    Reate makes a great looking knife. It's good to hear the knife is built well also. Thank you.

    YO!!! Carry that puppy for 4 weeks if you'd like to. That is up to you my friend! If you'd like to dabble with it for a few weeks or a month give 'er a go. I'm pretty sure the knife will love it.
    It's great to see the knife put to some hard use on camera! Very good!!

    Great review. I had the original Torrent with m390 and it was a great knife. I'm a huge Reate fan, everything they do is top notch.

      @@michaelchristy4982 bruh, that knife does look sweet. I'm used to all the goofy over the top stuff they do. That looks like more of a workhorse.

      Big Brown Bear yeah, it’s really not bad. And it really takes a nice edge, even at 45 inclusive.

    Who wouldn't buy a "used" knife when Michael Christy simply sharpened and reviewed it. That's "used" lol

    Reate switched from M390 to RWL34 recently for torrent and some other knives.

  • @artby2wenty
    @artby2wenty 6 лет назад +1

    From someone who has been into custom knives since 1999 and have own a bunch in all types of steels (also EDCing them). RWL-34 is easily my favorite. In my option 154cm is not even close, even if they look like they are via specs or at least anything Ive owned with 154CM has been pretty terrible.

    • @49giants3
      @49giants3 6 лет назад +1

      Artby2wenty 154cm and cpm154 are different.

    • @artby2wenty
      @artby2wenty 6 лет назад +1

      Yes. Still don't like either.

    • @49giants3
      @49giants3 6 лет назад

      Artby2wenty oh ok thanks for the reply. I’ve never tried either 154. But I’ve heard nothing but positive things about rwl34

  • @alannemtsev9651

    You should get a Lil Nilakka...that super thin zero grind with the rwl34 is a wicked slicer... especially once you get your hands on it

      Alan Nemtsev I think I’m a little late for that party. What did they RC those at? I’m curious.

    I'm a friend of Travis' and I've also got a torrent I can loan ya if you'd like to spend some more time with it.
    I don't mind if you put it through some hard use!

    I want a reate in this steel. Have you tried cpm154? How does it compare. I feel like the cpm steels are not as good as their carpenter or European counterparts. I could be wrong. I’ve just has several knives in 20cv and it sharpens closer to S90v than M390. I feel like M390 is more fine grained. Again could be wrong. Would like to see you sharpen some 20cv

    • @bp-hx9ts
      @bp-hx9ts 6 лет назад

      Matthew Forrest m390 is a 3rd gen powdered steel so it should be a little bit better then 20cv but the 20cv you sharpened could just be soft

    Great looking knife, titanium frame lock flippers just scream "high end". I had my eyes on Pekka Tuominen RWL-34 puukko some time ago, but i didn't pull the trigger because i soon would have to eat oatmeal 3 times a day because of all the knives. coming in 😄.

    You should try knives from Kizer those are good too and less expensives.

    High quality and great looking knives but definitely overpriced , especially for something that is made in China!

    • @michaelchristy4982
      @michaelchristy4982  6 лет назад

      Tsosmits777 Tsakous so if the same knife was made somewhere else the price would be fine?

    • @tsosmits777tsakous9
      @tsosmits777tsakous9 6 лет назад

      Michael Christy No ! What I'm saying is that prices should be lower because labor costs and oparating expenses are lower there and Companies based in Europe like lionsteel and Manly make the same quality knives with almost half the prices of Reate knives .

    • @cristian4219
      @cristian4219 4 года назад

      I am from italy and i tell you something...lionsteel doesn't make knives with the same quality level like reate im sorry to tell you this...and a lionsteel knife with the same materials like reate costs 300 + ....so what are u saying there has no sense for me...

      Who cares where it’s made. When quality and performance are at the forefront...what’s the difference? Drink Budweiser? The Chinese own that ....and countless other consumer items. Might be time for a re-think.....
