@@jasperhunter8386 I've had a very unpopular suggestion for a long time now that Gaijin should add another nation/faction for "the rest of the world" with vehicles from countries like Brazil, Iran, India, Yugoslavia, Argentina, Czech Republic, etc that all had some of their own stuff but not enough to fill out their own tech trees - put it under a UN flag or something, and use it as a place to put stuff like this Mig, or the Iranian F-14 etc, that don't really "fit" very well geopolitically in the other trees. Nobody seems to like that idea though, and instead we keep getting sub trees and sub trees inside of sub trees, some of which make absolutely zero sense or could alienate huge chunks of players. Ah well.
This is the first plane that actually relies on original R-27's cuz everything else that has them... uses them for a short time until they unlock the Extended Range versions. The R's do ok with selective shots roughly 5 to 8km... but they do pull very hard for not having a very strong motor so opponents can actually outmaneuver it simply because they keep the missile from getting up to speed. The T's I love using for rear aspect shots. Basically impossible to flare if they aren't able to change aspect quick enough. It does have IRCCM as well in the same way the R-73 does (It's also just more sensitive to aircraft when looking at them rear aspect just like the 73). Generally for the rear shot I'd aim for later Sidewinder ranges: 2.5 - 3km max if both planes are past Mach. From my own personal experiences using them.

Sometimes I'll take the ET's and run a full IR build, which obviously greatly increases the range you can use them but, same rules generally apply for their use as with the regular T's. They're pretty easily flared if it's not direct rear aspect.
I've found all those numbers to be horribly unreliable during the first hour or so. The stats it shows me on the back end are usually nowhere near the stats it shows on the video viewing page until the following day. No idea why YT can't count in two places at the same time ....

This goes way back to when French was spoken in the Russian court. Look at all the French planes that have a "Bis" in their designation for a second model of the aircraft.
I’m a British main, currently grinding with the FGR. 2 (+ talisman), and have honestly burnt out from all the missiles I can’t dodge (yes, I’m a bad player, I transitioned to air after hitting the Challenger 2 grindstone for too long). When I heard we were going to get a premium I thought that maybe I’d be in the queue for it to try something new if it was cheap to mid priced, maybe even 60€ if it would go on sale. This being Tier VIII and 75€ has put paid to that. Guess I’ll just wait it out and buy a new batch of premium when a sale roles around and I have the money to spare. Thanks for the video Tim.
Legit question: Do you think the F20 should go to 11.7 from 12.0? The Bison is 11.7 while it has better air to air weapons but the F20 has better air to ground weapons.
You've got the 2019 India/Pakistan confrontation mixed up a little bit. While India claims that one of their MiGs shot down a PAF F-16, the only mutually agreed upon air to air casualties that day (confirmed by India, Pakistan, and neutral parties) are an Indian MiG-21 actually shot down by a Pakistani F-16 and an Indian Mil Mi-17 taken out by friendly fire. While Pakistan also claims another one of their Vipers took out an Indian Su-30 that day, that hasn't been confirmed by anyone else and India of course denies it, so it's likely as dubious a claim as India's claim they shot down that F-16
Adding more irccm missiles at 11.7 is going to cause another compression issue just like the 9.0-10.0 br bracket's all aspects. The mig-21 bison won't cause too many problems by itself, but it sets a precedent that concerns me...
Precedent? My guy there´s a ton of vehicles at that br and lower that have good missiles. Mirage 2000, Mirage F1 and F1C, F14 for aim54´s, Su 39, su 25t, su 25bm, F5EFCU, some of the chinese planes...etc. If you wanna count the mig 29 and F16´s at 12.0 then those too. You can find R73, magic 2, pl5c (not sure if it has irccm). Hell even a new premium amx has like 45g missiles, and if you wanna count the python 3´s then yeah, even though the irccm is trash on them, and it´s not that good on the R73 either. Like, a magic 2 or an aim9m is way better for irccm.
I'm utterly batshit insane, so I love taking MiG-21's and dogfighting F-16's and because the Mig 21 is the king of the 1 Circle I win fairly often. this is going to be fun for a few days when players aren't used to a MiG-21 having god weapons

I've seen many guides and videos in order to get better at this yet to no avail So may I ask you to make a video of your actual gameplay but maybe more focused on dogding missiles with some explaination and hints over it please? We aren’t Public Resentment towards the Continued usage of the Mig-21 goes as far back as 2006 if not earlier when a wildly popular movie titled “Rang De Basanti” hit the theatres, it referenced the incessant pilot and equipment attrition rates due to deep seated corruption and red tape bureaucracy in the government. I don’t know why we still keep using these rust buckets, I know downsizing isn’t an option when you’re locked into a cold confrontation with China but damn, at what point does maintaining these planes only for them to go on to crash and kill our trained pilots become adequate enough to warrant their retirement? Machines can be replaced experienced pilots are hard to come by.

