    An INSANE amount of complexity here...but I like the attention to detail and flexibility achieved. By far the best core video out there! Thankyou.

    This is very creative. I recently moved from es-8 to GigRig atom+ morning star ml-5. This video has my wheels turning on making a es-8 multichannel snake to my UA Apollo using Luna as a pedalboard. I do love the effects loops and parallel internal effects routing on those boss units though. But I think Luna can side-chain and all kinds of neato stuff as well.

    Awesome , Love your video's and everything you share as I use most of the same gear. The ES-8 is incredible and I'm so glad it came out all those years ago. I have owned it for all of these years with no issues. One thing I'd like to point out to you if you haven't found them already is the Boss OMNI Direction MIDI cables, They save space on your board and are so crazy awesome. I suggest you check them out they are 1 - 2 -3 ft lengths.

    I can "one up" you on this. I recently sorted out how to configure my GT1K as two mono blocks and one completely stereo block (I use a Morningstar ML5 looper in the first half of my set up and a ML10X stereo matrix router on the 2nd half into a stereo amp). Take the Left Input-run some GT1K mono effects-out of Send 1. That is in a loop of the ML5 between some other mono effects. Then I have a mono send from the ML10x (does stereo and mono per loop) running into the Right Input of the GT1K-more mono effect-out to Send 2. From there, you double the mono feed in the ML10x, to route to the stereo pedals. Then the third block can utilize both of the GT1K's returns, as a stereo input for stereo effects before it and the main outs are returned to the looper. The tricky part was sorting out how to make the divider properly divorce the left and right inputs...starting with the left input was big help. Then you have to set the divider to "Dual Mode" and the routing as "selector". You have to watch the levels on the 2nd block and the mixer after the divider. Once you balance it out, it sounds HUGE.

    I came to the same conclusion after years of different pedalboard setups... The GT1000 Core with the ES-8 is the best way to go for so many reasons...

    This is a great tutorial. It saved me so much time. The only thing that didn't work for me was the third pedal, the one between the 2nd insert and the master out. I see input level into the gt1000 core when the first loop is engaged, but zero sound when the 3rd loop is engaged, and no output level meter activity.🤔 Any thoughts?

    hey i also have the core and im having a hard time wrapping my head around this, would this work with an empress zoia (stereo) and a tone x (mono)? would i be able to run those pedals in the middle of the gt1000's chain? or would one of them have to always be at the start?

  • @richhall3861

    Very helpful, currently I have my gt-1000 core integrated into es8 by what boss tech support sent but I may switch to this setup which ends up being 2 sections either front of amp or effects return. I would be interested in how you use amp sims though

    So how is it routed out if the es8 to the amp fx loop? Use a loop on es 8 for amp loop and then the output to front of amp?

  • @daveskritterkingdom
    @daveskritterkingdom 4 месяца назад +1

    Do all the loops have to be on for the Core to work in the ES8? I have it setup like you and that's the only way I can get sound.

      No you shouldn't. Are the FX loops on in the Core?

  • @dominicgibson9529

    A truly brilliant video, and very much appreciated. Am I reading this right, though...you don't seem to be using the V in the ES8 in the process of placing CORE effects in pre- amp or FX loop? I mean I see in the final diagram that the ES8 is connected to the amp in 4CM. Are all the CORE loops placed before the V? If that's the case how do effects from the CORE "know" they're running into the FX loop of the amp? Have I missed something,,,? (entirely possible). This is where my CORE starts squealing. Once again, brilliant video and a great explanation...I just want to make sure I'm reading this right.

      If you look at 11:45 I am using the volume loop with the ES-8 and GT1000CORE.

    • @dominicgibson9529
      @dominicgibson9529 11 месяцев назад

      @@ManBunMetalHead I saw that, but wanted to hear your thoughts on the positioning of the ES8 V. However, I’ve since thought about that…do you assign, say, ES8 loop 3 as after V if pedal 3 in the CORE is set as in FX loop. Does that make sense? One of the other issues I have right now is that I can’t use the editing software as BOSS hasn’t set the CORE up to the latest Apple software. I’m really appreciating your patience, and the explanations are REALLY thorough.

