Thanks dude! I got a transit connect that has really small tires/rims/clearance hole. I found a slightly smaller splice box that fit. Slightly different but I used the same bolt and cable setup and it worked. I ordered the new one but didnt want my spare in the back of my camper for an entire trip. This was a quick fix.
    Thanks again.

I appreciate the time you took to help out. I did it on my Durango and it worked but the rope was too long so I had to cut it. But I have a spare now.👌

Thanks. Just used this DIY hack for my 2001 Ram 1500. Not that hard if you follow all the steps.

I am curious why you used the quick link instead of putting the thimble through the eyebolt and then running the cable through that? I need to check if the hoist still works in the new to me truck. If it does this looks like the most affordable way to fix this.

I used the quick link just in case I needed to switch out the box. Also, had an idea to attach a Jack under, but that didn’t work out.

@@diy-justlikethat3316 I tried getting the cable to lower on mine, but it won't move, so I guess I am stuck taking off the old hoist and replacing it.

What did you use to tighten the thimbles together? When I google a thimble, it just shows a single piece

But the winch goes up and down ? My winch won’t go up or down ? Why ?

The winch might be busted or tangled up. Try removing to see what's going on. Or if you are near water, you have corrosion. If you can reach it, try spraying some white lithium lubricant or wd40 on it to see if you can get it to loosen up.
