FYI, some sales folks leave you alone if they see you recording your walkthrough out of respect to not interrupt your vlogging. As others have suggested, some dealerships have a policy to leave you alone until you ask for assistance so you don't feel pressured. The BEST approach is when the store genuinely acknowledges you with a warm greeting and lets you go about your business of looking without pressure while ensuring they are readily available when needed. Ive owned 3 Harleys and have visited quite a few dealerships on the East Coast. Most of them don't speak right away. The one who was most attentive had the worst business practices of them all. They were like a bad used car dealership - on you like a dog on a bone and finding ayway possible to jack up the prices for profit.

I can appreciate your video. I work at a Harley dealership. Been here 6 years, Previously worked in the auto industry for 25 years. During those 25 years I was taught
to be right up customers asses from the time they step foot on our property. To me that is bad business. Greeting a customer immediately is important. Drilling them
with questions and following them around the showroom sucks. Some people just want to look around and have the common sense to grab an employee when they
are ready to take the next step or ask a few questions. My point: You should have been greeted by someone as soon as you walked in the door. Like you said in another
comment, just a hello would be nice. But expecting an employee to bolt right towards you and have them expect you to want to talk to someone right away is not how most sales
consultants operate. Especially in a Harley dealership. It's just not a high pressure atmosphere.

Great video, you always provide great content.

I’m an old white guy. I’ve been in Harley Shops, Indian Dealers, Honda etc. I’ve gone in with cash and been ignored like you were. I’ve gone up to the sales person and asked if I could get a few questions answered. Most shops said yes but, I had to go find someone. I feel your irritation. Obviously they didn’t get a dime of my money. I hope they didn’t get a dime of yours. If I ever buy another bike I’m flying from Ca to Florida and buying from Burt’s Barracuda HD. They take care of their people. Thanks for posting. I liked the topic. I’m looking forward to watching your trip this summer.

I remember in the 90’s going into a high end Mountain bike shops & looking around & no one would say anything but I actually preferred it because I had done all my research & knew probably better then any staff any questions about what I was buying I just needed them to ring it up & tell me if it’s in stock. Little did they know I would have a pocket full of cash & by hundreds of dollars worth of gear & parts. One cashmere actually asked me where I worked. Interesting how people judge others by looks when I catch myself doing the same thing I’ll correct myself real quick. But in todays world things have drastically changed & more & more people are less social even when it’s there job to be. It’s just a different world now. It’s nice to see something positive though. Happy Trails!

Hey Kue! Glad to hear that you went to Niagara Falls Canada. I live about 100 miles from there. Just a note about Colorado highway 550. I did a trip on my Ultra in 2012 to the million dollar highway. MAKE SURE you’ve got fresh brakes and tires. There are hairpin switchbacks and some places have no guard rails with 900-1000 ft drops. Don’t worry it may sound really scary but millions of riders do it every year. Just make sure you are well rested and it ain’t raining. Riding through it on a big heavy Bagger is comfortable, but it ain’t no sport bike. Just saying that’s all. Google it on RUclips to see how other riders have it captured on video. Many blessings and enjoy! 😊🇨🇦

I know I am unique, but I am retired, 65, and really like old style Mom and Pop motorcycle shops. I love the people that ride Harley Davidsons, but I am not a "lifestyle" HD owner with my Sport Glide set up for lite touring, instead of a Road Glide or Street Glide. I'd just prefer to go look for someone to help me and ask for it, instead of expect it at a Dealership, since I'm usually just window shopping or picking up another HD T shirt to add to my collection. But as you say, you be you, and I'll be me. Don't be afraid to go up to an employee and ask for help. Saturdays and Sundays they have lots of workers in there, Tuesdays and Tuesday mornings, they are busy with meetings and restocking and refronting the store front from all the weekend sales. If you find something you like, pick it up, and start looking it over, then put it back on the shelves... do that a couple of times and they know you're looking, at least, for something you want to buy or need.

Just make sure you get a pass lined out for the road to the sun in glacier national. Found out the hard way how difficult it is to get a pass. You have to get that ironed out in advance. Unless you plan to ride it off hours (like I had to). BTW - it's good to see your channel growing. Keep up the good content, my friend.

Brother I feel for you, and I am a white 72 year old man. I owned HD bikes since my first one in 1965, a well used 58 Sportster. I mainly rode HD other than a couple of new Goldwing 1200 I bought in the mid 80's. My last HD was a new 99 Road King. No doubt, the worst bike I have ever owned. I owned the bike for 16 months, and it stayed in the shop for 7 of those 16 months getting one thing after another fixed. My last trip on the bike I was riding in the Trail of Tears from Cherokee, NC to Waterloo, AL and was in Waterloo for a week. Left Waterloo headed home and was on the Natchez Trace when I started to smell something burning, and I pulled over to see what was happening. The wiring harness was roasted. HD would not fix the harness under warranty, but they also didn't fix the last two brake downs under warranty. I was so pissed I actually got trespassed from the dealer. I told them to fix the bike, and sell it. Bought a used 99 Roadstar with 10k on the bike. I put 171k on that bike, and never had a problem with it. I also bought a 05 Roadstar, and rode the hell out of it never a problem. I now have a GL1500 that with a little maint will run for 250k+ so I'm set.

I really like your attitude. My daughter, who is Chinese, is starting university right now. I told her that one thing that seems to be part of the zeitgeist these days is to look for division, look for a reason to think you are being discriminated against.
I told her it is not a path to happiness, or good relationships, to be looking for every tiny sign, whether it is there or not, that someone thinks less of you because of your color or culture.
Im not saying it doesnt exist, only that looking for the bad in others, rather than the good, is an unhappy way to move through life.

It's like that whenever I go into a gun store. I have quite a few crazy stories I could share.
One time, I came into a store with the intent of purchasing a pretty rare revolver that the dealer acquired. I had the 1500. cash that he wanted for the gun, but I was absolutely ignored and disregarded from the moment I walked into the shop.
It's a shame because unbeknownst to the owner, I'm a collector who's willing to pay a premium for rare finds. Im also an avid shooter, and I likely would have spent thousands in his store had I been treated like everyone else. It was so bad that eventually a white guy that came into the store about an hour after me approached the owner and said "hey dude this man has been waiting patiently much longer than me, I think he's next in line."
No one from the store ever acknowledged me or offered assistance. It's a pretty common theme in my experience, especially in gun shops and stores that cater to outdoor enthusiasts.

When you enter the dealership in Maryville, you will be greeted at the door and talked to by sales people as you walk throughout the dealership. Two different business models. I’m pretty sure the interactive dealership probably makes more sales.

I am a 60 year old white male and I have been riding since 1972. I have noticed the customer service every year since then has dropped off to nothing or close to it. I live in the Washington D.C metro area and there were four dealers. Every time I have ridden to those dealers on my Electra Glide Ultra Classic to pick up something usually from the parts department I have spent time looking at the motorcycles in the showroom. I have done this many times to include the dealer where I bought my bike at and I can't remember a time when someone asked me, can I help you with something. I take care of myself and don't look like a bum when I go into places out in public. It's the same with car dealers. As well as many other places of business. The bottom line is the customer service sucks in the retail business. Many people don't have pride in the jobs they have. And that is reflected right back to the customer when it comes to service. It's only going to get worse before it gets any better.
