I love it! I've also learned alot about microns and diamond sprays and different steels. I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to put these videos out...
Thank you for this video Sir! Added some normalcy to my life for 20 minutes and I am sure everyone watching feels the same after a couple of crazy weeks in the world.
10:12 I have a family member that's worked in construction his whole life and always carries budget folders eg. cabelas, gerber etc. because he beats the hell out of em'. I gave him a folder in maxamet over a year ago and still going strong, even after chopping through drywall and lots of other things you normally wouldn't cut with a knife. As always great video!
Just saw your video om the PM 2 S30V - fully serrated - thx .I used to work for a cable company , for almost a year doing a special project where we had to go into peoples yard and clear overgrowth and such to run fiber . I also have a PM2 S30V fully serrated - that now needs sharpening - but I can tell you that in that situation the fully serrated knife worked very well for me as I was able to cut through rope , vines , small branches ,tape , etc - clean it off and still cut up my apple everyday at lunch .I don't think I could do that with any of my plain edge knives , without constantly touching up the edge . I also have a few PM 2's in different steels -my favorite knife , I love a plain edge knife for the most part , but there is definitely a place for serrated edges - in my opinion .

Really going to be helpful for the handful that love super steels and were able to order one! Or both colors...mine is satin, kinda match the K2. Have a blessed weekend Michael!!
Minein satin is incoming (REC dont ship to UK so have sent to a friend in Washington) this was perfect viewing while I wait. I recently did an 8 country road trip. This class of steel is perfect for a no fuss EDC because sharpen at beginning and it's still doing its job at the end. Great upload :-)
Sounds like some good stuff. I got a k390 PM2 a couple weeks back because of both you and BBB's videos on it. I havent gotten a chance to really beat on it yet, but in normal use, I'm really liking it a lot!
Long week of work made me miss this exclusive completely. Didn’t even know about it until they were sold out. Of course the one good chance I had to grab an exclusive is the time I wasn’t paying attention to the knife world. Lol

