The Harley shop charges 8 hrs installed. Helped my buddy ( not mechanics ) it’s not rocket science but really watch and listen to everyone that does diy helps a lot.
I completely agree. I lost track of how many walk through videos I watched before I gave this a whirl. Definitely a little time consuming but not anything difficult. Very glad I saved the money and did it myself.
This is a job for the guy who has the skill set and the willingness to save a buck, not no dumbass! You got the job done, and you kicked some ass..... don't be so hsrd on yourself... I'm now motivated to put those 12's on my 21 SGS...Kudos to you!
I appreciate that Omax. But I'll always feel like a dumb ass no matter how the job turns out, lol. Super glad to hear that you're gonna give it a shot, I'd love to see how your bars turn out!
Watching you and others switch the bars out is helping me build up the courage to attempt this myself lol it’s always looked so complicated and I’ve always been scared to attempt it but I think I’ll order me some of those and give it a go
I'm glad to hear it encouraged you to give it a shot! I found the thought of the swap to be more intimidating than the reality. Take your time and some pictures if you're nervous and it'll work out pretty easy, just a little time-consuming. I'd love to see your before and after though 👍
If you get the meat hooks. Just note the instructions they send you. And when pulling the throttle twist cable , i strongly suggest you de pin the plugs. Helps with coming around the 90 degree.
ur good on the grips brother, HD grips are kinda cheap. I run the empire collection heated grips on mine and i have that same plastic sounding slop throttle side.
Glad to know it wasn't just me. I was thinking maybe I just did something wrong. But I agree about them being kinda cheap. The slop is way worse on my Fatboy with the Kahuna grips. Don't think I'll be buying anymore Harley grips in the future.
@@Buffalo509 I had the hardest time tracking down a set of heated grips that weren't HD that still looked good. If you find an aftermarket set thats nice maybe post a vid, i'd love to see if there's stuff out there im overlooking or just not finding.
@@cali5ive124 I've not considered heated grips yet but now that's cold here I just might have to. Those bars are pre-wired for it so doing a swap might be fairly easy. I'll do some digging and see what turns up.
The bars came with a steel cable preinstalled. I used electrical tape to attach the TGS to the cable and WD40 to lube everything up. It wasn't especially difficult but it was easy either. Take your time and use the push/pull method on the TGS and you'll be ok. If you can de-pin the TGS ahead of time, it will make the whole process even easier.

Good stuff man! The bike is really looking great, can't wait to see what else you got in store
Thanks! Stay tuned, once the springer is done there should be more goodies for the SG

Do the bars block the stock mirrors? I was hoping to not add aftermarket mirrors with the 10" dominators
Unfortunately, they did block the original mirrors so I had little option but to go aftermarket

How was the accelerator cable installed? Was it hard to pull in?
