Thanks for link to the detection kit via amazon. (couldn't find it via autozone) Yet this kit doesn't come with the dye. In your video at min. .59, we see that you're using a packet of "for professional use only" dye. Any tips or suggestions on just what you recommend for testing for leaks in coolant systems?
Saw a coolant puddle under my car after work today, this video came up when I searched how to easily find the leak and this was all I needed. Instantly subbed to this guy, keep it up man!
Another spot on video Scotty! As a retired mechanic (due to several injuries) now selling Auto Parts I've pointed this procedure out to many of my customers. The problem is most of them reply "I ain't got time for all dat! Ain'tcha got nunna dat stuff you just pour in da raad-e-a-ta?"
Your videos are some of the best around! I have been watching your videos for a couple years now and thanks to you have so much more confidence working on my own vehicles. Keep it up!! 👍👍
Yep! This one was especially succinct, yet had all the needed info! I like that he never blabs on and on all the time about himself, his day, or other non-essential stuff. Although I do wish he'd have a video on showing how he normally goes about his day. He has enough people watching him, I'm sure he'd get plenty of interest in those kinds of videos from him as well. Kind of like an "away from work" Scotty channel!
Wow thank you so much This has been so helpful had a leak on my van for two years and now I have located it using this uv kit Super simple to use keep up the good work
For all you rotary peeps out there (me being one) this works if you have an external coolant leak. If its inside the rotor housing then fire up that rebuild. Good video None the less.
Best mechanic ever! I love watching all your videos even if it’s not a particular problem I’m having. You just do it so well and make it so easy to follow. And on top of that your just a good “RUclips personality”.
Yes! This is what I been thinking of, I knew there had to be a better way. But Scotty what if my coolant is leaking through the head gasket do you think I'll still be able to see it? thanks
if you want to go even cheaper you can replace the dye with the stuff in yellow highlighters, just take out the thing in the middle and let it soak in a whatever fluid you want to find leaks, works with brake fluid, power steering, coolant, oil etc..
Scotty, was that the original water pump on your Celica? And, by the way, I bought that same kit from Autozone to find an oil leak. Worked as advertised!
I do advocate using the dyes, as they are very helpful, but for high pressure leaks like pinholes in hoses the pressure testers are a tad more reliable. You can also use both in unison for an easier time finding small leaks. We actually rent out a very good quality pressure tester as well as additional adapters at O'Reilly Auto, and it ends up being free once you bring it back. Can't beat that!
Scotty, first of all I love your tutorials! You are great! Question, how to detect if a low coolant is related to a head gasket problem? I usually check for exhaust in the coolant, but more clues? Thank you?
Hi scotty, love watching your videos. My 2000 saab 9-3 is leaking coolant, it’s not over heating, but I got up this morning and it was empty. Can’t find the leak.. my son Saadi he smells this weird smell like coolant, or almost burnt smell, i ve changed the hoses that lead to tank, I changed head gasket seal. what could be the problem. engine light is on, went off fir a while. I love my car, tried to maintain it, but this has been going on since I changed the radiator this summer, help me please
Scotty Please shoot a video,How to change water pump and use this Toyota as an example because my Corolla 1990 is facing the same issue and i don't know how to change it.
My coolant is leaking from underneath my radiator. I quick check by an auto person who crawled underneath told me that. Plus you can see it dripping below the radiator. So that would pretty much be the radiator correct?
My vehicle keeps getting hot when I'm idle I have changed my water pump I have also replaced the wire for fan,the thermostat and the fan relays the fan seems to work but I'm not sure why im still trying to over heat?
You can rent a pressure tester from an Auto part place, and they will give you the money back when your done using it. They rent for 75 bucks. Test the radiator cap too.

Thank you so much dude! I didn't even know they had something like that!
What would you recommend to fix tiny hairline crack in the seam of the plastic radiator?
Real nice Scotty....You gave us all not one middle finger, but two! 1:12

Thank you scotty. I couldn't find my coolant leaks until I saw this video. Watching from Jamaica 🇯🇲
I'm finally learning how to work on my own car and this video is exactly what I was looking for. You are awesome!
Scotty perfect timing!! My coolant spewed out just yesterday when I pulled back into my college campus in my 97 camry. I appreciate you so much!
Your videos are some of the best around! I have been watching your videos for a couple years now and thanks to you have so much more confidence working on my own vehicles. Keep it up!! 👍👍
I love this guy @scotty Kilmer. What a blessing to have in our car life dealings.
if you cant find any leak make sure to check the exhaust for smelly water vapor/steam. also check for dye in oil
Double-flip off at 1:12! (kidding)
I didn't even freaken notice it.
yep lol
test
Probably done subconsciously to those modern BMWs...
he was doing that specifically to.....YOU!
Will this dye show if coolant leaking into a cylinder (because of a bad head gasket) and burning through the tailpipe?
You gotta love Scotties video short but thorough and easy to follow

