The Beijing strategy is very simple - push everything in HK deep down to the mud and then come victoriously as a hero. Thats exactly what has been happening with Cathay Pacific. The first part of the mission has been successfully accomplished - Cathay Dragon (former Dragonair) doesnt exist anymore. Now the second part comes, kick out Swire and put Air China in charge. Swire business interest in China is far and beyond Cathy and it is vested within the political structure from local gov to central gov...the core business is packaging rn and it is a part of duopoly in Alu packaging...If I am working for CCP, I will make sure cut off HK gov financial support for the Cathy and make sure HSBC/SC wont lend Swire a leg ... Swire will bleed out and forced sell their lucrative packaging business to COFCO or even better China Alu...
push out Swire can be done by no meddling to delay the 2021/2021 refinancing thru HK gov funds is rather stupid if Beijing really want to take over...Hang dry and cut throat dealing is much more prettier method

I had a very nice experience with Cathay Pacific Dubai to HK to Manila. I hope they would pick up and continue to fly.
cathay pacific have many a330-300, 777-300 and 777-300er stored in Alice Springs
I recall seeing some of these birds parked up at Ciudad Real Airport in Spain (LERL), alongside the Cathay Dragon A330s. Great to see them slowly returning to the air.

Unfortunately with the current COVID-19 policy in HK, I don't see a recovery in the near future.
As a One World Emerald flyer, can't wait to fly CX again and visit Hong Kong as it's been almost 5 years since my last visit and 3 years since my last transit through HKG on CX.

I m flying soon on Cathay, But to seee the aiines back in business would need HKG to open up which looks impossible in near future. The airport looks like a haunted place once u do the check in.

This is so magnificent! But this just reminds me of how sad Hong Kong is, still remaining “isolated” from the rest of the world while other airports are restricting the no of flights as there are just too many for them to handle such as Heathrow nowadays

You can get a monopoly as almost no long haul flights are flying direct to HK anytime soon.
There are still a lot of airliners flying to HK for long-haul flights, but no where close to the frequency as before the pandemic.
May I kindly get a job as a cabin crew member. Although I have an irrelevant Film degree I think I can thrive in the aviation industry. I am 29 years old and I am 165cm height-wise. My English is advanced. Thank you.

I love the airline and the spirit of the team trying to get all of this back into the air.
Unfortunately the harsh truth remains that your evil stepmother Pooh-tin and his gang of dipshits will stop at nothing to keep you, and anything emblematic of HK, down for the count . I’m not sure how, but perhaps there’s a chance CX can still manage to outlive your suppressors. I’ll be rooting for you.
