      Out of the many hundreds of Ambassadors that Sony appoint around the world, only a small handful make educational videos. You could ask Sony in your region to appoint ambassadors who are both photographers and educators (like myself) so they can support the Alpha community.

    Thanks - clarified some of my 4 year old A7Rii settings, especially self-timer during bracketing. The display icons do not change when you enable the self-timer in the bracketed exposure mode, and that was very confusing. I honestly didn't realize I could use the self-timer for that mode. This will really help my HDR stack alignment. I am tempted to just get the A7Riv for the sensor dynamic range, but I'll probably just learn how to better use what I have. I put the bracket settings on the down button below the control wheel so they are quickly accessible. BTW, I hate recurring subscriptions. I wish Patreon had a fixed duration option, say 3 or 6 months, but that is not in their DNA.

      Woohoo - 100,000 is certainly a milestone. It is an important number for companies who measure your worth on how much reach you have to the photographic community. The long path to reach 100K is often a labour of love as the revenues from advertising doesn't pay the rent.

    Further to my comments below about acceptable dynamic range within 1 frame, Sony APS-C .
    I just did some tests of an average road and sky photo , early evening.
    I can select out and make an overexposed white sky ok, by to two multiple blends > and
    2. Screen blend the darker [ but not black ] road three times > to get a reasonable photo.
    This was nearly as good as a photo blend of three RAW files, but I needed to add situation.
    I was not working with any total blacks though.
    So I eat words below, Mark probably can work 6 stops in one photo with the big full-frame camera he has.

    Great stuff as always! May I ask what Lo and Mid on Drive Mode would be useful for then over Hi or Hi+?

    • @AlphaCreativeSkills
      @AlphaCreativeSkills  4 года назад +2

      Mid is very useful on an A9 to slow it down from 20 to 10 fps when the decisive moment isn’t that decisive. I sometimes use Lo at demonstrations and parades.

      If things are unfolding quickly you may want to ramp it up to Hi and when actions are unfolding slowly you would want to slow it down unless you want to be looking at a lot of very similar images in post.

    First of all, thx for zour great informativ tutorials in top quality. I looking forward evertime of a new tutorial from you.
    Sorry for my question but can I apply this "drive" mode also in my Alpha 7 Mark III? I miss this some function in the menue and also in the focus mode views. Perhaps I couldnt understand all what you explained, but I tought this mode is also for my camera.
    I've checked also my great German Sony Rederence Book (Bildner Publishing House) for my camera, but also missed comments to this "drive" mode. I would like test this mode also on my fantastic camera. Thanks a lot in advance.

    Hello. The Drive Mode parameter in the menu is gray and inactive. It says that the Self-portrait/ -timer function is disabled BUT I found this function, and it is also gray and does not work. But when I press it, it simply says that it is disabled, but it is not clear how to enable it. And I went there because I have Drive Mode enabled for a 3-second delay in taking a photo, so I am trying to disable it. Help, does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks!

    Thank you very much Mark, for these very informative videos and tutorials. Your photography skills and knowledge is incredible! I must have watched 10 or 15 of your videos before ultimately deciding on the A7III. But I do have a question: I understand and use the custom memory locations (MR 1/2), but from time to time, I use the additional M1 thru M4 memory locations. I just recently discovered that those M1-M4 memory locations are stored on the memory card and therefore are lost when I ultimately reformat my card. My question: Is there a way to store those memory location info onto other media or computer location, then restore them back to a newly reformatted memory card? Or even better, maybe, can the info in those locations be printed or exported in some fashion, so that I can manually input the info and settings into my camera after reformatting my memory card? Thanks

    Does anyone know why continuous bracket mode has to be held down to fire all the shots desired? Just got the a6700, and it is making me hold down. Frustrating. I want to press once, and have camera fire off the brackets. The a6300 doesn't do this.

      Sony never discuss their reasoning behind the changes they make to the firmware. We just have to work with the workflows they provide us with.

    Wish the self-timer had a choice longer than 10 seconds, but after blowing the shot a couple times ( a very pedestrian group shot in which I had to run into the frame) I went to the intervalometer function and just specified one shot after 30 seconds. Camera was on a second-story balcony and I had run downstairs to join the group. No way was I...or anyone...gonna make that dash in only 10 seconds!

    • @paulscottfilms
      @paulscottfilms 4 года назад

      @@paulscottfilms Now I remember I did two, calling out "OK everybody, there will be an extra one in case anyone blinked on the first, ha ha." But it was an unwieldy group of co-workers coming and going at a daylong barbecue, some suddenly with very little time left to stay because a kid began going nuclear or whatever. Like trying to herd cats.
      Even in the 15 minutes of me walking around reminding everyone not to forget we should take a group shot, some people filtered away and a few of the people who stayed for the shot were clearly hurried (politely) and needed to move on. During the countdown after I hustled into the shot, one guy said to everyone "Hey, there's no blinking light on the camera (which there isn't in intervalometer mode). It's not going to take a shot." So in the final few seconds I'm having to say "It will, it will, c'mon everyone, just look at the camera!"
      None of that probably sounds too unusual when dealing with a big, disjointed group, so we did the best we could and still got almost 50 adults in the photo!
