  • This time we will look into collaboration of Home Free and Avi Caplan and their cover of Ring of Fire, popular song from Johnny Cash! This is my favorite performance from them on vocal coach reacts and I honestly love how amazing this combo is! I love when musicians come together and share their uniqueness.

I know Avi and Tim are good friends, but it's so nice to see and hear two of the best bass singers in the world actually performing together. And I know this was recorded at the time when Avi was going thru a lot of personal issues that ultimately led to his departure from Pentatonix, so seeing him smiling and having fun in this video does my heart good, as I feel a real kindred spirit with him.

Yes there's multiple live performances of theirs that you can watch in which Tim went so low that it was shaking the camera recording it and others in which he blew out the speakers. Tim's low register is unbelievable. Avi changing to the cowboy hat at the end was a tip of the hat to Tim who actually gave him tips on how to reach his lower register. There's a lot of respect between them.

He has a couple of songs with Home Free but has several songs with Tim Foust. I think you would love those. He does Misty Mountains (from the movie the Hobbit), Sound of Silence, Greensleeves, Bridge over Troubled Waters and more. To hear great beatboxing and low notes try Do You Hear What I Hear that was arranged by the beatboxer Adam Rupp. It’s tremendous. How Great Thou Art, Auld Lang Syne, Seven Bridges Road, Country Road, Helplessly Hoping for great harmonies. You won’t be disappointed. Keep reacting!

In itself it doesn't, but she associates it with Christmas because it's a Johnny Cash song, and his songs remind her of Christmas.

The low note Tim hit at the end is a G1 growl tone. It does exist on a keyboard ;)

If you would like to feel more vibrations from Tim (with more "color") try reacting to Folsom Prison Blues.

There is a video out of Tim and Peter Hollens singing Greensleeves. Tim uses his octave range very well in that one. The balance between Tim's voice and Peters is interesting. They also do Misty Mountains together.

They came up with this arrangement when they were competing on Season 4 of The Sing-Off. If you haven't reacted to those performances yet, preferably with the judges' comments, you may want to consider doing that. The judges called this country, a capela, reggae.

From the way that she massaged it after the song, Katriinka's jaw did NOT fall to the floor; it actively THREW itself to the floor upon hearing Tim's G1!
