It's a bit surprising there aren't any decent can views of this run (that I have found), so one from the back is OK! Some wonderful engineering which still looks new. A pity the line from Matlock was closed.
Connection to Buxton and Manchester, It's the missing link, tourism and less congestion. Access via Hope valley from Sheffield, I would be hiking every weekend.
In the grand scheme of things the Matlock service is of negligible value and cannot justify its existence from revenue alone. IF however the old main line was reopened then there would be a massive increase in passenger use and an incredible boost to local economies. Its only a short length from Matlock to Great Rocks and the cost would soon be recouped. it would again be one of the most scenic lines in the country and Peak Rail could co-exist along with national rail. It is a no brainer, we just need people in power with the imagination and foresight to do it.
A fascinating video of a line seldom covered. Interestingly, it was taken just before th ebig remodelling of Derby and, as such, is a bit of an historical artefact.

It should never have been closed, it should have at least stayed open to Bakewell