    • @ManBunMetalHead
      @ManBunMetalHead  11 месяцев назад +2

      Yes, that is correct. Anything after the V Loop on the ES-8 will be in the FX loop of the amp when using the 4CM.

    • @dominicgibson9529

      @@ManBunMetalHead oh I get that…I guess I mustn’t be making myself clear. All the effects I use only use 1 loop on the ES8…the CORE is using 3…I’m wondering how the effects in the CORE “know” they’re in the loop above just being placed after the V. That’s why I just thought I’d had a breakthrough (🤪) with thinking how you place pedals 1, 2 and 3. I mean I’m trying to put what I think are FX loop effects from the CORE after the V, but if I then select the pre-V loop it squeals. Are there things in the CORE chain I should be placing somewhere to stop this…like, say, the CORE’s FX loop symbol? Really sorry if I’m just not getting something that may be very obvious. It’s just that I have mine set up in a way that should work but it doesn’t.

    • @ManBunMetalHead

    I've now managed to get my CORE and ES8 working like this. However somehow the master output volume knob doesn't do anything, which it did, and when I add loops 1-3 there's some odd stuff going on with leaps and drops in volume. Any thoughts here...my guitar is set up as far as its input volume is concerned, but activating loop 1, pre V, gives a big jump in volume, loops 2 & 3, post V, have volume drops

      I set mine up like this today with my One Control loop switcher. To get roughly unity gain for all three loops I had to turn the output setting of each of the two insert loops on the Core down to about 17 or so, and then master knob to 12 o’clock. The master knob will only control the level of loop 3. Loop 1 and 2 had to be turned down in the loop blocks inside the core. Hope this helps!

    I've been considering this configuration for a while as I have both of these devices. I was going to use loop 7 for stereo returns. Not sure why you didn't even mention this aspect of this configuration. Also, you completely lost me at the part where you put a noise gate at the head of the signal chain by choice and physically in loop 1. There isn't any noise at this location in the signal chain. You would always place a noise gate after dirt pedals but before your modulation. Interesting concept but I'm confused about why you didn't go stereo and you're placing the noise gate first.

  • @ToddSalpen
    @ToddSalpen 7 месяцев назад

    Bro, I think i found one of the most efficient and with the most connection possibilities connecting like this if you make this in a diagram you will understand
    GT is GT-1000Core and ES is the ES-8 also could work for the ES-5
    [ Guitar -> GT Input ] [ GT Send 1 -> ES Input ] [ ES Send 3 -> GT Return 1 ] [ GT Send 2 -> ES Return 3 ] [ ES Send 7 -> GT Return 2 ] [ GT Out L -> ES Return 7 L ] [GT Out R -> ES Return 7 R ] [ ES Out L -> Amp or Mixer ] [ ES Out R -> Amp or Mixer ]
    so doing this you will have in the ES-8 Loop1, Loop2, Loop4, Loop5, Loop6 and Loop8 and with stereo capabilities ready to be adapted as you need in the GT-1000core Loop1 and Loop2

    • @papaboom

      That is a fine way to do it - but be aware your entire signal is going to be digital at that point (End-to-end.)

  • @papaboom

    I've done this before and to me it's more trouble than it is worth.. you can get infinite loops going and there are a lot of considerations..in the end it's just confusing AF. I say put either 1) just put it in a loop on it's own (and then leverage the GT-1000 loops by adding like a pitch shifter or Boss Sy-1 etc) OR 2) Run the ES-8 in one of the loops of the GTK.. I really dont like that idea though because there is no way to go pure analog..

    I sold my Core and bought an FM3 which broke after two weeks. I was offered a repair but decided for a refund and bought an HX Stomp. The Core would have been better without it's terrible Fred Flintstone interface.
