@@bmasontv Ya they messed up. Usually Whoever does the PDI, Pre delivery inspection. is told by a manager to install the locks. Especially the dealers that have spare tires stolen off of trucks on the lot.
That tube is for anything you need to pour into the gas tank, I'm guessing you have a gas without a cap on it, I only found out when I went to pour something into the gas tank and didn't have one of those to hold the opening open
Wish I’d seen this before I spent an hour trying to lower my spare tire feeling like an idiot. It is now stored with my Jack so I don’t do this again. Thanks man!
After two hours of messing around with it on the side of the road I stumbled across this. Thanks!! Sure enough it was in the glove box. Like you say, if they add it put it with the tire tools, I probably would have figured it out much sooner.
Nice to leave out a key tool in the manual that the driver is expected to just know what or where it is... The dealership employees should of said something...
@@bmasontv Part of being professional is knowing your product lines, Trim level details, etc. The dumbass I bought my RT Shaker from a few years back gave me Scat Pack Specs on it ..lol. Thanks man, hopefully it helps somebody out in the future. Who knows, there might be somebody yelling at their spare tire just like I was only to search a video and find this.
bought this truck and have the same issue but no key. I gave the dealership the VIN # and they sold me the wrong key. Said they can't help me. If i can somwhow cut it down they'd sell me a new winch assembly. Now i'm looking for a proper key. Yours looks like it would fit.
At 3:12 you are holding the instructions upside down and in the upper right corner it says, "connect key to jack tool engage lock to key" right above the diagram for it.
Yep... That's kinda part of the joke. The dealership never mentioned anything about the lock. It was a dealership installed accessory. Because I was never informed of it, and frankly because I'd never seen it before and all my years, I didn't even think to look for the packet that was in the glove Box.
I know it’s years later, but would you happen to know what the part number is for that key? Seems to be the same pattern as mine. Bought my truck used and it didn’t have the key in the vehicle. Just found out the hard way.
@@deevo3vp unfortunately there are multiple part numbers because there are multiple keys. If yours was dealer installed, a dealership may be able to help you
I don't have a part number, but you would need the specific part number for the key that you have. You can remove the lock by removing the winch and removing the lock from the cup that the adapter goes into.
That plastic funnel is for capless vehicles, to pour in gas, or like you said, for women to offload ballast. They're also known internally as a "shenis." The more you know!
Prof Mason What did the asparagus say when it got a flat tire. (I should've brought a spare I guess). hehehe,, those Dutch aren't too bright ( Stellantis is a dutch company)
Like you mentioned it should have been passed down in your delivery walk thru, hope you mention this in the survey they desperately want you to fill out with 5 stars.
@@HummingBird_Circle if the winch is still on the truck, the white thing is actually the bell mouthed part of the winch. I haven't seen another color, but it could maybe be that that insert is not white on your truck, maybe it's black. If you crawl underneath the back of the truck and look straight up you should be able to see the bell mouth of the winch
Dude you are a lifesaver man. I've been sitting out there for 20 minutes trying to lower the spare, but it just isn't working. You rock.
Okay, you made me spit my drink out with the “tickle the button and pop it in.” Nice to know this.
The dealer added the lock. The dealer should have told you about it. That's why it wasn't in the owners manual.
If that's the case, then I'm really pissed off because I spoke with the sales manager specifically about it and he had no idea about the lock.
@@bmasontv Ya they messed up. Usually Whoever does the PDI, Pre delivery inspection. is told by a manager to install the locks. Especially the dealers that have spare tires stolen off of trucks on the lot.

I'm happy I was able to help.

I have the same tools (connecting rods) to get the spare tire from under my 2006 Nissan Titan. Thanks for the tutorial professor B!💪🏽

Happy I could help.
My dealer never told me anything about it either. Learned about it with a blowout on the side of Interstate 10.
Thank you so much. Extremely helpful today!

I found out the hard way I just got a 2016 ram it don’t have one. It has a lock on it.
Why would they do this I like the way they did it on the C4 corvette just put a cover over it with a bolt
Mine has a lock but I have no key. What a dumb system.