Wasn't it confirmed that no f-16s were lost during the entire operation, only confirmed shoot down was an indian mig-21 by a pakistani f-16 and an indian mi-8 due to friendly fire.
I have the IAF released radar data, and the f16 wreckage sight was sealed for a week and more, and there is an US official present in Pakistan to cover up the wreckage evidence. Their primary objective is to cover up the incidents like these. When India destroyed American tanks supplied to Pakistan in previous battles, the US requested India not to show those captured tanks as it will decrease the sales of American weapons.
Possibly, but they don't really need one, as their arms industry dwarfs everyone elses. The subtrees were added to fill out countries in areas where they were lacking.
Gaijin recently made a statement that countries with 5 separate lines will be getting no sub tree. (US has air force, interceptor, navy, attacker, and bomber lines)
To be fair its safety figures were comparable to other 1st and 2nd gen jets in Indian service, but because its stuck around way longer it has more total accidents/fatalities.

Not really, Israel is already an unpopular enough tech tree because it is pure copy and paste right up until top tier, even then it only gets the F-15 and only their tanks are indigenous. India would be the exact same story, using largely the same tanks and aircraft as Israel in-game, just without Israel’s unique modifications to them. There is already way too much copy and paste in War Thunder, adding more will just destroy any incentive to research multiple trees, which in-turn will decrease sales for Gaijin as people would want to grind less, which of course Gaijin would never allow lmao.
@@OiOi-Jim You have a point but generally speaking cramping foreign aircraft into an already existing tech tree (as a form of added national subtree) decreases the incentive to research more than 2 tech trees already, since you will find most top tier jets in maximum of 2 trees already.

BTW, just as the MiG-21's Western counterpart, the F-104 earned the "Widowmaker" moniker for the high number of casualties due to crashes and such, the MiG-21 earned the same thing here in India.

Putting Indian jet in British tree seem like a jab at colonial past, which I'm not sure how to feel about it. Regardless, being a MiG-21 that can't be put in the same line up as most MiG-21 already suck enough.
More likely, it's a convenience to fill out gaps due to a historic link, Plus they’re one of the biggest contributors to the commonwealth. In all honesty, they should just change it to the commonwealth tree and embrace it properly.
About the history part regarding the kill on a Pak F-16, looking at this un-bias, India claims they shot down a F16 and Pakistan claims they shot down a MiG-21, Su-30MKI, and a Jaguar. According to whatever images that are available online and I was there watching the news when it happened irl, all I saw were MiG-21 and Jaguar wreckages, the Indian Mig-21 pilot that managed to land on Pakistani soil, subsequently released back to India. On the other hand India showed just one picture of a piece of sheet metal that said AIM-120 but other then that no further evidence about a F16 shot down, no wreckage, no nothing. IDK if America actually looked into the inventory of Pak F16 which they said they would with concern that Pak wasn't allowed to use F16 for aggression. The point of it all is, both these nations can't be taken seriously cus they will stop at nothing to try and one up another. Based on the images and evidence of the fiery wreckages of jets seen, even an Indian aircraft analyst said it was a Mig-21 wreckage on live news. The pilot "Abhinandan" who was released back to India, I firmly believe that an Indian MiG-21 Bison and Jaguar were confirmed kills however, the Pak claiming an Su-30MKI was just propaganda cus I've seen no evidence of it. Same goes for the Indian claim they shot down a F-16, I'm not trying to insult fellow Indians, I just don't see any evidence of a F-16, you'd think the Indians would show more then just a piece of metal saying AIM-120, right...
there are no sources backing up Indian's claims other than Indian sources, the US intelligence community casted doubt on the claim due to the total lack of evidence.

Hot take, premium vehicles should not get access to the newest weapons to be added to the game. This thing should not get r-77s regardless of how much someone may have overpaid for it. Realism isn't an excuse for predatory game design.
Meh, that boat has long sailed. If it was up to me, premiums would be locked until you reach that rank with at least one nation, with their main use to help flesh out existing lineups, but that will never happen. Since they already burned that bridge, they should just focus on balance and realism and fuck people who are jealous because other's bought something they don't have. Personal ego should never be used to dictate gameplay features. Personally, I've not played it, so can't say if adding them would be a good idea or not. They could help with balance as since the missiles would then do a lot of the work it could probably stick at a higher BR. Then again without it will likely end up at a lower BR and fill a nice gap in the tree.
@@TimsVariety Tim is that now the stock grind is very, very bad, the new planes are so impossible to grind, take the test, take one of the new planes and grind a modification without chaff with only 2 ircccm missiles. You can't do dogfight because you don't have a g suit, you can't reach the targets on the ground or at the bases, because there are no bombs and the dozens of fox 3 in the air stop you, you can't even reach the battle. stock grind is a horrible mechanic, you are literally punished for progressing in the game and acquiring new content from updates. I don't even want to play with new planes that I just researched. It was already a bad mechanic that had improved a little but it's still bad, now with the 13.0 planes I'm back to what it was in the past, completely unplayable
That's a flying example of how good the fox1 matchmaking could've been if gaijin haven't kept the r27er meta and haven't nerfed its carriers' FMs th the ground

