- This is Our First Time Watching Ghost Rider (2007). Johnny Blaze (Nicolas Cage), a motorcycle stuntman, once traded his soul to save the life of a loved one. Now, at night, he changes into an enraged, vengeful agent of justice, going wherever evil prowls. Johnny is given a mission by Mephistopheles (Donald Logue), a demon who wants to depose him and build a worse hell than the one that already exists, to defeat Blackheart (Wes Bentley), a demon that can traverse both worlds.

38:00 he created basically a vacuum. Vortex = concentrated oxygen, and fire burns oxygen, so he basically stopped him from escaping by creating a vacuum and burning him.

yeah, the original ghost rider (caretaker) but that was sony's movies and i highly doubt garbage -c-u would give us a backstory origins movie that was made by sony. if disney marvel does do an origins movie to it bcuz disney marvel has a working relationship with sony but mark steven johnson should not be involved bcuz that man directed those two ghost rider movies and he sucks ass as a writer and as an director.
I love how they depicted the devil here. He held up his end of the bargain, healed Johnny's dad, and then he was free to do whatever he wanted and he'd still own Johnny's soul

@@thePunisher95125 he's described as the devil in both movies, so that's what I'm going with. Obviously I know who he really is, but I'm going by what explained in the movies. And not really, that's literally what happened. In this movie, Johnny made a deal with the devil that in exchange for his soul, the devil would help his father's cancer. The devil said that he'd be healthy as a horse by the next morning, and he was. At that point, the deal was completed and Johnny's soul belonged to Mephistopheles. He never said anything about ensuring his father lived a long life.

They are two completely different characters. You clearly need to read the comics because that movie fucking lied to you and was completely fucking garbage. It had way to many errors. If you can’t see it then that’s your fucking problem and need to get your eyes looked at.

The story about Ghost Rider is pretty cool. The particular spirit that Johnny Blaze is possessed by is the Spirit of Vengeance... a former angel that was abducted by demons and taken to Hell. Where he was tortured and corrupted. The Angel's name was Zarathos the Spirit of Justice. The spirit chose to stay with Johnny Blaze in the comics.
Zarathos isn’t an Angel. He’s a demon. You may have your stories mixed up.

Gotta check out the second movie. It explains the blue flame on Blaze. Another Nicolas Cage movie to check out (besides Ghost Rider 2) is Gone in 60 seconds. The Ghost Rider skull is Nicolas Cage’s actual skull. They took 3D X-rays and put them into a computer. Prior to this movie he had a Ghost Rider tattoo that they had to cover up for the movie (guess the Ghost Rider having a Ghost Rider tattoo wasn’t a good idea). To create the Ghost Rider's voice they filtered Cage’s voice through three different kinds of animal growls (played backwards, covering three separate frequencies), then played them through a mechanical volumizer, before finally giving them a fiery crackle.

In the comics there are two kinds of ghost riders. One is possessed by a spirit of vengeance which is orange flame. The other is an angel rider, and they have blue flames.
Orange flame-zarathos,king of hell.
Blue flame-zadkiel,king of heaven.
Power level is almost same.

@@partenairedemasterofclans8358 The sequel's got some good moments, like Nic Cage being freed from his *cage* and actually acting insane, or some of the action scenes were decent, like the quarry fight with Ghostrider using a transformed quarry digger. But other changes they made kind of hinder the movie and chances of a sequel after, like the Devil's plan taken from Ghostbusters 2 or making Danny Ketch, the Blue Flame Ghost Rider, a little kid and the Devil's son, or a completely wasted Idris Elba as support- not just because he was drinking wine in his scenes. Also, the editing is enough to give you a migraine.

This movie was one of my favorites back when I was a kid. The scene where Johnny and Carter Slade both riding together is awesome, Modern and Feudal era side by side

Yes I agree,just not Robbie Reyes from agents of shield, because I did like him in agents of shield but after watching that whole complete season of him, most people were convinced that he's more powerful than Johnny blaze and thats what pisses me off the most,like Robbie Reyes doesn't even have the spirit of vengeance in him like most of the other ghost riders do.

