1.) Body and arm positioning due to your handlebars when riding.
2.) How to properly choose the right height aftermarket handlebars.
3.) What size handlebars fit what year Harley-Davidson's while keeping stock cables.
This is the best video that I ever seen talking about HD handlebars. Straight to the point and no bla bla bla. Thanks for sharing this kind of content.
I totally agree. Best explanation I’ve seen so far
Thank you for a simple explanation that us average joes can relate too.
Everybody Told Me That I Need 16" Bars On My Road Glide... And I Told Them That I Feel Great With 12'S ... You Just Validated The Point I Tried To Make To Them... Thanks.🙏🏾
One of the best explanation's of bars. Thanks for this.
Thank you for finally giving an exact answer to the question of height vs use of stock cables
Finally, an explanation that makes sense. Thanks.
Thanks for posting refreshing Steve men talk who knows what he's doing
07 road king. Just mounted 14 inch because i felt the stock ones were killing my back on long rides. I Pre-wired/Lengthened allnof the wires and ordered my new brake lines myself...... and new throttle cables on an 07.
It you do a clutch cable, remember that you need the side gasket and transmission oil.
You also need dot 4 brake fluid and a bleeding pump.. I was able to just loosen my header pipes to get clearance to get the clutch cover off. Took about 4 to 6 hours total with the wiring and I'm an experienced electrical controls tech.
Sir, you are right on the money, and thank you for clarifying all these bar setup confusion n such...
You are awesome at this. Best explanation on RUclips after research. Nice job and thank you
That was perfect, no one has ever explained it that way.
Just come from a Heritage classic (with mini ape bars) to a Fatboy. The bars are noticeably lower and after a year, still feel myself straight armed and reaching for the grips - despite six foot, so planning on taller risers. Great analytical info.
best video on bars and all my questions answered.
thanks
Simple, fast and easy and not to mention he didn’t have a 2 minute intro like most do on RUclips, it’s a freaking video not a TV show
Simple and perfect video! Thanks!!!
Thanks for the video Mike !
Best video yet nice job explaining
Just put 12s on my 2014
Street Glide & I’m
6 2”
& there fine
great review mike
You made my decision
A lot easier 👍
Did I try the 14s before u went with the 12s? I’m on the fence between the 12 and 14. I’m 511
Thank you sir great help I'm 5'5 with a 12 inch la chopper's twin peaks on a 2016 limited low
GREAT EXPLANATION!!!
Big mike thanks for the video
I have seen this one 3 or 4 times and as result went with 10 inch bars
Thank you
Hey there, does the 10” allow your elbow to bend compare to the stock handlebar?
nope! nice and comfy. I am 5-11 and no more pain in the middle of my back, then come up to almost shoulder level.@@danpintal1215
I like stock bar because I like the way the side mirrors look on the fairing and keeps my hands out of the cold. That’s my opinion.
Now if I could just find a good way to compare bars online. In this not for a Harley but I liked your explanation about fitting.
Pretty impressed how he does a 1-finger full brake lever pull @ 1:13
I've only just been thinking about changing the stock bars on my '11 street glide to 12" but have been told that I'd have to change all my cables, so thanks for clarifying that at least I can go 10" without. We have problems with height in bars where I live (Sth. Australia.... a real nanny state) and I just don't see the need to give the Government any monies in fines that I don't need to. I love my 16s on my 09 RK, but it seems I might have to change them back down too! Great video, thanks. Cheers from OZ 🇦🇺😉👍
That’s why I like you Mike
Damn good explanation dude.
6'3" here just put on 12" Dominator Meat Hooks on my 2018 FLTRU, waas able to keep stock cables. O f course we have snow here and haven't ridden yet but I know they will make a big difference
Very well explained 👍👍👍👍
VERY good info
Great Video! On the 2014 up you were last sitting on, what is the height and manufacturer of the bars on that particular bike? I have a 2021 FLHX and want as set about that height. Thanks.
Well done
Helpful video. I went to your web site to check out handlebars, but you don’t have a link for parts.
thanks for that. Im just setting up a first HD and I *loathe* tall bars. especially on a bagger. and I hate that sharp 90 degree angle that is so popular at the moment. Its actually difficult to find batwing compatible bars that arent either of those things AND have the "fairing bend" which would help a lot with my well over six foot size
I have the LA Choppers Twin Peaks 10" on my Street Glide. They have the perfect bend against the fairing. They also don't hit the fairing, don't require new cables, and don't require any changes/modifications. My hands are still protected by the fairing with the bar height I chose. Needed new mirrors though. I found them by going to multiple HD stores until I found a bike with the perfect bars for me on a bike they were selling, and so I ordered them. I get lots of compliments on them even though I wasn't going for a look, just comfort.
And the difference of handling the bike with taller bars was like night and day for me. It made the ride easier and comfortable for me now.
Great video.... what size are the bars(Prime 8 black) in the video? How tall are you? Trying to decide between 12's and 14s
When changing to wider/higher handlebars, do you recommend upgrading anything else like maybe bushings?