I have noticed with TWS with the Bison the TWS mode sometimes can’t see targets in a head on and have to switch to TWS HDN I thought TWS is a PD mode in general

The "quick and good enough" conversion is to divide in half, and add 10% of the original. 1000kmh becomes about 600mph (in reality its like, 620 or something, but "close enough") The overwhelming majority of the playerbase uses metric in-game, so thats what I've defaulted to.

I pre-ordered this plane before even knowing everything about it... probably not a good idea but I just love Mig-21's, and the idea of this plane tempted me too much, so I put some money aside for it and pre-ordered it.
People like you are the reason premiums are so outrageously expensive. You can go get any module in DCS for less than the bison or tigershark, there's no reason anyone should be spending that kind of money for a vehicle in war thunder.

I like how WT plays, I like how it's not ultra realistic and how easy it is to play. I do not have the setup to properly enjoy DCS to my liking or the PC good enough for it. I play WT and pay for it because it's fun for me, I work the majority of the week so it's nice to have a vehicle I enjoy so much to come back to and play. You don't have to like me and my way of thinking which is fine, but understand I'm not doing this to suck Gaijins dick or anything, I'm doing this to enjoy the game I like playing. I do agree with your first point, I do spend too much money on WT and should probably cut back, But saying to go and play DCS is a poor comparison. I do not have a good enough PC to play DCS or a good enough setup to enjoy DCS how I would want to, I enjoy how much of a arcady game WT is, it's easy to pick up and easy to learn and run. I bought the Bison knowing full well how expensive it is and how buying even another game would probably be a better investment, but I enjoy WT air combat, I enjoy it and have a ton of fun with it. Coming home from work I look forward to playing WT, I truly enjoy the time and money spent on it. You don't have to agree with me, but from my prospective I just spent my disposable income on something I would enjoy. I don't buy premiums because I like Gaijin or anything, I do it because I enjoy it. Infact I disagree with a lot of stuff Gaijin does, but you don't have to share my opinion or even like it, I just wanted to show you it, I got a full time job, when I get home I just want to fly my jets and shoot missiles. The yak-41 can only carry 2 r-27extended range missiles so it kinda half relies on the regular ones technically but yeah interesting point

I have the IAF released radar data, and the f16 wreckage sight was sealed for a week and more, and there is an US official present in Pakistan to cover up the wreckage evidence. Their primary objective is to cover up the incidents like these. When India destroyed American tanks supplied to Pakistan in previous battles, the US requested India not to show those captured tanks as it will decrease the sales of American weapons.

Not really, Israel is already an unpopular enough tech tree because it is pure copy and paste right up until top tier, even then it only gets the F-15 and only their tanks are indigenous. India would be the exact same story, using largely the same tanks and aircraft as Israel in-game, just without Israel’s unique modifications to them.
There is already way too much copy and paste in War Thunder, adding more will just destroy any incentive to research multiple trees, which in-turn will decrease sales for Gaijin as people would want to grind less, which of course Gaijin would never allow lmao.
@@OiOi-Jim You have a point but generally speaking cramping foreign aircraft into an already existing tech tree (as a form of added national subtree) decreases the incentive to research more than 2 tech trees already, since you will find most top tier jets in maximum of 2 trees already.

I've sent feedback to the snail at LEAST a dozen times that India deserves its own rank4+ tree, same as Israel got .. but nope .. instead they give all the Indian stuff to the British, without any regard for the history between those two nations ..... **shrugs**
India does have atleast 2 indigenous air vehicles (Marut, Rank 6 and Tejas, Rank 8/9) so it kinda fits imo

More likely, it's a convenience to fill out gaps due to a historic link, Plus they’re one of the biggest contributors to the commonwealth. In all honesty, they should just change it to the commonwealth tree and embrace it properly.