For me personally Robbie Reyes is the weakest version of ghost rider,and yet he still killed all the Avengers all by himself.Just imagine what the strongest version of ghost rider can do if the weakest can do that.Like ghost rider is literally an Avengers level threat,dude can even defeat Thanos even with all the stones.
@@markcruz359 in the comics he uses the spirit of his evil uncle , so he's basically just any other powerful demon , but in agents of shield he explicitly gets the spirit Zarathos from johnny blaze , so the mcu already fixed that problem and his last scene was going to fight in some multiversal war and he agreed to settle all of the ghost rider spirits (Zarathos ) veangeances , and presumably he went and fought mephisto and lost but there's no reason we can't have all three team up , in the comics it happens alot

I love how they did the graphics for the Penance Stare, as well as the mechanics of it. Turning someone's sins around on them and burning out their eyeballs in the process is a worse fate than death, in my mind.
I love the way they portrayed the penance stare in the movie, but in the comics its alot faster and it only requires a split second of eye contact

Ghost Rider was one of those comics that came out of the early 70s that was just weird, campy and kinda trippy. I discovered him when my Mom's friend gave me 3 paper grocery bags full of comic books. Ghost Rider issues were many of the ones in there. He became my favorite dark hero, next to Batman.

In order for the fire to exist, it has to consume air when I turn the chain, it had fire in it. Arsobio, the demon is made of air, its entire body, in addition, this infernal fire burns more strongly in the normal game.
The Nic Cage Ghost Rider movies had some awesome elements in them and they really embraced the edgy/campy tone, but needed better villains imo, but damn i felt like they really nailed it with the effects and sounds, that felt more horror than typical superhero stuff these days.

In the show Agents of Shield, one of the seasons brings in Ghost Rider and it was so good. I want a solo show so badly.
He was introduced in the first episode of season 4 I think.
@@davidstingray69 They actually planned a solo series for the Agents of Shield version of Ghost Rider but they canceled it before they started shooting. Let's hope there is going to be a RIder in the MCU either as a special or a show on Disney+. Would be nice to see him in a Doctor Strange movie as well but that one's story is going somewhere else.
I suggest you read the comics and you’ll see how this movie was done wrong and how the in AoS was done wrong too. Plus AoS isn’t canon.

I'm glad people are starting to appreciate movies like these. Early 2000's stuff like this movie can be *really* silly, but there's a sense of earnest filmcraft that went into these flicks, like the people behind it were sincerely trying to realize their own vision for the property. It may not have always turned out as a masterpiece, like this movie; but I think a lot of the time it was always a fun ride, which Ghost Rider was and still is in my opinion. These days, liscienced films dogmatically stick to a sort of golden formula for corporate success. I'm tired of watching everyone try to either copy the MCU or the Nolan Batman trilogy. It's... Kinda dull.

People act like the comics were some kind of serious literature. They're fun and goofy and run on the rule of cool, that freedom and escapism is what lets them explore all these over the top stories. I still think Ghost Rider nailed the funtastic melodrama of a comic book in a movie
If you haven't seen Spawn, it's of a pretty similar vein. In Agents of Shield they have a younger version of Ghost Rider, based on a different version from the comics

Mephistopheles was played by late Peter Fonda. Nic Cage is back! He is playing Count Dracula in new movie called Renfield coming out in April.
There were plans for 3rd sequel, but Marvel scrapped it. Marvel use Ghost Rider for the series, SHIELD.
This movie is a little cheesy, but in a lovable mid-2000's Nicolas Cage way and the writers made Ghost Rider get more badass as the movie progresses.
It would be fun to see him again along with Gabriel Luna's Ghost Rider in Secret Wars.
With the new era of mcu, they better do atleast a cameo with this. We need ghost rider in mcu.

I saw this in theatres as a kid with my dad and friend when it came out. I honestly loved it.
When the second ghost rider gets his powers johnny still has some left and rides around with a flaming shotgun , acting as a mentor and older brother to danny in the comics and they could easily have Danny and Johnny team up or have robbie share it with danny while Johnny coaches them , it is 100% confirmed johnny gave robbie the spirit in agents of shield The midnight sons game looks like it's doing something like that lol

I didn't think either Ghost Rider movie was good, but I did love Cage as Blaze.
All the time you wanted Mephisto to show up in WandaVision, and yet it's here in Ghost Rider you finally meet him! (Mephisto = Mephistopheles)
Also the woman he saves early on is Rebel Wilson in her first movie role (not counting the Fat Pizza tv spin-off movie).