On the video, what the model name of the Handlebar? Compare to my stock 2019 Street Glide CVO handlebar, would those Handlebars allow my elbow to bend more that the stock one? Great vid! Thanks. Dan
Does that 10”-12” for 13 and down and 14 and newer apply to sportsters too?
So I have a serious question I went with 10s on my o7 street glide an it’s seems like I need ah new clutch cable an extended brake lines in the front that goes into the master cylinder
On a 2016 street glide special what I be able to use stock wires to put 14 inch meat hanger?
I am looking for new bars I am 5 foot 5 inches, I love these ape bars but I have a concern if I will be comfortable and able to control my street glide special
Great video! I have a 2022 Street glide special and the stock bars are causing lower back pain. They seem lower and further away than my 2020 Road King Standard’s stock bars which fit me PERFECTLY. Any recommendations for bars that have a straighter hand position, and will allow me to sit more upright?
John, did you find a solution? I am having the same issues.
What about a 08 xl1200n can I run 10” bars on stock cables? Would I be able to mount the street bob bars without cables?
Awesome job explaining that! Just got a 27RG this is first thing I’m doing! Should I get pre wired are meathooks all the same or are big name bars better quality?
I got KST and love them you can move them forward and back and in and out if you need too great company
So on my 2003 electra glide I just bought 12inch mini apes. You're saying all cables need to be extended? Or just a +4 clutch cable is needed?
I have a 2018 electra glide with 12” bars…..can i go with 14” without changing cables?
If you turned full lock, I could tell if these are exactly
what I have or not.
I need about 1.5 taller/back than what I have now,
like I say I believe they are stock, but not sure (2009 Ultra).
So if I understood correctly, on my 2022 FatBoy I can easily mount 12’’ without replacing any cable?
Which bars are those black ones and what zise they are??? Any link where to buy those exact ones???? Thanks
2016 superlow 883 can run stock wires on a 12" handle ?
How about just pushing the stock bars forward? Would this change give you the setup one is looking for?
The only thing I don't like about the position is my hands are above the fairing. I get alot of wind and bugs up my sleeves. So I have wear gauntlet style gloves.
I have a 2011 road glide can I go 14s with stock cables or is 12s the highest with stock cable's
I have a 2010 fatboy lo. Safe to run 10in rise on stock cables?
I was hoping this video was, if you could tell me why so many Harley handlebars are not straight and how to fix it.
Do you have those bars for a 2014 softail slim?
I have a 2012 RG and i put 14 inch bars on. I’m 6-5. Best thing i did for comfort. Stock bars were killing my neck and back!
Did you need to extend cables,
Or were you able to adjust by cutting zip ties & rerouting them???
I own 2012 RG as well. Just bought 14s and new grips. Can’t wait to have installed. 😎👍
@@jmgeidner had to get extended cables.
Ty
What’s the specs on them handlebars on the second bike that’s what I need
Whats the rise on those handlebars
I run the la chopper's twin peaks 1.5 12 inch
Where is this ? Like them bars and price
Would be great if you could send a set of those bars to me in the UK 🇬🇧
Go to dominator bars. They do fully prewired 💯 plug and play.. 499 but you can do them yourself in an hour or less
Thank you. I have a 2019 Road King, so 10" - 12" is ok without changing the cables? Double checking..
do you still have them for 299
Are you 100% sure you can go 12 on the 2014 using factory wiring? I was told u can’t go over 10 and this is on a 2014 ultra limited with heated grips
Yes but you need to re route the break cable to get the extra 4 in of play.
Hey guys , What size bars were on the video that Mike was doing ?
12
I have a 21 Street Glide. How much for the 12 inchers?
eBay is your friend
Still running this special?
How tall are you??
Proper bars make it a lot easier on your back too.
Cut & Dry 👌🏽
What song is playing in the backround?
Big Mike I tried calling 3 different times no one answered in parts and no one called back. Your CS in parts needs to refinement. Don’t say call if no one else doesn’t care
“13 down, you can go up to 10s”
me, who just ordered 12” straight t-bars for my 04 Deuce and no cables because burly didnt have a 12” kit: 😬
Shit, I hope that's true for a 21 SG.
I need at least a 10 or 12 for my back
Is that at 10 or 12 in bar you need to be more specific sound like a politician
Great video and explanation of the differences and the reasons behind getting a better set of bars! If you have to go into some BS explaining and begging to your wife about wanting to get bars, man I feel sorry for you! A grown man should not have to ask for permission to do anything, don’t be a little bitch! It’s ridiculous to me how many “men” are controlled by their woman…sad!
i have 1 ? HOW TALL ARE YOU . the first thing you have to consider
wider bars? maybe. The rest of this stuff about elbows up, wrist angle, sounds like horse$hit to me. If what you're saying is true, then why doesn't HD put the most ergonomically comfortable bars on right from factory? I would contend that for the average rider that's exactly what they do.
I have 12” bars on my 2018 electra glide can I go to 14” without changing cables?