Mine has shipped from REC can’t wait! This video has so much great information in. I truly lack the skills to sharpen 10v will have to send it to a professional to get a edge like yours. How do you think the 10v will compare to Rex 45? Thanks!
Nice video Mike! I just picked up a PM2 myself. How do you like the OCB 2k stone? Are they out for the general public? I really want one of those stones LOL!
Really enjoy the videos. Was wondering if you could recommend stones for M4? Maybe like a beginners guide to stone selection? It’s a work knife, but I’d like to get it to shaving sharp. Thanks.
Great video Michael . I dont know if I ever mentioned but with my venev stones I use a sabitoru coarse rust eraser to clean the metallic marks off and gives a fresh clean surface without taking much of the stone off compared to a SiC stone and really lets the stone last as long as possible...which hasn't even worn or dished much that I can even tell after at least 100 sharpenings. I get my 10v para Monday...cant wait. Kinda wish I got a coated too now though Iol
Michael Christy I currently have Chosera stones but I’m looking to get into a set of diamond stones to use with my harder super steel knives. I’m thinking about going with the Venev stones, what are your thoughts on that? What grit combination stones do you recommend? Thanks for making these videos to man, I’ve learned a lot from you.
Hey Michael, love your videos. Just snagged one of these up on the secondary market for a decent price. I have a question, what compounds are you using right now? I've had my 0.5 hand American spray for a long time and it's good but I want to get a few more grits. Right now I'm looking at Jende poly diamond or Ken Shwarts CBN. Which would you recommend or would it be something else? Thank you and take care.
I use a Lansky sharpening system, will the stones be able to sharpen Spyderco's Rex 45??? THANK YOU for the follow up information and your excellent and informative videos.
Thanks for the review, I tried hard to get this model talking with rivers edge it's too bad they don't ship to Canada I'm really missing out on this modeI i was so wanting 10 v in a pm2
Hey John. I happen to know where one extra is, at least at this moment. In satin. If you hit me up soon enough. I'll personally make sure to get you one. Just email me.
I'm still in talks with rivers edge. Hopefully on Monday when the owner is in we can figure something out if not I will have to look on the secondary Market
likewise, i use venev ocb stones but recently i acquired the 2000# F ocb stone but idk , they suggest the lap the stone before use and i didnt and the finish got many random scratches witch i dont understand cause from 1200#F it was very uniform with great scratch pattern.. I just finished lapping and going to use it to see if it gets better (not like its any problem cause in therms of edge performance its great) Have you encountered same result? ( I mean irregular scratch pattern) Thx for review of pm2 10v
The big difference. At least for the end user between k390, and 10v. Is k390, has a much a good bit less vanadium carbide. Though the other carbides also contribute to wear resistance. Just not quite as much.
I feel like the finish on the blade itself is a little rough, or is it the nature of the steel and how the graining is formed. There are noticeable vertical striations
I got para 2 with M390 steel, how it is comparable to CPM 10V? My factory edge is not great and I'd love a pro to take care of it, how to reach out to you? :)
How is the 10V in regards to corrosion resistance? Live in Florida and take all my knives in and out of the water. Thanks great video! I can’t find the knife anywhere! I went to rivers edge, no go.
Michael Christy Thank you! Is the steel you suggested as sharp as 10V? I have a Spyderco H1 salt series knife folder and one in a fixed blade-they are sharp, but don’t hold an awesome edge.
Pippinm7 almost any knife can get “sharp”, that’s not a good descriptor. “How easy does it sharpen” and “how well does it hold an edge” is what you should be asking. Lc200n is pretty much stainless and will hold an edge very long. Also, it’s relatively easy to sharpen compared to the crazy ones like s110v.
Hi Michael. I wanted to ask your opinion on something. I made a decision to buy a cpm 4v spyderco (making the decision is one thing, finding it in stock is another.). Anyhow, they have two versions from what I can see; coated & not coated. Your thoughts👍👎? The coated has the compression lock, which I hear is better. Also, one more thing = I like what I’ve heard about cpm 4v, it’s one of those miracle type, or close to those types, for the edge retention & also really tough. But falls in the so so department for rust. I wanted to hear your opinion on a twin steel (or close to twin) except strong in the “non rust” department. (My first thought was elmax, but you would definitely know best!) thanks!
Michael, thx for video. Could you help me understand your comments between 1:14 and 2:00 where you quote Crucible Data Sheet listing for 10v Vanadium at 9.75% then conclude "CPM 10v has 17% Vanadium Carbide" ? Thanks,
The 9.75% is the vanadium content by weight prior to heat treat, the 17% is the vanadium CARBIDE that's distributed through the matrix following heat treatment
Love your videos! Hey I just bought the Venev ocb Stones. When I get to the 2 to 3 micron stone I can’t get it hair whittling without stroping. Do the stones need more break in ? I can get the same steels whittling right off the spyderco ultra fine.
Thanks for helping to get this done! Now if yall could start rallying for a completely stainless pm2 in vanex I'd be all over it! We now have the best of tool steels let's get the best of stainless!
Hey Mike , thanks for making some great videos . I just watched a video on your Millie in 52100 , and since I just ordered a PM2 in 52100 - partially serrated edge and was wondering what you recommend to keep the serrated edge sharp ? I have a Spyderco sharpmaker and also some ceramic rods ...
Please do a sharpening instruction video... I have been using the wicked edge for years but would really like to learn to hand sharpen like you do... Newbs like me need some real specific instruction lol.
Michael Christy I know that 😄👍 I have PM 2 and 3 in Maxamet and Military in S90V 😎 Is the V10 a better steel Then Maxamet on the PM2 platform. Wear risistance etc?
Been waiting on this knife and your review of it. I love my K2 and am glad you, PM2OG and others pushed for this steel in the PM2. I hope Spyderco will consider making a production or sprint version. Thanks for your insights on steels and sharpening. They’ve been a great help.
Long time no see brother. Great vid as always. Have watched every single one of your videos and would like to ask if you could make a vid with just tips for the sharpener, mentoring us a bit.🙏
Any chance of doing a test between the 10v and another steel or two to show where the 10v stands in relation to them? I passed on the 10v pm2. I dislike compression locks for multiple reasons I won't get into here. I have several pm2s and just don't like to carry it over other spyderco designs like most of spydercos backlocks or frame/liner lock models. In any case i hear there may be a few more models in 10v that will be out later this year. Hopefully none of them will be compression locks or fat bulky knives (for example manix2(great knife just too big for me to carry everyday)). I have an a11 mule team and its done well in cutting massive amounts of cardboard at home. I would like a Delica or endura etc in 10v or even a11. Not sure why they made an a11 mule but didn't make any models with the steel other than possibly supply/price or popularity.
I love Supersteels, but using lots of basic high carbon steels recently... MAN its nice being able to re-shape a damaged edge on 5k stones xD (obviously sarcasm)
When the pre-order was out I asked triple B Shawn if he was picking one up. I'm not sure if he wanted to or not but he told me he was. Figured with his work with 10v he can offer insight on this run. Since 10v is not exactly mainstream at the moment, his expertise is unmatched. He has the ability to hardness test at his convenience. In my use with the k390 pm2 I've had nothing but a great experience. Don't think I'm alone with that mind-set. Even at a lower hrc than the police4 I feel they hit a home run with how it performs. For 160 bucks in satin I don't think anyone has a right to complain with cpm 10v in their hand.
@@ericblade8330 rivers edge sent Mike a test sample before the pre-order went up for sale. They listed the pre-order price at 160 for satin, 170 for dlc. I'm in a different state so I wasn't charged sales tax. Does that make sense dude? The run was sold out in a few hours and at that price u can understand why.
in one part of the video, you say that K390 and 10V are in the same family and are rather close in performance. In another part of the video, you say that this version of the PM2 is really the one that you want. Meanwhile, the K390 PM2 has been out for a while. If K390 and 10V are so similar, why have you been dying for this version of the PM2
JoshSethG 10V and K390 are very similar. A lot of us in the community have been waiting for PM2’s (and similar models) to come out in these steels for a long time. These models have finally arrived, and I’m very pleased to see them come out. I’ve carried and used the K390 PM2 a lot, and I’m very happy with both releases. I picked up both, not only to support the releases (as both were exclusives), but also because I don’t know if we’ll see this kind of knife/steel combination again anytime soon.
I had a beef with the way pm2 looks and how much of the cutting edge is wasted on the forward choil when so much handle is available for grip. And than I realized I have no other knife that works so well when I have big work gloves on. Everything falls in place. Grip length, choil suddenly is useful, back lock is easy to use - even for glove wearing lefty. Still, just looking at it it’s ugly.
Mike, i'm a t-shirt dude myself. always looking for a better T. Seeing you wear the same shirt alot, I gotta ask what brand of t-shirt you roll with brotha?
Oops, what's up Michael, what's the difference between 10v & s110? obviously yes I can't do my own research and find out the answer to that question, I'm more interested in getting your opinions on that. Thanks brother thanks for the video
Okay you already answered my question back in August of 2016 you made a video 10v compared to s110v. I would assume all those opinions still stand today
Mike did you see BBB on Instagram being challenged to a knife cutting competition and he RAN AWAY from a challenge Didn’t know Shawn for a scared type.. he banned the guy who challenged him i thought we were gonna see him finally back up the loud talk.. and he ended up being nothing more than a pretender :( did y’all follow that?