Where did you find the dye ?
Excellent, I love learning something without having to watch a 1/2 hour video!
For all you rotary peeps out there (me being one) this works if you have an external coolant leak. If its inside the rotor housing then fire up that rebuild. Good video None the less.
I've borrowed pressure testers at autozone before. But the fact that you can see where the leak is coming from is awesome with these dyes.
We're glad you came back

scotty . youre dope. continue duing youre shows they are teaching valuable lessons in life. you my friend are saving lives. foreal foreal
Great Vid Scotty. Those Glasses are great for Coolant & AC Leaks. Really help, better than UV dye and Blacklight
I've stumbled on a vid or two from you in the past, but I just finally realized how freaking awesome this your channel is. These vids are great!
I’ve been subbed for yrs. The man is amazing. I’ve learned so much 😂
What a perfect time for you to upload this video, noticed coolant getting lower and lower this week.
Youre awesome man going to check for a leak this definitely helped me!!
Thanks Scotty! Always a big help 👍
Haha.. immediately liked the guy and subscribed. Haven't even gotten halfway through. But as a former tech myself, can appreciate him.
Scotty gave us the double bird showin us those fancy yellow glasses 😂😂😂😂😂
Yes! This is what I been thinking of, I knew there had to be a better way. But Scotty what if my coolant is leaking through the head gasket do you think I'll still be able to see it? thanks
Nice video for a relatively inexpensive tool! The same technique is used for locating A/C system leaks (UV die mixed with the A/C oil).
How much dye do you put in? It looked like you only put in a little.
Scotty Kilmer is like that one crazy uncle who can fix anything that breaks
Thanks bro when I have a little problem with my car/truck I look. You up and he gets to the point!

I don't like the car talk videos and I never watch them but these are pure gold.
Had one of those quick connect fittings leak. it would only leak when the pressure was off the system. A pressure tester was useless in this case.
Damn, Scotty's savage @ 1:11
Scotty, was that the original water pump on your Celica?
And, by the way, I bought that same kit from Autozone to find an oil leak. Worked as advertised!
Thanks Scotty Looking good with these "Bono" glasses.
This is so helpful, golden nugget!
I like scotty and in this particular video he got me crackin up because he seems like he has put a few brewskies down first...good video scotty!
I appreciate your videos there never long and extra
The way he shouts one line at a time makes this sound like the Blox advert from GTA 3: Vice City radio.
I'm Welsh - it's great for spotting leeks

I'd like to know why the coolant leak started to happen immediately after I took to one of these oil change shops. Now my car is in big trouble
This guy is nuts and that's why I only do what he says.. 🤣 love you Scotty Kilmer!!
Scotty always has the answer!!!

Great videos. Always straight to the point
Scotty, you’re awesome.
How much dye do u put in the radiator? I have a jeep liberty so I'm gonna put it in the resavoir tank
Putting the glasses in front of the camera lens was genius.
over the years kilmer somehow became the go to guy any time i had car issues lol
They call him Flipper, Flipper, faster than lightning, No one you see, is smarter than he
Hey Scottie, where was paradise? Looked like the west coast of Mexico near Punta de Mita. And thanks for another informative video.
Thanks Scotty
I love this guy man
That good ol' Toyota, glad it was only a water pump, keep on going to 300k miles!
Do u have to take out the whole coolant after or will the dye affect it
Great advice Scotty.
I paid for a pressure test at Firestone. They said it wasn't holding pressure. I said I know.
Big help they were...
I like the video. Will the dye potentially cause any problems?
Scotty, first of all I love your tutorials! You are great!
Question, how to detect if a low coolant is related to a head gasket problem? I usually check for exhaust in the coolant, but more clues? Thank you?

Does it work for humans as well?
does the dye still work properly if added to the coolant overflow tank initally instead of the radiator cap
Thank you 🙏 Scott
Just got one of these kits....is was $23! Inflation is must out
Of control a 100% increase in 3 years
Love this guy !! Thank you sir !
Thanks Scotty!
Greetings from Indonesia! Nice video I learn a lot about car bro
Scotty is running for president in 2024
Did Scotty kilmer give his fans the 2 finger salute at 1:13 😲🤣😂
Thanks, you're a very helpful maniac
Scotty, How many miles does your celica have?
240 thousand miles, original engine and tranny, runs like a top, ac is ice cold even in hot humid houston
Scotty Kilmer toyota reliability.. im thinking about getting a 2018 camry V6.
Get the white one with black roof + red leather seats. Looks awesome and also 300Hp too.
The 4 may be a little more reliable.
LifeHacks4All has like around 240k
My vehicle keeps getting hot when I'm idle I have changed my water pump I have also replaced the wire for fan,the thermostat and the fan relays the fan seems to work but I'm not sure why im still trying to over heat?
