FYI, the Casio A168 actually has a stainless steel bracelet and caseback. But has a chrome-plated resin case, which is surprisingly durable according to my six year old one. 👍
Honestly the little retro chrome Casio's are way classier and cooler than they should be in the age of "smart watches" yet here we are, wearing them anyway
If you wear cologne could you do a list of the top 5-10 colognes? Like year round colognes, seasonal colognes, designer brands vs. Off brand? I don't know if cologne is something you wear but a list of some professional scents would be great! Just an idea
Yeah it's not a real dive watch. A real dive watch needs to have lume that goes more than 5 mintues. As a diver, I would never wear such a watch like that.
@@maxalmonte14idk if you’ve ever worn one on wrist, but I have a daily small wrist and the Duro looks just fine on my wrist. Made some mods to it which probably helps such as a sapphire crystal, and metal bracelet but nothing that’s changed the size of the case. Hope this helps.
I think swatch is THE fashion watch. They're doing their own thing, not pretending and they proud of it. Not always the best but it's a "second watch".
I’ve had a Timex Weekender and a Timex Expedition. They both ticked so loudly that I could hear them from across the room. I’ve heard that Swatch watches have the same problem. The only workaround I found was to only wear them outside. I think there are quieter quartz watches in that price range, but for me the noise was a dealbreaker.
You can also add the Mission Impossible watch. The Casio DW-290-1V. It has 200 meter water resistance which you can use for swimming and diving. For movie geeks this is a good under 50$ watch!
The Timex expedition scout with a leather strap is my daily driver. Fantastic watch for the money. I had a weekender as well but the tick of that one is very loud. Wore it once while hiking and ripped the crown off while taking of my backpack. So back to my scout it was. Also listened to the podcast that you did on niche pursuits. Love your work!
Yeah, I'd agree with a lot of people here that the Casio Duro is a no brainer in the dive watch category. Timex and Casio unsurprisingly will dominate the under $50 category. You will be hard pressed to find anything better than what these brands offer.
Everywhere I've seen the weekender chronograph it's at least $120 so I don't know where you are seeing this for under $50 the regular Timex weekender is $33 on Amazon right now
I really like the Casio aq 230, its a hybrid watch, kind of quirky, looks really good if you put it on a leather strap, I recommend black -> black leather strap silver + white face -> brown leather strap
I recently turned 21 and was given the watch my dad passed away in his favorite watch it's a Chevy ss watch with a silver case it's gotten me back into watches and sneakers and shit
Thank you for this video. Just getting into watches - and poor! Shame that the invicta 8936 only comes in gold or 2-tone band, too gaudy for my style (have 6" wrist, so 40 mm is my size limit). At the moment wearing my weekend watch, the $12 Casio F-91W.
If you are smaller wristed easy readers are available in 35 mm with or without day and date. You can just get a NATO and throw it on there. It is a little different than a weekender but not much.
HMT pilot and Janata mechanical watches are awesome Under 40 us dollars!! Genuine hmt watches can only be purchased on their official website though,so limited availability
Do you think Denacci is considered too cheap? Would love a watch enthusiasts opinion. I've had it since I was attending school but since it's a Quartz the battery stopped so someday I have to change that. I don't really care for super flashy watches so as long as it looks classy and is functional I'm perfectly fine with it. The same model is actually selling on EBay for about $100.00 but I got mine for around $30 or $40 so I hope mine is authentic and not fake.
I would definitely take the invicta over the casio duro, unlike what most people feel. It wears better on a smaller wrist since the duro is a ridiculous 44mm in size. If I'm diving, I would prefer a larger watch, but the lume on the Duro is garbage so it is basically a fashion watch with some water resistance. The invicta isn't better, but at least it sits on my wrist better.
The only people who recommend the Timex Weekender are people who have never owned one. The loudest ticking watch I have ever owned. Good luck sitting in a quiet classroom or library. Literally had to throw the watch away because I could still hear it ticking in my closet dresser and it would bug me when trying to fall asleep.
I’ve had Timex for years and the ticking doesn’t bother me. Don’t get me wrong I’d rather NOT have the ticking but for me it’s not a dealbreaker. Although if I were to recommend it I’ll make sure I’ll let people know the ticking might be an issue
I own a A168 Casio and I like how easy is the bracelet to adjust. I lost a lot of weight in last months but I was ale to adjust the bracelet using fork.
@@michaelvicente308 what did you mean by saying subseconds variant.i also want to buy a weekender but i am not sure whether it will annoy me a lot because of the loudness
I think including a ton of Timex (basically unavailable outside of North America) while completely ignoring any and all Chinese brands is outright bizarre in this price range.
I once saw a Timex watch on clearance sale on a site for less than 10 dollars. Ordered it and that thing had a dial I have never seen at that price point. Of course, had to throw the shit bracelet and get a leather strap for the watch. But that was the first watch I really loved and that watch is the reason why I love dressy watches rather than sports watches.
I’m just at the point where I don’t want anymore cheaper sub 100-300 dollar watches, I’d rather just put a bit of money aside for a while and buy a luxury watch that I’ll never take off

It is pretty and versatile… but I sold mine because of the extremely loud ticking and the seconds hand not hitting the markers.
This is an underrated channel
Just bought a Casio A158 yesterday. I own several more expensive timepieces but still appreciate having a 20 bucks watch on the wrist.
FYI, the Casio A168 actually has a stainless steel bracelet and caseback. But has a chrome-plated resin case, which is surprisingly durable according to my six year old one. 👍

Some of the transparent versions do certainly appeal to my early-2000s kid side, can't deny that
First video and love the precise information and quality picture and stats of each watch. Also love each is linked. Thanks!
Someone might have said this already but a Casio Duro may be a more favorable dive watch than the Invicta.

Thanks for the video Brock! Do one under $200! ♥
Super list! I feel like the Timex Ironman gets overlooked. My 38mm version does everything I need it to do and is always on my wrist, especially now.
"It has a calculator!" Ha! Made me laugh!
Nothing beats Casio or Timex when you're looking for a cheap watch.
I’ve had a Timex Weekender and a Timex Expedition. They both ticked so loudly that I could hear them from across the room. I’ve heard that Swatch watches have the same problem. The only workaround I found was to only wear them outside.

I have a small wrist. Is timex expedition a good pick?
The Scout 36 would be an excellent choice.
You can also add the Mission Impossible watch. The Casio DW-290-1V. It has 200 meter water resistance which you can use for swimming and diving. For movie geeks this is a good under 50$ watch!
I have the expidition scout and I don't like 2 things.
- shakey second hand
- flat watchface, not a single marker is raised even by paint

The Casio Duro can be had for just under $50. The absence of Seiko is telling, as their prices seem to be up on everything.
Good call! Yeah, Seiko dominates the under $500 market, but under $100? Not so much...
Timex Easy Reader all the way. $35. Can't go wrong!
Nice, straight to point
I've been wanting a watch without a face just a bracelet shaped like a watch but the face has no clock just solid metal