Mephistopheles in irl lore was the voice of the devil/the one who made the deals for him but it was his will none the less. Faust was the name of the original person who was tricked into the deal. Although I don't know what he made him do I don't think it is this.🤣🤣

Ghost Rider is kinda underrated nowadays, but would be an awesome addition to the MCU as his powers are magic based. Fyi there is also a non MCU/Netflix version of THE PUNISHER too . From 2004 If you're interested in adding a nother movie to your list 😉
Ghost rider is already in the mcu in agents of shield. The actor who plays tommy in the new The Last of Us show plays him.
@@Sam-jj1dz Oh yeah! Thanks for reminding me. I'm always a little confused about AoS. At 1st it was canon. Then they completely lost it with the storyline. (Inhumans, timeline, etc) Then last season they used some familiar technology for certain purposes which was canon again. At least they got a nice closure though! :)

It uses Cage's acting madness to perfection, adding something of himself with Rider pissing fire and riding a huge flaming excavator destroying everything in sight. I love the duo of Neveldine and Taylor (Crank) and their campy approach to action in their movies.

Ghost Rider was a very under the radar comic book in the seventies. It was so unranked they actually canceled the book with a finale. He then bounced around to other books and even joined support hero teams. It wasn't till the 90's that he got a Resurgence.
For all the flack that this movie gets (and even deserves) there are elements in it to cheer for. And even if you can't bring yourself to cheer for those, I feel the novelization soared where the film crawled. It single handedly turned me into a Ghost Rider fan (well, that and the guy's whole look).
I actually adored this movie and I love Nic Cage as Johnny Blaze. They did recast it a bit on the tv show but we proven we want Cage.

When Mephisto told Johnny his dad would be“healthy as horse” I always felt it like he had Carter Slade in the back of his head referring to a horse, probably still searching for him before he came to Johnny.

I remember "Ghost Rider" being not nearly as bad people were saying. In fact, I thought it was GOOD. I loved Nicolas Cage in this!
Don't know if anyone noticed these 2 things.
1 The woman under the bridge was played by Rebel Wilson
2 With the souls near the end the souls and the camera work looked near enough exactly as it did in Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness, in that scene you could hear a guitar riff too which makes me believe ghost rider will come back soon and in the same universe as Doctor Strange as we've been introduced to the multiverse. Bare in mind I thought of this before secret wars was announced
Fun fact: I worked for a company called Crossroads Performance (no longer in business, sadly), and we made various parts for the stunt bike that jumped the helos (air cleaner housing, gauge pannel, I think the pegs, exhaust heat shields, and master cylinder cover {although it didn't have our logo}). They had 4 or 5 of the exact same bikes, so they were either various props, or some went to specific people as a promotional/thank you gift.

Back in the Golden Age of comics (1930s-1950s), the two main genres were horror and westerns. The original "Ghost Rider" went through several incarnations as a ghostly avenger, something of a western analogue to Batman - in the 1967 reboot, he was named Carter Slade and became a bit more supernatural, given his ghostly outfit and steed by a Native American medicine man named Flaming Star. The Silver Age (1960s-1980s) "Ghost Rider" debuted in 1972 as Johnny Blaze, a motorcycle stuntman possessed by the Spirit of Vengeance. (The original "Ghost Rider" was renamed "Phantom Rider" 'to avoid confusion'.)
While there was a fair amount of retconning (including a mashup between the original "Ghost Rider" and another character known simply as "The Caretaker"), the short 'passing the torch' segment (43:50 in your video) made it all worthwhile!

