The GT-1000 and new GX-100 are the creme de la creme of multi-effect systems. I have a GT-1, the base entry model into the GT family, and I absolutely love it. I've tried the Helix, Headrush, Kemper, AxFx, and others, and Boss is king. They don't waste their time trying to faithfully recreate the exact tone of their amp models, but rather get a very accurate approximation and improve upon it by letting you control the parameters. I have found amp models that offer better clarity and articulation than some of the top boutique tube monsters.
Love the intro. Love the new studio. Quality of the video has improved a lot. About this unit, it seems that every company are trying to sell All-in-one unit!!! I have the Helix and since I have bought that unit, I never bought a new pedal or an amp. Some will says that it is not the real thing but when I play it, I don't try to compare it with another unit. I just play my music and enjoy it. Probably if I was trying to compare it to another unit like the GT-1000 or the Neural DSP I would be able to find things that I like less but in the end, I'm still very happy about the Helix.
If their firmware updater isn’t compatible with older versions of MacOS (and not even really that old, like 2019?) I would say that’s a bit of problem on Boss’ part.
I can emulate everything with this little wonder box... I got it because of how well it handled acoustic electric guitars... If I could only have one pedal, this would be it...
I just got one, its a beast. love the size and all it can do. i also had a Line 6 helix stomp before it (which is super cheap made even the knob broke 2 days after getting it !) what a fail. anyway this pedal is top, i also prefer its design to all other profiler etc. im looking forward to using this live with my bass and in the studioooooooooooooo.
People tend to buy modellers through youtuber's chugtones. It's ridicilous. GT1000 plays like heavens. I'd swear that the picking dynamics are even more prominent than my tube amp's. It's stupid how much people pay to buy devices like kemper that in the end they will drive them deeper in the tone rabidhole.
Having owned a Boss ME-80 and associated with other musicians who have plugged into a myriad of boss amplifiers, pedals and multi-effects units and totally dig the quality of the sounds they make, I’m inclined not to concern over whether GT-1000 Core measures up against the competition as much as whether it functions as an amp modeler and effects generator. It’s January 2024 as I comment. The multiple unboxing and review videos I’ve watched tell me it *could* succeed all seven modeling units I’ve owned since 1999, and that includes the Zoom B1X-four & 3030 pedal units, the Line 6 Flextone II, Pod XT Live, Pod HD 500 & Pocket Pid *and* the Boss ME-80 (which I’m disappointed to learn can’t be configured as a switching device for Core). I might have been tempted to spring for either the Profiler or Helix, only I came to the conclusion that both of them were both too scientific and too expensive for a musician on a budget like myself. January giveaway to February, my temptation is to purchase the Core and take the consequences of having to page through all of its parameters, in the hope that the modelers and effects in its mainframe will give me something I’ve been trying to do since I was 19 in ‘99: approximate the electric guitar tone created by the group Boston on their sophomore record, *Don’t Look Back.*
The Boss unit is cool, however if they would only increase the size of the screen.... the gt1000 core is designed as a floor pedal, but when it’s on the floor you the screen has far too much detail to be utilized from standing distance. They should keep all of the inner capabilities but increase the size of the cabinet to offer much larger screen that’s about 5 x 4 inches at least
Thank you for the great review! I was thinking of perhaps getting a Kemper as I currently have a boss GT 1000 but after this review, I think I'll be holding on to the Mr Boss!!
Totally agree its a superb piece of kit the big let down is that you have to buy the special cord for connecting it to a computer. Helix comes with that cord at no extra charge.
Love the intro ! I’d love to put vids up but I’m not pleased with the quality just performing in front of an iPhone ! What do I need to preform with my tracks 🤘
Misleading advertising. And of course! I bought it. They tell you it has unlimited processing power. And they put these tones and effects on you like something that is at the level of Helix, Kemper, Fractal. And it is a huge lie. It's not even 1/3 as good as those processors are. I cannot return it because I bought it through international amazon and the cost is high and the obstacles are many. I just want to save you the great upset that I had
Bro, it is a good MFX ! I would say it does compare very well with HX Stomp. Please see RUclips comparing HX Stomp and GT1000, No words. AIRD is good. I do like the flexibility of the blocks. Takes a bit of time to understand, but it is nice. Don't give up on it with the assumption that HX Stomp is way better.
