    Thanks for the video!
    I have a Chlebowski feder. I call it “the big Chlebowski”
    I love it!
    The hollow ground blade ensures it’s light but strong. It has very thick edges so it’s not likely to get nicked up easily.
    It’s most unique feature is a peened crossguard that keeps the hilt from loosening up and rattling. The waisted grip is nice and comfortable to hold and the faceted pommel is a nice aesthetic touch.

    I enjoyed your video tremendously and I will happily watch any other equipment reviews that you put out.

    Pavel Moc feders are stellar, handle well, super flexible, look great and last for ages. They're the gold standard at my club!

    It's kinda weird to me regenyei isn't on this list, or chlebowski for that matter. In europe I've honestly almost never seen anybody use anything else than them. They are cheap and well made.

      I have a Chlebowski ordered. The problem is he is still slow with the delivery and bad with contacting you but, at his own pace, he does reply.

    My feder is a Blackfencer synthetic. It's good for solo drilling, and it's affordable for a beginner. Plus I like it

    Hey dude! I don't necessarily agree with everything here, but your reasoning does make sense. I've been thinking of making a similar video for way too long now, and this is just the nudge I needed. Would it be cool if I mention/link you in my video?

    My two feders are Arms&Armor Fechterspiel and Albion Meyer!

    • @jamesreed4229
      @jamesreed4229  4 года назад

      Love the Meyer. Grip is a little small in cumbersome gloves like the SPES Heavies.

    • @catex5452
      @catex5452 4 года назад

      Isn´t the Albion Meyer a blunt sword instead of a Feder? I mean it says feder but the tip doesn´t look very safe and I read it isn´t that flexible either.

    I have one of the early munitions-grade heavy feders mady by Adam Bodorics of Landsknecht Emporium. It has a reverse taper (broader at the tip than just coming off from the schilt), and a good deal of blade mass, and a monstrous handle and a ball pommel. And, it's one unlovely piece of steel all right...
    But I couldn't love it more.
    It has moderate blade flex, just a little stiffer than a Regenyei feder, but a lot more presence in the bind. It is, overall, a very large sword, more blade-heavy than many would like.

      @@jamesreed4229, but it is also incredibly nimble, thanks to that monstrous handle... which is also a nice thing to have for some ringen am schwert techniques...

  • @TyLarson

    You should do a gorget episode. That is one of the most common questions I see and it can be tough to help people who are on different ends of the size spectrum.
    Speaking of size an episode on custom sizing of gear might be really good for the people who don't fit a standard size.

    I've never actually owned my own steel feder, being more of a single handed guy and for financial reasons. That said, of your list I've handled the Ensifer light several times and my club uses the Kvetun standard as the club's loaner steels. Of the two, I far prefer the Ensifer's handling, but the Kvetun's price and reputed durability is very attractive too.

    Aesthetically, I love, love, love the Chlebowski standard feder. I picked it up at the club and time stopped. It felt like magic and moved where it needed to be before I knew I wanted to move it.
    How does it compare to the Aureus?

    One point you missed about the Castille Feder is the Flex option. By default the Castille Feder is set to F4 (Stiff), but Sam (the owner) will do a more flexible (F3) version on request. I have both...

    • @thestuffmonster9856

      Imo it’s a bit stiff on the receiving end. Kvetun is basically Regenyei but a bit better in handling and flex (not to mention cheaper in the states, too).

    Good list! Im considering a SIGI as my next, but the list is missing options from VB through purpleheart armory. They have multiple versions now but the VB Revision C feder is a great option in a similar price range to the SIGI and Kvetun

    • @jamesreed4229
      @jamesreed4229  4 года назад

      Personally, as someone who has regularly used VBs for over two years, I have to say while VB have really improved their product over the past few years, they don't compare to SIGI or Kvetun.
