Love your channel and would love a list from you on what steels, angels, and hrc you have observed holding the longest fine edge. A working edge is great and all however, I enjoy sharpening and I enjoy hair popping edges which means I don't carry a blade that can't shave hair. It would be amazing to hear your thoughts/list on this particular topic of holding just fine edge separated from working edge.

Spyderco's CruWear was consistently tested at 64

After some trial and error I found the following combo to give me a very nice edge: Atoma 140, Naniwa diamond 400, 1000, 3000, 4 micron, 1 micron strops. Often times times the Atoma is skipped ofc. My 'on the go' sort of maintenance is a double sided 1000 / 2000-ish Veneev stone when stropping stops working.

I wish they used 10V in more knives, along with K390. Probably the best steels in terms of balance of properties for knife blades.

I own a lot of knives out of the box. This was the sharpest knife I ever owned.

I always thought 204p was comparable to m390.

I have knives in every steel,and honestly,any midgrade with a good heat treat is perfectky fine for edc-My jaoara has been in my rotation fir about a year,and I think MAYBE I've honed it once or twice.In my honesy opinion,blade geometry and thinness behind the edge is really where it's at,and as with mist spydercos,the kapara has both in spades.Maybe not my best cutter,but damn close.The kapara is one of my folders that I cosider a work of art

Very much appreciate your comments on including a fine ceramic alumina stone for a high carbide steel. I like to use a coarse Venev, finishing edge trailing to draw out a keen edge, followed by a few passes edge leading on a Spyderco UF to do near complete deburring prior to the strop.

I ended up finding your videos, because I was searching for a solution to get some frontend sharpness. My edges get sharp, but loose their bite after only a few cuts. The knowledge and skill you have and also shared here on RUclips is phenomenal and inspired to learn more about sharpness and steel types myself. I hope you're doing fine and maybe someday decide to start making videos again.

Incredible footage and sharpness. How does it hold up against cardboard? I notice that my edges loose shaving sharpness almost instantly when cutting cardboard, but still keep a working edge for a very long time after that. But the sharpening nerd in me would love to be able to keep shaving sharpness even after use.

I haven’t sharpened my Para 2 yet, so can’t speak yet on what that will be like. I can say that this thing is chipping with the most basic use of opening boxes and cutting nylon strap. It’s crazy, because I’ve read a lot of guys are not having this issue but have also read that a lot are having this issue. What I think may be happening is that some of these production edges are being over heated during the initial sharpening process thus creating some “lemons” for lack of a better word. Thoughts?
