- So, I had to nip out to pick up a bike for my daughter, and my mate and channel regular, Phil, mentioned there was an abandoned 16th century chapel, in the that very area. So I thought it rude not to pop up and have a look.
Trinity Chapel sits in the woods between the villages of Wessington and Brackenfield in Derbyshire, and has sat that, abandoned since 1856.
The Doomsday Book of 1086 lists the location as having a chapel, but this incarnation was built in 1511.
The sheriff of arms to King Henry 8th, built the chapel in memorial to his late wife, and it served the community for over 300 years before a new church was built nearby.
I really enjoyed this one, as the whole atmosphere around the place was really calming and peaceful.

It's always a pleasure Gareth to watch a man who never learns about shorts & nettles. Much love my good man , Wishing the absolute best to you & your loved ones. 🙏❤(The little chapel was great to see , what a beautiful view)
Haha. Yeah i don't learn
Looks like i left the entrance gate open the other day ! Nice one. And a big thanks to my mate Mark for the tip off.
Yes, cheers Mark!
Ah, first to comment. That chapel does look in much better shape that so many of the other 200 year old building you visit. It looks really well built and was probably kept in great shape due to its use until it was abandoned Great find. Thanks.
Cheers mate
Wow! That certainly does feel like a very special place - what a beautiful find, and location! (The church bells where I live started ringing as I began typing this comment..!) :) Thanks for sharing, finding, to you and big Phil!
Cheers mate.
Lovely little vid Gareth. I love owt like that. Like you, I ain’t religious, but I do love religious buildings. Glenfield near Leicester has quite a big church ruin, near the new church.
Had a really nice energy about the place actually. I'd go back just to chill out to be honest.
@@IckeWalks yeah I felt like that about Folley mill
Been there many times over the years loads of trees down in the wood last time I was there 👍
Lovely there mate.
Thanks for another great video Gareth , it seems the more we look for answers , the more that new questions arise . I know what you mean about "feeling something" , the whole area seems to have "healing waters" and much has been written about them but has since been "scienced away". Something is being hidden about them ( just my opinion). Looking forward to the next stomp , thanks again ❤❤
Derbyshire is a very important place I think. All the leylines centring at Arbor Low feels significant too.
Really lovely walk there matey and so peaceful too. What an incredible find! Highoredish is near where you did this stomp and there's some incredible views from there but one heck of a stomp to get up there!
You're more than likely know but just to say that Ogsten Reservoir was built to provide water to the Coking Plant at Wingerworth.
Keep up the amazing work and videos.
Thanks mate. Went right through the Ashover light railway as I understand it, too?
Thats right mate-the railway ran through where they flooded the land to create the reservoir to provide water for the Coking plant at Wingerworth.
We have been there it is very chilled, got it on my channel, but Folklore mentions a travelor that was found dead along the Hollow way close to the chapel and as no one could claim him he was buried in the chapel enclosure, my dog kept scratching at a slab which was eeriy
I had no idea about that! Which I am probably glad of to be honest! Haha.
@@IckeWalks Ye might have spoilt the ambience 😅
What a stunning place, I was thinking the same about the vibes, I could feel it before you said it. Did you say Moreton Hall ?
Thank you.
Morton Church. A mile or two away.
Have you ever been to Haughton chapel near Ollerton. It's a few years since I've been but it also gave off very happy vibes
I haven't. Must check it out!
👍
That guy at 2:47 has funny-shaped legs, or he farts a lot inside his trousers!
Dude loves a leg curl.