Hi! Can you help me? I can't get my GT-1000core sounding good on a Marshall Origin50 with 2x12 Creams. I am going on send(sub out) and I can't find a good output that would work. Most sounds are a bit harsh or dull, they don't sound full and thumpy like they are when I play on the Marshal on 50% gain directly. It feels like it is not pushing enough air. The purpose of having this device is that some places where I gig, they only want me to go through the mixer. So, I am practicing at home with the Marshall, and going from Core-mono out-DI XLR- Mixer. This is why I setup the Marshall on the sub out, so I can practice with the tube amp at home and use this setup directly on mixers when gigging. Any advice?
@@anthonylam3994 Thanks! I went through the return and have been happy since haha. That Marshall plays better with the pedal than my 5150 stealth. The 5150 has 3 channels but no master.
Got my GT-1000 Core, the RC-500, EV-30, 2 FS-7s , and a Morningstar MC-8 and even though I am a beginner I love the setup. By the way sell the Kemper and buy a PC... trash the Mac.. LOL
I really liked the video (gave a thumbs up) but I personally don't like the amp sound of the boss unit out of the box. The fx are stunning, though. My Kemper Stage is not a lot bigger, has much more switches and gives me everything you mentioned plus perfect amp tone out of the box that I could not find in any modeller, so far. I am very curious about the Quaf Cortex because that would implement everything from every world, it seems. Let's see. Anyways your videos are cool, I enjoy them! Thanks.
Hi, what I wish to do is use my Boss GT-1000 Core for just its effects pedal capability - i.e. don't need amp simulation/AIRD/modelling. You briefly touched up on how to do it. I was wondering if you could elobrate on how to use the GT-1000 core for just using it as another pedal on a pedalboard. I like the sound of my amp and don't want to use the modelling technology. On an different note... I would like to experiment with the modelling technology going directly into a PA at a later time. I made one attempt today trying to output the sound from the Core to a high quality DI box into a high quality PA system. I was disappointed. I still liked my Kemper sound - however, I'm willling to give it another try - maybe I did not dial in the sounds correctly. - Thanks!
More finger snapping would be nice. 24 simultaneous effects? 4 of them are eqs and 3 of them are delays. So we are down to 17. How many reverbs can you run simultaneously? ONE. So the price of Helix is more than justified, that of gt 1000 not so much.
Subscribed. Additional +++plus for the Rush t-shirt. Very well structured video , quality info and very relevant additional perspective and commentary. Well done Ben.
I recently bought a Boss SY-1 pedal for my acoustic guitar, and it just doesn’t track as well as it tracks electric guitars... I’m trying to figure out if this is always going to be the case with acoustics or if there is something wrong with my setup. I haven’t seen any videos using the SY-1 on an acoustic guitar, so it seems like it’s just not that common. Any ideas?
You probably should put a electric guitar pickup in your sound hole, the sy-1 will have a hard time tracking because of the reverb in the timber being picked up with your acoustics piezo pickup
Me: oh this is dope i want one Also me: GOD DAMN $700 BUCKS WTF keep in mind all of my gear combined is like guitar ~$250, amp ~$200, guitar hard case ~$100, and my only pedal ~$40. So like all together ~$590, if you add my acoustic guitar it'll be like ~$750.
Take no notice of Paul's video . I would prefer you watch either Rabea's or Rhett Shul's.. I have heard the enclosed effects and they are OK , but the real pleasure is you can profile your own ones in the QC.. They have pushed back the release now till March to update the SW , so we will see what they do .. Also look at the Axe Fx FM3. The GT1000 has no XLR outputs which is a shame and the screen is really too small and in Black and White.. You get what you pay for !! I agree about the toaster !! antique .. Mine went a year ago !!
Its their own custom chip which is optimised for these kind of applications unlike the generic chips used by other manufacturers of modelers which is most likely why they can put so much power in such a small box.
I doubt you sold the kemper... the boss gt is nice but it's missing a lot from the 500. It has a lot less than 24 slots since most of those slots are reserved... also you cannot upgrade your Mac to IOS since its not an iphone :)

Got to get those clicks. Boss obviously has lots of experience with effects, but tbh these amp models don't sound that hot. Plus I'm not sure how much I can trust his opinion that the feel is great when he's spreading lies about other things. Also it's not a good look at all that the USB connection is not working - on one hand he's horrified at the QC being delayed while GT-1000 Core looks like it could have used some more development time.

Can you do a review on the Quad Cortex vs Boss GT-1000?
This will happen for sure, as soon as my Quad Cortex Pre-Order Arrives. Looks like they have delayed it again.
Thing is, Boss is readily available and half the price. I’d be willing to bet that any differences in sound are subjective anyways.