Nathen Wallis right on. K390 is a beast.
Really excited to get mine early next week! Rivers Edge Cutlery did a good job with rollout and having enough available on this exclusive.

Busa Rider yeah, try dropping the pivot back a hair and see if that doesn’t take care of it. Glad you like the channel.
Excited to this video along with my shipping confirmation from Rivers Edge. Thank you

Rec really needs to make a 10v manix2. It's literally the knife I most want made currently.
The pm2 is the king of ergonomics and this particular steel in a pm2 has been long overdue. Great video on your experience handling and sharpening such an anticipated blade.
Another great video, Mike!
Impressive as always. Respect.
Curious as well if you followed their suggestions on the site and lapped the 2k before use.
They just dropped a para 3 in 10v today. Dlc version 👍🏻
I live next to Rivers Edge Cutlery. Little did i know how close i was the later i got into knives.
Awesome
Did you get one as well? I want to see if this can best the k2 in the rope cut
Michael Christy, I have sharpen my military s110v and I have scratched my blade. What can I do to remove those scratches?
Nice skills - Sir!
I would like your take on burr removal, edge trailing vs edge leading on a stone? Some guys run the blade through wood but IMO I don't think that's effective.
Excellent observation regarding average users getting the full life out of an edge. I sharpened a butcher knife my father loves to use when he cooks. Just the improvement to the edge geometry has given the edge more longevity than he'll need. Meanwhile, I'm annoyed when my edc knife isn't sticky sharp to the touch.
dfailsthemost lol, I know what you mean.
Thank you for covering this knife. I cant wait to get mine. I dont know a lot about 10V and this answered many questions. Thanks again.
Hows does it compare to M4? I am always looking for a steel that does not easily chip. thanks
Mine has shipped from REC can’t wait! This video has so much great information in. I truly lack the skills to sharpen 10v will have to send it to a professional to get a edge like yours. How do you think the 10v will compare to Rex 45? Thanks!
Randy Kurtz I think 10V will be similar to Rex 45 in a couple ways, but with better edge retention.
You are good. 👍 10v vs. K390 vs. M4; edge retention & toughness? 4 inch length, 1/8 thick fixed blade, which steel would you prefer?
Ramon Rodriguez depends on the build and intended use.
Nice video!
Could you sharpen my p3 s30v?
And whats your opinion on the s30v?
Nice vid Michael!

James Gentry stick with diamond.
Do you think chosera stones 400 and 800 would cut the 10v? I know you use diamond but is that all thatl cut it?

