- Phil and myself are back out for a stomp in our native Derbyshire.
This time, we're in the beautiful village of Crich. The village sits between the larger towns of Alfreton, Matlock and Belper, and was once a hotbed of industry.
We are trying to the find the remains of ancient pack horse roads, quarries, lead mines, tramways, bridges and tunnels, that sit hidden in amongst the now expanded village.
Crich stand, Cliff quarry, Old End Mine, Glory Mine, Wakebridge Mine, the George Stephenson's Gangroad (Tramway), the Frtichley Gangroad (Tramway), Market Tunnel, and Hilts quarry are on our list to tick off.
I hope you enjoy the hunt.

Haha. No problem.
What a fab walk, and those gardens were so cool. Thank you.
So cool! Thanks.
A great stomp. Glad to see the good weather for your walk.
Sun sorts everything!
Brilliant video chaps! A particular highlight for me was the tunnel in the garden. And a Cully shoutout. My weekend is complete ❤
Wasnt a highlight for me as the damm thing is almost invisible during summer !
A really great video especially with all of those old photos, it really does help as in marrying up the past with the present.

Fab walk as usual, interesting name Crich, when I saw the short it reminded me of a series called Carnival Row. You had me chuckling a few times haha. It looked a beautiful village... and you could nearly see my house from the top!
I often think it would be a lovely place to live. Bit out nay price range at the minute sadly!
What a cracking episode, I'm the Mark who you and Phil did the shoutout to early on so thanks for that. As Phil knows Im Crich born n bred so know everywhere very well. The Methodist Chapel you talked about, for years was full of motorcycles and folk would come for miles to see Jim the owner. Info was spot on, cant wait to see you back in the area!
Nice one Mark. I knew you would be listening carefully for any mis information 😆
@@gilesestram lol yes indeed, listened very carefully!
Thanks mate. Appreciate the heads up!
@@IckeWalks you are welcome mate! Keep up the good work eh…
Great Video guys . Some realy amazing finds. My grandfather was a Derbyshire cole miner & a methodist lay preacher it is interesting why so many miners were Methodist .I am still trying to find the connection .😀👍
