  • In this video I demonstrate how I install 12 inch handlebars on 2014 and up street glides! This is all you will need to do to put a set of 12s on your bike. The process is practically the same with taller bars except on taller bars, you will need to change the clutch cable, brake lines, and extend your wires. However this process and the tips you will see in this video will allow you to have a better understanding of how to do the job yourself!

    • @KevinSornig
      @KevinSornig  6 месяцев назад +2

      Glad I could help! The extension can be found on namzcustomcycleproducts.com/product-category/namz-wiring-products/plug-n-play-harnesses/complete-bike-harnesses/ that’s where I get all my wiring from, it’s a section of wires with a male and female connector, you plug it into the wires on the bars and then into the bike. I like to wait till the wires are through the bars to do it so you’re not adding more resistance when you go to pull the wires through.

      No problem glad I could help! I remove the ignition switch to make it easier on myself. I’ve seen people do it without removing the ignition switch, but it can be a hassle when putting the fairing back on. If you don’t remove it and the trim piece below it you’ll have to lift the fairing over it.

    So I just did this myself yesterday and put everything back together went to start the bike but would not start is there something I need to do. I put 10" dominators pre wired on only had to transfer my throttle by wire. Please help😬.

    • @KevinSornig
      @KevinSornig  2 месяца назад +1

      First I would start with checking your fuses. If all that appears to be in order, check your ignition switch in front of the gas tank. Sometimes the barrel can get turned if you remove the ignition like I showed, and you’re actually only putting the bike into accessory mode. If that is the case, the easiest way to do the ignition alignment is with an ignition alignment tool, I’ll post a link when I can. If the ignition switch is functioning correctly, and all the fuses are good, check to make sure you hooked up the wire harness to the proper side.

      Okay, so where I would go from here if you haven’t checked already would be for a loose or unplugged connector in the fairing. Also, I’ve seen once before with pre-wired bars, one of the wires on the handlebar harness went to the wrong spot if that makes sense

      Thought I heard on most Harleys (newer models) you can install 12” bars without any extra cabling. 14” is a different story.

    • @KevinSornig
      @KevinSornig  4 месяца назад +2

      @@guyh.4121 yeah, the only slight issue is the location of the female connectors under the radio, you have to re-position them. Which admittedly I didn’t show well in this video. I put a link to some short wire extensions in the description of the video, they’re not necessary but someone asked about them so I added it. The throttle by wire, clutch line, and brake lines don’t need to be changed for 12 inch bars. Hope this helps👍🏻
