So glad my 20’s coincided with the 90’s. We did have it good from a music perspective. We just assumed it would stay that way but sadly we have todays music - if it can be called music.

Tonic, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Gin Blossoms, The Cranberries, and this band was my life soundtrack growing up. I remember when Good premiered on MTV made me a fan of this band. I purchased both Deluxe and Friction, Baby CD’s and wore out both albums. I was 12 years old when Deluxe was released. So many good memories. I wish I could go back to better times.

@@mrjesanchez It's about an acquaintance of the lead singer's dying of AIDS. This was back in the mid-90s, when life expectancy was much lower. "In the Blood" literally refers to the disease, and the questions, "Who'd you love before? Who'd they love before you?" Is about trying to trace who they got it from and who else they might have passed it on to.

    lyrics
How can you be so warm?
How can you know what I feel?
Well, it's the way you move your hands
And it's the way you understand
And that's the reason that I'm asking
    Hey-ee-yay-I
And that's the reason that I want to know
    Hey-ee-yay-I
And that's the reason that I'm asking
    Hey-ee-yay-I
And that's the reason that I'm
How can you throw away everything you live for?
Well it's the way we shake and sway
    Oh
And it's the passion that you play
And that's the reason that I'm asking
    Hey-ee-yay-I
And that's the reason that I want to know
    Hey-ee-yay-I
And that's the reason that I'm asking
    Hey-ee-yay-I
And that's the reason that I'm
    Too many lost
Links in a chain passed down through the years
But ending here if we just face the pain
    And the fear
    Who did you love before?
Who did they love before you?
But it's the way you move your hands
    Oh
And it's the way you understand
And that's the reason that I'm asking
    Hey-ee-yay-I
And that's the reason that I want to know
    Hey-ee-yay-I

This band is where I got my older son's name. Way before I even planned on having kids, I knew my first son would be named Ezra.

How can you be so warm?
How can you know what I feel?
Well, it's the way you move your hands
And it's the way you understand
And that's the reason that I'm asking
    Hey-ee-yay-I
And that's the reason that I want to know
    Hey-ee-yay-I
And that's the reason that I'm asking
    Hey-ee-yay-I
And that's the reason that I'm
How can you throw away everything you live for?
Well it's the way we shake and sway
    Oh
And it's the passion that you play
And that's the reason that I'm asking
    Hey-ee-yay-I
And that's the reason that I want to know
    Hey-ee-yay-I
And that's the reason that I'm asking
    Hey-ee-yay-I
And that's the reason that I'm
    Too many lost
Links in a chain passed down through the years
But ending here if we just face the pain
    And the fear
    Who did you love before?
Who did they love before you?
But it's the way you move your hands
    Oh
And it's the way you understand
And that's the reason that I'm asking
    Hey-ee-yay-I
And that's the reason that I want to know
    Hey-ee-yay-I
And that's the reason that I'm asking
    Hey-ee-yay-I
And that's the reason that I'm
La la la la la la la
La la la la la la la
La la la la la la la
La la la la la la la

2am in the morning and it's the same old pain and anguish going through vmy head about a girl that stole my heart 30 years ago and then lost to me and so close yet so far away from me right in this moment
I'll never stop believing R.A.H. that there is some way somehow in sometime we can be together again and you can learn what real love from a real man is
I got 30 years of it saved up for only you

I was in retrospect very lucky that my baby boomer parents forced their music on me, and my World War II grandparents forced their music on me. It gave me the opportunity to have a much wider variety of music available for me to put everything in perspective.
I have an extreme distaste for following along with anything that the mob is into. And by mob, I mean that in the classic sense used by Roman philosophers. The masses. The people at large. I don't want to be influenced by the emotional gaggle.
So, this song on review, isn't just holding up, it's probably one of the best alternative rock pop intros ever. The guitar work, the bass, the drums, all perfect. The timing of it, the level of thunder they put out, the matching of it to the lyrics, all of it perfect.
I would have to say that this song should be used as a prime example of how to start that kind of song. The song goes 0 to 200 mph right all at once. It's as if you're coming in on the middle of a longer song. The transitions, the hooks, the bridges, everything perfect.
If you're learning to play the guitar, the guitar work in this song is something you should aspire to. You may never get it just so perfect as they did, and most bands have one of those top of the mountain moments, where everything runs perfectly, and they do exactly what they wanted, but if you can do that, the way this song starts out and continues on without losing any fuel, that's where it's at.
If you paid attention to 60s and '70s rock, you can hear the lineage in this song. It is almost as if everything led perfectly to this.
    YMMV.
