting, thank you. I have a few questions:
Does the image transfer happen because the ink from your photo is deposited, or does the powerprint product somehow duplicate it?
Can the transfer happen onto any surface, or does it need to be canvas?
Once an image is transferred, can I transfer more images on top so as to superimpose images?
Thanks.
Yes the transfer works because the ink form the laser print is deposited on the new surface... yes you can transfer to many different surfaces...and yes you can superimpose images!!! Lots of possibilities... FUN FUN FUN!!! Im sure you'll love it! You'll find details of the products in the description...
@@powertexaustralia9230 Thank you
@@simongross3122 you're welcome
What is the material you glued the photo to the canvas, and where I could buy it from with many thank. It is great technique
Thanks I’m glad you enjoyed it! 😊the medium is Powerprint… within Australia you can purchase from Powertex Australia… you will find more details in the description😊
Hello Thanks for this nice video. Is it a laser or inktjet copy that I have to use to do this proces. Txs in advance.
You’re welcome… ☺️I’m glad you enjoyed it… you’ll need a laser print
@@powertexaustralia9230 thank you so much
The photo just should be black and white or this method could use for colourful image? Please explain about paper too
The photo needs to be a laser print onto regular photocopy paper 80-100GSM... it can be colour or black and white - whatever you prefer... colour photocopies from the print shop are usually laser prints... I hope that helps ☺ Enjoy creating!
This is really cool. Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for this video ! Just one thing, I didn’t understand how to heat it, we didn’t see properly your process! Thank you
Simply heat set with a hairdryer for 10 mins… alternatively you can use an iron 😝
Not enough expianatuon about this. What kind of paper for the print? What kind of cream she used on the print.? The box with the dryer ?
Thanks for your feedback... The paper is 80-100GSM (regular copy paper for the laser print). Powerprint is the medium from Powertex Art Supplies. You will find more information in the description... I hope that helps... arty regards
Ashley ☺
Excellent tutorial. Thank you! Could I use a poster onto untreated canvas?
Thank you ☺I think a poster would be too thick for the transfer process... I recommend starting small to get used to the process (A5) and experiment with layering and/or jigsawing images together from A4... have FUN!
Hello! I scrolled through but couldn’t find this question: Will this work with something other than canvas? Like a thick cotton fabric? Kind of like the stuff that outdoor pillows are made of? Thanks!
Hey Maria… yes absolutely! I have an older video on the channel that will help you: ruclips.net/video/vOCw6pZJ3vA/видео.html 😝Please let me know if you have any other questions 🎨🎨🎨enjoy creating
Great idea. The background music didn't bother me at all.
Thank you ... I might give it a go!
Excellent... enjoy ☺🎨🎨
Can you use modge podge
Hey Coral... I haven't used Lodge Lodge... I use Powerprint photo transfer medium and Easycoat Glossy both from Powertex Art Supplies for my transfers
Your tutorial was excellent, but The music is really loud, and some people get annoyed with people saying this to you in a respectful way, as if it were an insult, and it has nothing to do with it, good for them that the music so loud doesn’t bothers them, but they should have compassion for those who don't have ears of excellence like theirs, anyway the quietest music will please 100%, simple as that. Thank you very much for the tutorial ❤
Hey Helon... I appreciate the feedback from everyone who has taken the time... its really valuable!☺ There's not a lot I can do to adjust the sound but I will definitely take it on board for future uploads... hopefully you'll find the sound balance is better on other videos on the channel ☺ enjoy creating 🎨🎨🎨
@@powertexaustralia9230 Hi I too hate music over dialog but I didn't find too loud. However I think that instead of music how about some bird song in the background instead of music? Just a thought. All the best
@@psocretes8183 Hey thanks for your feedback... nice idea ☺😜🎨🎨 enjoy creating 🎨🎨🎨
Could a picture be painted over once it is transferred onto canvas? I've never tried this but I'm interested. I am a mixed medium artist (acrylic) and wonder if it would work before being sealed.
Yes absolutely... Super FUN!!!!! 😜🎨🎨🎨
What type of printer did you use for the photo? Laser? Inkjet?
Hey Lesley... a laser print is needed... you can go to your local print store and get colour photocopies on max 100gsm paper... I hope that helps
Hello, I really enjoyed your video! Do you know if I can, do a photo transfer with Dura-Lar Matte Film paper?
Hey Ale… thankyou … I’m glad you enjoyed it ❤️I’m not familiar with the brand of photo paper but generally photo paper is too thick… it needs to be copy paper 80-100GSM 😊🌸I hope that helps …
So I'm doing the box methed but its getting really really hot I've got it on low heat...
It only needs 10 mins... it will get hot... keep an eye on it ... allow to cool before proceeding with the rest of the process ☺
can the original be a laser print or does it have to be an inkjet print?
Thank you im going to try it
excellent! Enjoy ☺🎨🎨🎨
Great video!!
Thank you Im glad you enjoyed it 😜
What kind of paper did you print image on? copy paper? or photo paper?

Its called Powerprint Photo Transfer Media from Powertex Art Supplies ☺🎨🎨🎨
Is the Powertex an adhesive of some type?
I have a question please.... but when you use your paste, or whatever it is you use to adhere to the canvas. Can you use Decoupage paste?
Hey Elena I use Powerprint Photo transfer from Powertex Art Supplies... all the details are I the description... I haven't used decoupage glue to do a photo transfer... you can try it - nothing ventured nothing gained 😜 I LOVE the results I get with the Powerprint 🎨 I hope that helps
What was use to paint quickly over photo and also on the outline on the canvas?
That was the Powerprint Photo Transfer Medium from Powertex Art Supplies... available worldwide... you can find the supplier details in the description ☺🎨🎨🎨
Is there something more you can do with this? Before you add the gloss can you paint more on it with acrylic?
ABSOLUTELY!!! There are so many possibilities... YES you can paint on it... experiment and play with mixed media and layers of photos... Read the description for more information... I have an online course Photo Transfers & Mixed Media that guides you through two complete paintings... if you purchase it any future content I make will be available to you at no extra cost 😜
This technique can works in clothes too?
Not really... its more an art process ... screen printing would be a better method for clothes