This movie may not have been the best but I vividly remember when this came out, everyone in our country was referencing the penance stare for years lol. This also made Nicolas Cage a household name for us.

of the main characters in the popular TV series Yellowstone and that the Caretaker character (Sam Elliott) is in the prequel to that series in 1883....
yeah its campy but its so nostalgic for me I hope they bring him back for at least a cameo. Norman Reedus has said that he's down to play ghost rider and it would be sick to see him as ghost rider along side John Bernthal punisher there's a sick moment in the comics where ghost rider uses the penance stare on punisher and i t doesn't work because he doesn't feel any guilt for the people he's killed so badace.
Because of this movie he became my favorite Marvel character, just because of how badass he is

I remember watching Avengers Infinity War/Endgame and thinking how awesome it would have been if Ghost Rider got involved. Imagine the Devil not getting the souls that Thanos snapped away and sending his Ghost Rider to find who was responsible for taking them.
Ghost rider would still win against Thanos (even with all the stones),cause ghost rider has no soul that can be taken away from him and also, ghost rider is immune to reality manipulation,so the reality stone would be useless and even the mind stone won't work against him,as for the timestone,I guess it would be useful against ghost rider but it still won't be enough to kill him,hence leaving only the power stone and space stone,but power stone's gonna be pretty useless so Thanos's only choice would be to use the space stone to escape.

This is where the fun begins! I like this movie. Even though I love the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider better, this movie introduced me to Ghost Rider all together. The second one was terrible movie, but this one was pretty decent and fun, despite of it being corny lol. Regardless, hope you like it! 🙏🏽

In the comics Johnny has a secret half brother named Danny ketch , and they do use the name danny in the second movie for a character but who cares . He's the second ghost rider in the comics and they could easily have Norman reedus or Keanu play nic cages secret brother lol
They did blend Ghost Rider into Marvels's Agents of Shield which was pretty cool.

The punisher is The Ghost rider in comics and he tries to go back in time to kill Thanos as a baby. It's a small comic chapter but really funny.
He becomes the daddy of Thanos and later regrets that decision very badly.

Story Time! When I was 7 I saw the trailer for Ghost Rider and was just captivated by the character.
The movie released on February 17 which is my Birthday. So for my 8th Birthday I got Ghost Rider toys, the game on PS2, and a Ghost Rider themed cake. Cherry on top, my great Uncle took me to go see the movie that night. I was scared through most of the film and hid in his coat through half the film, but I loved it!
Ghost Rider is one of my favorite superheroes right behind Batman and Spider-Man, and I’ll always love this film because it was the last thing I got to do with my uncle before he died an a car accident later that year. After he passed I remember watching this film on repeat when it came out on DVD until I wasn’t scared of it anymore.
I’ll always associate Ghost Rider with my Uncle, and I’ll always love the character. Thank you both for an awesome reaction to one of my favorite heroes, I’m glad y’all enjoyed it.
Ghost Rider technically already is in the MCU. He was in Agents of Shield, but it was a newer version of him. Though they did show the Johnny Blaze version as well.

I’m not expecting too much irl, but in my dreams, I’d love seeing Wesley Snipes’ Blade, Hugh’s Wolverine, Maguire’s Spidey, Stewart’s Professor X, & RDJ’s Iron Man share some scenes together as pillars of the superhero genre.
It’d be even cooler with Andrew Garfield & Chris Evans. I think at the very least we’re gonna get a big send-off for the FoX-Men before a multiversal soft reboot happens with a new cast of mutants & potentially other heroes we may have already seen.

Sam Elliott and Nic Cage made this movie but the biggest surprise was the cameo from a young Rebel Wilson as the girl he saved in the alley. A very underrated and underappreciated film.

You guys should watch the second movie. The Ghost Rider is insanely powerful he is in some iterations he one-man the whole avengers team like it was nothing, the hulk could not even finish Ghost Rider, he defeated thanos's whole entire army by himself, and the only weapons that can kill him is weapons forged in heaven. His fire is hellfire it's not just regular fire the fire attacks the very soul of the person and bypasses normal defenses. Doctor strange at times it's even scared of the Ghost Rider

Ghost Rider is already in the MCU. Gabriel Luna played the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider in the ABC "Agents of SHIELD" series, which is part of the MCU. He was great. Actually the role itself was much better written then the version written for the films.