About the history part regarding the kill on a Pak F-16, looking at this un-bias, India claims they shot down a F16 and Pakistan claims they shot down a MiG-21, Su-30MKI, and a Jaguar. According to whatever images that are available online and I was there watching the news when it happened irl, all I saw were MiG-21 and Jaguar wreckages, the Indian Mig-21 pilot that managed to land on Pakistani soil, subsequently released back to India. On the other hand India showed just one picture of a piece of sheet metal that said AIM-120 but other then that no further evidence about a F16 shot down, no wreckage, no nothing. IDK if America actually looked into the inventory of Pak F16 which they said they would with concern that Pak wasn't allowed to use F16 for aggression. The point of it all is, both these nations can't be taken seriously cus they will stop at nothing to try and one up another.
Based on the images and evidence of the fiery wreckages of jets seen, even an Indian aircraft analyst said it was a Mig-21 wreckage on live news. The pilot "Abhinandan" who was released back to India, I firmly believe that an Indian MiG-21 Bison and Jaguar were confirmed kills however, the Pak claiming an Su-30MKI was just propaganda cus I've seen no evidence of it. Same goes for the Indian claim they shot down a F-16, I'm not trying to insult fellow Indians, I just don't see any evidence of a F-16, you'd think the Indians would show more then just a piece of metal saying AIM-120, right...
there are no sources backing up Indian's claims other than Indian sources, the US intelligence community casted doubt on the claim due to the total lack of evidence.

Hot take, premium vehicles should not get access to the newest weapons to be added to the game. This thing should not get r-77s regardless of how much someone may have overpaid for it. Realism isn't an excuse for predatory game design.
Meh, that boat has long sailed. If it was up to me, premiums would be locked until you reach that rank with at least one nation, with their main use to help flesh out existing lineups, but that will never happen. Since they already burned that bridge, they should just focus on balance and realism and fuck people who are jealous because other's bought something they don't have. Personal ego should never be used to dictate gameplay features.
Personally, I've not played it, so can't say if adding them would be a good idea or not. They could help with balance as since the missiles would then do a lot of the work it could probably stick at a higher BR. Then again without it will likely end up at a lower BR and fill a nice gap in the tree.
Im fine with them not adding the R-77. It gives the british lineup something between the phantom at 11.3 and the tornado at 12.7@@MrEsphoenix

@@TimsVariety Tim is that now the stock grind is very, very bad, the new planes are so impossible to grind, take the test, take one of the new planes and grind a modification without chaff with only 2 ircccm missiles.
You can't do dogfight because you don't have a g suit, you can't reach the targets on the ground or at the bases, because there are no bombs and the dozens of fox 3 in the air stop you, you can't even reach the battle.
stock grind is a horrible mechanic, you are literally punished for progressing in the game and acquiring new content from updates.
I don't even want to play with new planes that I just researched.
It was already a bad mechanic that had improved a little but it's still bad, now with the 13.0 planes I'm back to what it was in the past, completely unplayable
That's a flying example of how good the fox1 matchmaking could've been if gaijin haven't kept the r27er meta and haven't nerfed its carriers' FMs th the ground

I have noticed with TWS with the Bison the TWS mode sometimes can’t see targets in a head on and have to switch to TWS HDN I thought TWS is a PD mode in general
It is, but individual radar sets performance can vary. In general, HDN is better than regular PD at longer ranges.

The "quick and good enough" conversion is to divide in half, and add 10% of the original. 1000kmh becomes about 600mph (in reality its like, 620 or something, but "close enough")
The overwhelming majority of the playerbase uses metric in-game, so thats what I've defaulted to.

I pre-ordered this plane before even knowing everything about it... probably not a good idea but I just love Mig-21's, and the idea of this plane tempted me too much, so I put some money aside for it and pre-ordered it.
People like you are the reason premiums are so outrageously expensive. You can go get any module in DCS for less than the bison or tigershark, there's no reason anyone should be spending that kind of money for a vehicle in war thunder.

I like how WT plays, I like how it's not ultra realistic and how easy it is to play. I do not have the setup to properly enjoy DCS to my liking or the PC good enough for it.
I play WT and pay for it because it's fun for me, I work the majority of the week so it's nice to have a vehicle I enjoy so much to come back to and play.
You don't have to like me and my way of thinking which is fine, but understand I'm not doing this to suck Gaijins dick or anything, I'm doing this to enjoy the game I like playing.

I do agree with your first point, I do spend too much money on WT and should probably cut back, But saying to go and play DCS is a poor comparison. I do not have a good enough PC to play DCS or a good enough setup to enjoy DCS how I would want to, I enjoy how much of a arcady game WT is, it's easy to pick up and easy to learn and run.
I bought the Bison knowing full well how expensive it is and how buying even another game would probably be a better investment, but I enjoy WT air combat, I enjoy it and have a ton of fun with it. Coming home from work I look forward to playing WT, I truly enjoy the time and money spent on it. You don't have to agree with me, but from my prospective I just spent my disposable income on something I would enjoy.
I don't buy premiums because I like Gaijin or anything, I do it because I enjoy it. Infact I disagree with a lot of stuff Gaijin does, but you don't have to share my opinion or even like it, I just wanted to show you it, I got a full time job, when I get home I just want to fly my jets and shoot missiles.
