    This is the best video that I have seen on highlights of the North Shore. It is both informative and nicely done. Worth watching. I would love to see your whole Circle Tour of Lake Superior. I hope I can find it on RUclips. Thanks so much for posting.

    Thank you very much for these great videos; they are a big help and inspiration for planning. I have a question that you might be able to help me with: Would a tour around Lake Superior in mid-April be recommended, or is it still too cold at that time?

    • @Lovenesters
      @Lovenesters  15 часов назад

      I'm glad you are finding the videos helpful! That was such a fun trip. We were there right before memorial day and you can see that swimming was not an option. I prefer Spring as the waterfalls are roaring the mosquitos aren't out, but I think mid April you run the risk of both a snow storm and things not being open. The UP has been known to still have snow on the ground in parts in May, and WI and MN can get snow in April. Hope that helps and happy travels!

    Was hoping you'd stop at "Iona's Beach!" I stayed there when it was still a resort back in the early 1990s. Iona was a gruff but kindly old lady. We were actually there the night the ambulance came to take her to the hospital for what turned out to be her last illness. Very sad, but it's so nice that the area is still open to the public instead of being turned into one of those fancy new resorts that seem to be taking over the shore.

    Nice travel video! My wife and I spent a week around Duluth and the North Shore last year around Memorial Day, and we especially loved seeing Split Rock Lighthouse. We have visited 120 lighthouses in and around Michigan and the Great Lakes since 2015. We loved all the beautiful places along the North Shore from Duluth all the way up to the Gunflint Trail and the Boundary Waters area.

    • @Lovenesters
      @Lovenesters  Год назад +1

      Wow you have seen a lot of lighthouses! We find ourselves drawn to them as well. The north shore is such an incredible place I feel like we only scratched the surface. I will say the waterfalls in the springtime were roaring. Thanks for watching - we hope you are able to watch the series - the entire lake superior tour is filled with beautiful sites.

      @@Lovenesters yes I followed your channel to see the Lake Superior tour. When we were at Gooseberry Falls on Memorial Day weekend 2022, it was the still having winter runoff melt so it was gushing over all the banks along the river and roaring at all 3 falls, some great video we got at the Middle and Lower Falls. The only place we didn't get to visit was Betty's Pie's, it was just too busy to stop there on our way up to Grand Marais. So we had pizza in Two Harbors and got to watch two lake Freighters loading iron pellets at the Ore Docks there, and we always love seeing any of the Lake Freighters, every chance we get. Sault Ste. Marie in Michigan and Duluth are the two best places to see them up close too. We only get one or two vacations a year so we love spending a week or so exploring areas like Duluth, Michigan's Upper Peninsula and northern Lower Michigan. Everywhere around the Great Lakes area is our favorite places 😁 we have over 500 videos on my channel from so many road trips.

We often stay at a chain hotel for the points. If you need info on a specific place just let us know. Happy to share info if we have it.

    • @Lovenesters
      @Lovenesters  10 месяцев назад

      Here is some information -
      Grand Marais Best Western in MN - superiorinngrandmarais.com/ This was probably the most expensive place we stayed but very nice.
      In ThunderBay we also stayed at a Best Western - Cross Roads. This was a very basic hotel more in town.
      Biggest surprise for us was in Wawa - Mystic Isle Motel - mysticisle.com/ Basic Motel but recently redecorated perfect spot for us and booked the night before.
      Grand Marais Michigan - voyageursmotelmi.com/ - This was nothing fancy but it was the perfect location for what we wanted to do in the morning - also booked last minute
      Houghton - Quality Inn and Suites. www.choicehotels.com/michigan/houghton/quality-inn-hotels/mi472?mc=llgoxxpx Last minute, nothing fancy but breakfast, pool, and staff great and recommending things to do.
      Hope that helps. The only hotel we booked ahead of time was Thunder Bay. We went the weekend before Memorial day. If going in the summer I would not take that risk.

    It's a shame Gooseberry gets so crowded, I would be a bigger fan of it if people dispersed to some of the other parks up there. I'm curious if you guys have been to Crosby Manitou? That's probably the most underrated park near the north shore with some great trails along the Manitou River (plus a waterfall).

    • @Lovenesters
      @Lovenesters  Год назад

      Ohhh thanks for the tip. I have a list of places I want to see on a north shore return trip. Thank you! Gooseberry can get crowded. We avoided the crowds by walking the loop. Very few people on the other side.
