I sold my Fractal AX8 to buy a Kemper, then I sold it to buy a Boss GT-1000 Core.

  • In this video I share my tone journey, from tubes to the new GT 1000 Core. Why did I sell my high end units to buy the Boss version?

    Thankyou for your feedback, is really usefull! The guy that tests all the latency must have been Leo Gibson, he does a great job at this! You gained a follower sir.

    I have had GT 1000 core close to 2 years now and it is just getting better. I think it's the versatility and amount of options that require more time with these multieffect units to find full potential.
    Love the dynamics of the amps in this.
    Many miss that cos they look for a max number of amps and exact copy of a amp sound art certain settings, i prefer dynamics which give more great tones per amp model.

    super reliable unit. I've got it on my desk turned on at least for 8 hours every day, for about 4 years now, and I move it very often from home to the studio on a weekly basis, it has never had any kind of glitch, bug, power issues, etc.
    aside from reliability for live shows, this unit has excellent studio capabilities for use on a DAW as a USB sound card. It has two instrument inputs for wet recording, and it can also record the dry signals that can be routed back to the unit to edit the plugins after tracking the guitar. This releases the stress of finding the right tone before tracking, you can find it later when mixing. I also learnt a way to use the two send connections to plug my keyboard in, and I placed it in the end of the effects chain so it doesn't take any of the guitar effects. So basically you have 4 inputs available, and you can choose whether the 4 inputs take effects or not.
    and one more thing for live shows, you can program your shows on a DAW (if your drummer is happy with playing over a click track), and the DAW can switch the patches on the GT1000 through MIDI commands. You just need to set the right places for the tone change. So you don't even need to be in contact with the unit, you can just forget about it and let the DAW take control.

    I use a Axe Fx II in my studio, I sold my Kemper, not satisfied with the effects. For live I purchased a Boss GT1000 Core with a Morningstar MC8, sounds great.

    I play my guitars in my home studio only. I’ve had HX Stomp, FM3 and Kemper Stage for 1 -2 years. There was always a struggle to me to set the tone that I like with those devices. In case of BOSS GT Core it’s very easy. Tunes are great and more fun. And you get all those amazing BOSS effects in one small box. Best choice if you want to enjoy your playing :) Cheeres!

    I have tried lots of different modelers from all the different brand. Right now the BOSS GT 1000 is the best for me. There is a reason they have been one of the best for so long. One thing I love is you never run out of DSP power

    I believe that you are talking about Leo Gibson's channel. I'm about to do the same thing with my FM3. Love the thing, but recently I had to repair and it was really expensive. In my country, Boss is a better deal since it's a bigger brand in the region and have better technical assistance. Also, GT1000 sounds great.

      Agreed. Tech support and repair costs and timing are a big concern sometimes. I feel more confortable taking a 600 unit to a gig.

    Hi as a bass player, there is no comparison, since the Kamper bass sound, for anything other than Metal is just bad (especially in the mix). But objectively the audio quality of the Boss is superior (32/196) from pure technical POV, also and this is known to be one of the Kamper week points, and any Boss unit great advantages, is the FX - we cannot argue with the amount of Boss pedals all over music history, and since we are in the digital domain, if you own the algorithm... The audio quality of recording done with the GTC as interface (I did it as a test), is almost on pair with my RME UCXII, which says a lot.

    I Huggle and ❤❤❤❤ my GT1K soooo much. A-I-R-D is my jam, peanut butter and bread. For anyone: I highly recommend Juca Nery and Daniel Kramer for presets/patches. Juca makes some lovely stuff. Daniel leans toward harder/saturated.
    Glad you found a box that fits your gig man! Best Regards and Best Wishes!

    It's interesting how guitarists don't feel the latency of a tube amp sitting 3 yards (8.9ms latency)away from them but somehow psychologically they're able to feel 3ms of latency in a digital modeller/Profiler.

    • @JLGabaldon
      @JLGabaldon  2 месяца назад

      You are correct there; guitarists typically don't feel latency below 10ish ms. Though your observation surely strengthens my point: Imagine a modeler that's 3 yards away and produces 3ms of latency natively. That's 12ms, and therefore very noticeable. Something to consider, if you use them live.

      It's crazy you mention this because I ALWAYS used digital my entire life. I recently played through a tube amp and I was like "this feels slow". I've always been extremely annoyed by latency though. I wrote modded drivers for a PCI audio card I had back when I was younger, just because I couldn't stand the latency

    • @JLGabaldon
      @JLGabaldon  Год назад +6

      @@niloben659 I think they are very competitive (the Boss GT), it's weird because the low latency does play a big role towards enjoying the tone of the device. Feels more real. The distortion tones are spot on, and so are the drives, which are typically the Achilles tendon on these pedals.