Hey Mike , thanks for making some great videos . I just watched a video on your Millie in 52100 , and since I just ordered a PM2 in 52100 - partially serrated edge and was wondering what you recommend to keep the serrated edge sharp ? I have a Spyderco sharpmaker and also some ceramic rods ...
Don’t buy a partially serrated knife. That is a big mistake.
Please do a sharpening instruction video... I have been using the wicked edge for years but would really like to learn to hand sharpen like you do... Newbs like me need some real specific instruction lol.
Do you have/know any coupon codes for their site? Would love to get a new knife and even better if it was with a little discount.
What an edge!
How is it compared to Maxamet?
A Flor I tested that and did a video on it 3 years ago.
Michael Christy
I know that 😄👍
I have PM 2 and 3 in Maxamet and Military in S90V 😎
Is the V10 a better steel Then Maxamet on the PM2 platform. Wear risistance etc?

He. Did. A. Video. On. It. 3. Years. Ago.

I know that - but how is This V10 compared to Maxamet - Wear resistent etc. My Maxamet do not get rust spots. The Rex45 does fast.
Been waiting on this knife and your review of it. I love my K2 and am glad you, PM2OG and others pushed for this steel in the PM2. I hope Spyderco will consider making a production or sprint version. Thanks for your insights on steels and sharpening. They’ve been a great help.
Grabbed two satins, great knife. I'd love to see this under 15 thousandths behind the edge.
Sharp Thinking that would be nice.
We really need a 20cv yojimbo 2
damn good I think they made one. I would rather have a Yojimbo in a tough steel, personally.
Nice...
Do you get all these stones from gitomatic?
Sometimes stone companies send me stuff to review. Sometimes I buy the stuff in my videos.
@@michaelchristy4982 thank you. I just got my first s110v and s90v blades and want to upgrade my setup so I'm looking for new stuff
Do you think it looks promising for Spyderco to use more 10V in their knives?
Jacob White I hope they do.
Jacob White k390 is on the way
Long time no see brother. Great vid as always. Have watched every single one of your videos and would like to ask if you could make a vid with just tips for the sharpener, mentoring us a bit.🙏
Yes please
What am I to do wit my S30V pm2?? This guy must be making money. Bet that s30+35 keep up pretty close. Plz tell us how much
Eric Blade how much what?
He said 160. Spydie wanted 180 for the 110v.
STeeL ToeZ83 160?? Where??
@@ericblade8330 rivers edge cutlery
STeeL ToeZ83 how so cheap? Last i chked, that special 110V was 180+. Guess i need to refigure🔪🍔
Disclaimer *No fingers were lost in the making of this film.
Mike Sowder this is true.
@@michaelchristy4982 ahight now I'm not so sure, I'm not sure about your name.. I sense a conspiracy..🤔
in one part of the video, you say that K390 and 10V are in the same family and are rather close in performance. In another part of the video, you say that this version of the PM2 is really the one that you want. Meanwhile, the K390 PM2 has been out for a while. If K390 and 10V are so similar, why have you been dying for this version of the PM2
Variety?
JoshSethG 10V and K390 are very similar. A lot of us in the community have been waiting for PM2’s (and similar models) to come out in these steels for a long time. These models have finally arrived, and I’m very pleased to see them come out. I’ve carried and used the K390 PM2 a lot, and I’m very happy with both releases. I picked up both, not only to support the releases (as both were exclusives), but also because I don’t know if we’ll see this kind of knife/steel combination again anytime soon.
Another great steel sharpening video. Don’t think we’ve ever seen your wife in a video but I imagine her as having a very bad case of split ends.
The knuck Next Level is the brand. I grab them off amazon.
Hi Michael! Can you please provide a link to northwest knife guys strop
Thank you
Hes on reddit. He posts them for sale on K_S pretty regularly.
Same username, underscores between each word.
Mines on the way doggie
Dang. Sold out. 😤
Is it done and gone or is there any word if they will do another run again?
Maurice Delorenzo on their instagram they said they have another 300 coming.
Mike, send it to your buddy(BBB), he has machine to test HR.
How much bread???
What's up Michael,
Oops, what's up Michael, what's the difference between 10v & s110?
obviously yes I can't do my own research and find out the answer to that question, I'm more interested in getting your opinions on that.
Thanks brother thanks for the video
Okay you already answered my question back in August of 2016 you made a video 10v compared to s110v. I would assume all those opinions still stand today
20v is way better it has 10 more V’s. Got that joke from one of Cedric’s video’s
Mike did you see BBB on Instagram being challenged to a knife cutting competition and he
RAN AWAY from a challenge Didn’t know Shawn for a scared type.. he banned the guy who challenged him i thought we were gonna see him finally back up the loud talk.. and he ended up being nothing more than a pretender :( did y’all follow that?
Meh, 15v or bust
Man, it is sooo boring to listen to your self imposed importance...
